  1. All French purchased arms and dishes which are taller than they are wide all take the same size. Sky dishes irrespective of size have a smaller neck/ hole for the LNB and vary - Satcure or Maplins UK sites give options / descriptions. Sorry just realsied dinner is almost ready or would post links
  2. " You could have problems with British TV's and French analogue satellite,   even using SCART leads.    Not all British TV's can cope with SECAM,  even at baseband (ie via Scart).   You can only tell by trying,  or looking in the instruction books " Relevant experience as below : Secam video cassette, PAL and NTSCT video player, multistandard Thomson TV or cheap French TV, video plays sound OK but video in Black and White. Same cassette multistandard Thomson VCR TV combi still on mono only works when TV menu is set to France and language is French at which point works perfectly. Optex el cheapo products analalogue box also required TVs to set to French and French then rescanned. Almost as cheap digital box produced good pictures as soon as connected to any TV. Only quirk ws that colours were staturated using an FM transmitter and receivers via a scarts unless a TV was used on the transmitting. TNT (not TNT par SAT) box did not require either rescan, change of language to French, change of coutry to French before working perfectly on the two Thomson sets referred to above. The only way I can see pixelation as an issue on a TV receiving analogue signals is if the original feed to the broadcaster prior to transmission was digital and for what ever reasons did not have enough band width for transmission either to the broadcaster ot from the broadcaster to the transmissionmast or sattellite.   NB it is too many years since I worked for a broadcaster and was never on the technical end
  3. Just been down to one of the gites with the aerial pointing towards Rennes and attached a TNT box we had some time ago and took a look at the Strength and Quality. The Quality is between 80% -98% and the strength 48% and everything looks good then all of a sudden the quality just drops maybe to 60% and the picture pixelates. Sometimes it goes lower and the picture goes completely. Do you think its a dodgey box as I cant see any reason why it would suddenly just loose the quality like that. Much more likely to be the antenna moving, or a less than tight connection, swop boxes to test if possible. I have always found SECAM compatability to be all or nothing and it could not efect what the box reprts as strength or quality.
  4. Have a look at signal strength and quality on the TNT box pointing in the other direction. If quality is OK but strenght very poor try a mast head applifier
  5. I was not suggesting using tape but on post 1998 Peugeots if the headlamp protectors have the space marked then the bulbs cannot be moved to provide LHD diping.
  6. Read the handbook or visit a UK dealer and see if the headlamp protectors have a clearly marked space for black tape the tape.
  7. My guess is that Batiment de France will have a list of what you can use in the location including exact shades etc.
  8. Short answer take your TV to Pro & Cie or a decent eletrical retailer who has a receiver set up and see if it works. Longer answer : The first has RGB output - PAL G verus PAL I is only an issue on transmission so it should work. The second has Never The Same Color Twice AKA North American System Colour as an output option so ditto Personally I would wait - either Fransat will become much higher profile or they will need huge numbers of dish aligners when analogue is switch off
  9. Might help if you posted model and year you might find somebody moving in the other direction prepared to swop headlamps. Buy Dolorean use as time machine and recover UK headlamps from when you the changed them. Google 'German Swedish French' and see how much they charge, they are suppliers of car parts.
  10. You are lucky we have dustbin me and poste calenders as well. Suggested to Pompiers last year why do not they sell fore alarms and CO2 alarms which would be some use went down like : Iron Butterfly / Led Zeplin
  11. If you use 'Renovation and Grants' in the search box then several useful threads come up first one below http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1844771/ShowPost.aspx
  12. What shall we do with the Drunken Sailor ? One More Day Blow The Man Down http://shanty.rendance.org/lyrics/shanties.php Several of the others with a couple of verses cropped.
  13. At a guess € 6000 . Are the cables being cut into stone, or buried in plaster board ? I am not aware of any changes since NFC 15-100 has anything else happened ?
  14. My reading was € 15.24 collections of foreign cheques. I could not believe they would do it for nothing.
  15. Around us, The Gironde, Popular is grown a crop for use by saw mills rather than for firewood. Just a thought might be worth a fvisit to a couple of local saw mills.
  16. Fridges and or freezers which are beginning to break down can cause systems to trip.
  17. UK Government website refers you too link below which in turn leads to a brochure describing your rights. http://www.iam.org.uk/IAM+Policy+and+Research/advice/parking/bluebadgeusersparkingineurope.htm
  18. Try plumbers merchants such as http://www.brossette.fr/catalogue.php or CEDEO
  19. We like Libourne and when the house starts owning us as opposed to vice versa will probably move there.
  20. Some debate about whther it should simply be same brand or Same manufacturer and model but nowhere in the legislation has anybody ever found anything other than same tyres on same axel and no mixing of radials, by belt or cross plys.
  21. Other way of viewing the problem what was the relay meant to do ? If it was for switching the lights on when poussoirs/ push button swotches were pressed in a hallway or stairwell then a 'Telerupter' either in the main Tableau or a separate box will do the job Leroy Merlin, M Bricolage, Brico Depot etc will stock them but they are now the size to fit satndard Tableau so look rather different.
  22. We loose the signal a couple of times a year. Ordinary rain is fine but full on down pour with lightening does loose the signal for perhaps 5 minutes. The performance difference is likley to be either the digiboxes, length and quality of cable connections or marginal difference in the positions of the two LNBs within the horn at the end of the arm. You can check signal strength and quality using : Green Oval Services Button, 4 System Set Up, 6 Signal Quality Both my sysytems have 95% quality and 90% strength. I have seen satisfactory reception with 5 % strength and 70% quality. If you are in the deep South or West of France then an 80 cm dish may bring an improvement in any event have a look at : http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1658140/ShowPost.aspx Which explains how to make very small adjustments to your dish and LNB alignment to improve reception
  23. At that size and with the transmissions I am getting I can get away with the lowest current spec tv with no problems. True All the local places I visit in UK say UK purchased TV's will not do PAL and SECAM so if I want to recreate just what I have I need to purchase in France (yet some people on here say otherwise). Based on my experience of trying get accurate information in both the UK and France 9 out 10 shop assistants have no idea and simply bluff.  Any TV which offers a choice of country which includes France and UK during the instalation process, check the menus for this, will receive both PAL and SECAM.  At a guess 95% of TV on sale in the UK will be dual standard because it is now cheaper than manufacturing sets for different European countries. However by the end 2011 it will not matter. France is implementing TNT (Television Numerique ) and switching off analogue. Any UK TV which can receive freeview will also receive TNT when it is in France. Just check that the TV still has a SCART. If the standard aerial is indoors on top of the TV there is a chance you may need to move to an outside aerial or wait till analogue switch off before you can receive TNT.
