idun Posted December 6, 2011 Share Posted December 6, 2011 French schools are stopping little girls dressing like little Lolitas. No make up, short shorts, short skirts/dresses. Good idea IMO. But there is this name Lolita, who would call their daughter Lolita? And yet I know a university professeur of french, in France who had a son and was insistent that she wanted no more children and then her daughter came along and she called her Lolita! That girl will be 17 now, what on earth will she be thinking when she sees her name being used in that context....... and will she have seen Vladimir Nabokov's book? It is very disturbing to watch as the girl (I forget her name off the top of my head) is much closer to the age of the eponymous character than Sue Lyons was. Creepy stuff.
