But, I AM absolutely in the dark where French supermarket loyalty cards are concerned. I have one with Intermarche and one with Champion. However, what do they DO? I know absolutely where I was with my Tesco card and, indeed, my Boots card.With Tesco, I regularly got a reduction in the region of £30 to £40 each quarter off my shopping and at Boots, I sometimes get something like a whole pack of cotton wool buds for free!With these French cards, I am not at all sure what I am supposed to get. Apart from the odd reduction when I buy something on "promotion", I seem to pay the same amount whether I hand over the card or not. For heaven's sake, what are they supposed to DO? I don't really know how to ask and the Brits I HAVE asked don't seem to have a clue either.Can somebody PLEASE enlighten me? Boy, will I be grateful! Thanks in advance! Clair Posted September 12, 2007 Share Posted September 12, 2007 I can't comment specifically about theChampion or Intermarché loyalty cards as I don't have them... but my Géant card accumulates points called Smiles with every shopping trip. Several times a year, Géant/Casino produce a little catalogue of items or services I can exchange the points for.The Géant points do not expire, the card is valid nationwide. I can also exchange them for train tickets and the card is also valid in other affilated shops. As well as points against goods, the Leclerc card also gives you some money off, which accumulates on your card until you ask the cashier to deduct them from your bill, BUT the value is only valid in the shop where the purchase was made.So, if you shop in 3 Leclerc shops, each shop will have its own "money off" total, which can only be deducted from shopping at that particular shop.I believe the points and "money off" have to be used before the end of each year or they're lost... If you do this keep the bit stapled to the bon - it has the validation code for the cashier. Auchan points can be used as a cash deduction at the checkout, however I think they expire once a year (end Dec or Jan?)but they do give you notice. Thanks in advance! [/quote]Intermarché is very easy - the sum due to you comes as money off a bill of your choice; all you do is ask to 'vider la carte' at the till after you finish your shopping. I got 2000 points on my card, enough for an MP3 key for my son :!!In Leclerc or Intermarché , as has been said, you ask at the till when you give your card " S'il vous plait déduisez l'argent de ma carte" .Hope this helps.. So I tend to use mine for stuff like that, or if you know the in-laws are coming over for a week and going to eat (and drink) you out of house and home. Danny Posted September 14, 2007 Share Posted September 14, 2007 I only have a Leclerc loyalty card, but it is worth noting that you don't accumulate points just by spending lots. Each month you will receive publicity (or see it in the shops, if you don't get delivered). Within the publicity are the offers available that month. If you purchase some of those (exact!) items you will either get a percentage of the price or a specified amount added to you fidelity card. You can't deduct that amount from your total bill on the day of purchase, you have to wait 24 hours. The card only works at your local branch, as far as I know (at least for deductions). Also interesting to note is that all cards are wiped clean of their balance on Dec 31st each year, so use up your points before then!Jane Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The points can accumulate for as long as you want but you can also trade them in for cash or money off vouchers. Look at the front of the cataglogue e.g. 10€ for 400 points, 15€ for 480, it gets better the more you save eg 25€ for 550 but if you wait until you have 600 points you get an extra 5€. If you ask for the cash to be put on your card they have to be used by 31st Dec but the 'Bon D'Achat' vouchers have to be used within 2 months of receiving them. There is a list of conditions in the catalogue. As previously mentioned, each store has its own points accrual so if you shop in Leclerc in X you do not add on the points spentin Leclerc Y. So Wednesday morning, the sign disappeared and so did she. A young man told me I could get the cadeax (voucher) if I sent off for for the voucher by post !!!![:@] So Clair, are they having me on?? what a palava. I suspect that's what they've told you...[:D]I get double points if I shop on a Wednesday... Maybe that's what they tried to explain?
