irnbru
A gale blowing and rain driving almost horizontally, so no golf this evening ......suppose I'll just fill up a glass of wine and see how the South Britons get on.
Missy
>>>From Saligo : Imagine giving Zidane a yellow card! That is just NOT ON!! and from Twinks :Don't worry SB, remember what happened 8 years ago when he got a yellow card?<<<Well...this time their 'to loose' goose is truly cooked 'coz they ain't got a chance these French to even win the booby prize...The 1st match was a dead loss to watch and this 2nd was not much better once the 1st goal was in... Imagine! 8 years! to kick one in!... must be a record... The Aussies are better at it, having hardly been in the competition at all, they have more goals than Engerland and les bleus put together.... Anyway WE was robbed !! where was the ref? They should have had TV refs like they have at rugby for the tries!... it will come when they'll have enough complaint about it... One day... irnbru
What do John Prescott and Brazil's very own Ronaldo have in common? Both are over-the-hill, overweight and overpaid .... but can still manage to score.

Just Katie
Missyes. Congratulations. Spain next for you (scary). I must say last nights game was the best I have seen for years. I think Mexico was very unlucky and the ref a little one sided. The Mexicans played with such precision, I was really disappointed they did not get through. Don't know whether I am being PC or not here and frankly I don't care but I really wanted to say auf weidesien and adios to the Germans and Argies yesterday. Ah well at least one of them will be going in the next game.Let's hear it for this afternoon then!!
Russethouse
Can you imagine our team being able to play into extra time ? [:(]Great match last night but this afternoons expectation for me is 90 nail biting minutes, because they are the English team, not because the match will be as good as last nights! I hope I'm wrong !!
ali-cat
I'm actually starting to feel quite ill, at the thought of todays match!! I really hope they don't make the sort of defensive errors they did against Sweden - or that's it!!I would love for England to lift the Cup - but part of me wants them to go out, so I can enjoy watching the rest of the World Cup, without getting myself into a state!! [blink] (that's the nearest smiley I could find, to me looking nervous!!)
Cassis
Listening to Radio 5. Usual moans about uninventive England. Alan Green - what a pain. Sometimes it all clicks, most times it doesn't. Talk about whingeing Scots, Wen!
ali-cat
It might not have been pretty - in fact quite ugly, at times - but they WON!! [:D]
Just Katie
Way Hay Big Fish Man XMind you to be honest I switched over well before the end to watch a documentry about the micro economy in the Outer Hebrides. A tad more exciting.
Just Katie
Just finished watching Portugal and Holland. The ref was my granny in disguise but don't tell anyone.I used to really like the dutch, they were my second team. I think it came from 74 finals but not anymore. They should move Holland to South America with all their diving and diva-ing.Anyway, whats the chances against the pork and cheese?

Chris Head
I'm cheering for Ghana now. What a load of sissies last night, they wouldn't last 5 minutes in a rugby match.Chris
Miki
Strange really Chris how many more serious injuries can occur in Soccerthan Rugby, where they now wear gloves and still can't tackle withtheir feet.....[:)]As for Beckham, that's akin to saying that no one else can score goalsfrom set pieces against an Ecuadorian goalkeeper ! The lad was crap, once again, going as far to say he was unwell and was actually sickbefore the game. There are a few excellent free kick specialists in theside but Beckham has the great fear, that should any of them score froma set piece, that's him finished as there is nothing else he does onthe pitch worthy of being selected for. Why does anyone think he takesall kicks except goal kicks? As for team man, if he was unwell,he should have stood down but bring in previous explanation and onewill see, he dare not for fear of not getting back !!With all the midfield players now selected to play, dump the one trickpony and put on Theo the boy wonder now, reports say the nits arenow history and he is ready to serve his country [;-)]

ali-cat
Could be much worse. No Deco, Costinha or possibly Ronaldo, due to the red cards & injuries (alhough I've just seen that Figo has been cleared to play, after the headbutt).I thought the Portugal v Holland match was the best fight I've seen, since Joe Calzaghe fought Jeff Lacy for the super-middleweight belt in March!!
