2. I have just had the same problem after buying new phones, in the end I changed to the sister company of telerabais (telesoldes) so that I could prefix each of my international numbers with their 4 digit code. It works although it's a bit long winded entering all the numbers for the first time.

 4. "So now I'm stuck with french type headlights, that are not UK MOT passable. Tried selling them but no-one wnats them. " Just so no one gets the wrong info, L/H drive headlights are acceptable for the UK MOT, provided you blank off the kick up part with tape.
 5. I spoke to a Notaire about this last week and she said it wasn't a problem, the buyer would have to send the notaire the anticipated fees in €'s in advance of the sale. Also the seller would have to deposit any possible charges VAT or CGT if  applicable. The only additional charges would be for a UK solicitor/commissioner of oaths to do the paperwork.

 12. "You would have thought these people would know that international removal firms can be engaged to take you back to the UK; they don't just fall off the planet when they get to Deepest France." The way I read it, they used a man & van because, they had very little to take back to the UK. I guess that all the furniture stayed in the house.

 19.

£1 flights - no taxes - what a rip-off on the return journey! Stansted to Tours = £1, no taxes or fees, total £1... Tours to Stansted £9.99 + taxes & fees, total £59.65... Total bill = £60.65
Choose your return journey wisely LPL to NTE = £1, NTE to LPL = £1 Total bill = £2, you can't even buy a "99" ice cream for that. Mind you I do agree with the OP, we are treated as S.L.F.      ..........(self loading freight)
OBI oh b u g g e r it.

In fact I have already taken a RIB into the local tresorie but have still received a bill telling me it must be paid by October 15th. Is this normal practice i.e sending the bill  but keeping the RIB till the payments start in January?? thanks tuppence
If you register for monthly payments before 12/12/2009 your first monthly payment for this years TF. will be taken out on the 15/01/2010

 24. Sorry I thought I was replying to the first poster, even though you may think it's renovation, there are lots of rules that may make it, be classed as a new build. I am sure your architect can guide you through it. You can find a lot of info on this site in English. http://www.french-property.com/guides/france/
