1. Bob, could you give me the name of the retailer, you used for the Humax?
2.
Thank for the McDonalds info. Without seeming too thick, will I be able to connect with my laptop which has wifi built in, or would I still have to get a broadband dongle?
AFAIK when you buy something at Mc'ds, you can ask for free wifi and they will give you a scratch card, you connect to their wifi and then enter the number. The connection lasts around 20 mins per scratch card. This was my experience in Spain.
3. "I believe Mcdonalds has free wifi, (got to get customers somehow) " The only problem is, you have to buy something first, and it's only 20/30 mins free. then you will have to buy another burger to carry on[+o(]
4. If you go to their website, you will find a UK address, to give to your online home delivery company. After verifying a delivery date with "Sterling" you go-online to Tesco etc. and have the goods delivered, just before the cut off point for acceptance by "Sterling". Despite my original scepticism about this company and my post being pulled (I still don't know why that was) I have since ordered from Argus UK, a bulky item to be delivered to me here in France on the 9th May.
5.
Thanks all, PO it is then.
Try your local bank in France, I am sure you can do better than selling €'s to the UK PO or bank
6. If you have the certificate on your own personal computer, who else has access to it, or would want to access it? After making your declaration online, you can always delete the the certificate, if you feel your security might me threatened, but it's only a tax declaration. If you choose this year, not to use a certificate and want to be able to to access your tax account from any computer you have access to, you will  have to enter three different passwords. Secure enough for me.
7. Definitely custard.  Don't bother with all that eggs and milk stuff either:  Bird's Eye is fine if you can get it and it's got to be served hot for authenticity. Not so sure about Birds Eye, don't they sell frozen peas?[6]
8. If you are using Firefox got to TOOLS, OPTIONS, ADVANCED, ENCRYPTION. to view certificates, probably similar in I.E.
9. There are plenty of sites like this to get you started, and we know that you can use Google[:D] http://lesbeauxjardins.com/jardinons/potager/calendrierpotager.htm
10. You don't say if your laptop actually finds the Livebox but just does not connect, you could check to see if your SSID is set to broadcast, by typing http://192.168.1.1  into your Internet browser or click on the link in blue, both passwords are normally "admin". then check out the wireless settings. Also you could try changing the channel number, save the settings then press the association button on the Livebox and try again.
11.

Have you seen the cost? [:-))][:-))][:-))]
Holy Mackerel!! Plus €24 for postage!! [:-))]
That's only the return postage[:'(]
12.
That's a good one.  I can even whittle it down to  Arnac Pompadour.  Forecasting isolated thunderstorms this pm although the sun is shining at the moment.  Well best unplug the PC and clean my kitchen cupboards instead.  Deep joy !!!!  [:'(]
You maybe able to do that. but the forecast will still come from the nearest main meto station, which in your region could be Limoges.
13. My own experience is that you won't be able to record, or see any programs already recorded on it, without a Sky subscription.
14. "I just wanted to try and do a little to dispel the myth about French inefficiency!" This does not tally with my experience, with CPAM, IMPÔTS, EDF, SAUR, Car/House insurance or any other French company that I know of.[:'(]
15. I am sure that you would pay more for professional use, rather than just private, contact your insurers and correct the mistake asap.
16. If you have a laptop and access to the Internet on route (Macdo's wifi) or similar. When you are close to Paris, you can check current road and traffic conditions, and also get the best route to avoid any congestion. On this site: Tom Tom Routes.
17. Forget the peel, they will be just as good.
18. Here's one company to get you started:  http://www.confortbois.com/ And if you google "maison bois france"  you will find a few more.[:)]

20. You will always have to pay the Fonciere tax, but if the house is unhabitable.  I don't think you will get away with saying that it's unfurnished[:D]and if you could agree it with your Mairie, you may not need to pay the habitation tax.
