Frederick
A long time ago I posted on here that Southampton were getting an IKEA and would be handy for anyone using Portsmouth or Poole crossings who may want to vsit it .... and ....would post when it looked like opening ... Its almost finished they have recruited 100 managers and supervisors for the store which is on 4 floors with 9.200 articles for sale and the remainder of the over 400 staff are being recruited now The restaurant seats 600....so .... meat balls by the ton there ! Its in West Quay Road .not far from the railway station by the docks ......cant miss it... its big enough ! Due to open in the spring they now have a web site for it ..aimed at job seekers ...opening date should appear on that soon ..
Gastines
The new IKEA at Pace/Rennes is now open, best to visit during weekdays,Saturdays it is very very busy. Huge store, usual loads of useful goodies + Cafe etc. Lots of other stores nearby. Also remember that at Cap Malo, off the N137 Rennes to St,Malo route, there is a huge Castorama/Jardiland and Alinea, similar to IKEA.Regards. Frederick
I was told that the local shops were against it ...but guess what....when they agreed to build a bridge over to the shopping center and link the two together ......no objections now !!! ViVienne
it will probably be ok after the initial novelty wears off and if you avoid the rush hour traffic, I wouldn't dream of driving into town during the sales as it's usually gridlock, and that's before the Ikea opens. united
Having had a few less than enjoyable trips to IKEA in Nantes we went online to their French site from here in Edinburgh and ordered some furniture to be delivered when we returned to France. In Nantes they sub-contract delivery so its a couple of weeks from order to delivery. IKEA said they would deliver on a Tuesday at 9.00am, they arrived at 7.30am. We also know we can hear the doorbell from the shower!
Frederick
Do like IKEA Nantes......that water feature with thousands of gallons like rapids gushing down between the escalators that take you into the shopping mall is one of the best I have ever seen .....
