Swine flu

We asked our généralist about vaccine for la grippe porcine and he said that he would under no circumstances administer it as it was not yet approved and was made in China but did offer me vaccine for pneumonia. I am not happy to have this as although I have breathing problems associated with taking Salazopyrin my wife should not be exposed to anyone having a recent vaccination as she is on chemotherapy. Has anyone else met this reaction from their GP.........................JR

On the other hand the seasonal Vaccine has been  available since Friday, and it is recommended to have it as soon as possible as there needs to be a gap of at least three weeks between the two.

I got my prescriptions for the vaccine itself and for the infirmière  through yesterday.

Thanks Clair and NormanH. Yes the doc gave me the prescription for the Yersin powder anti seasonal flu stuff but not the wife for obvious reasons. The vaccine in a shot is not recommended for either of us just now. I will have to ask him about the risks to Madame if I have the other stuff for pneumonia before he sticks it in. I did not know the swine flu stuff was made in China until he mentioned it!...........JR

Interesting and worrying article Bugbear and maybe I misunderstood the doc when I thought he said chinoise or Chine, maybe he said Chiron! Speaking as someone who already has autoimmune problems associated with Crohn's I will think very hard about having this shot just now. My better half cannot have it or even the seasonal flu stuff as she is on chemo with a well suppressed autoimmune system at this time and is not supposed to go anywhere near anyone who has had a recent vaccination...........JR

Just my view.

Clearly a very biased article but isnt the whole mediatisation of swine flu and naming it a pandemic biased in itself?

I agree wholeheartedly with the following that I copied from the article:

Dr. Wodarg told the German press that the widespread fear of the pandemic was an “orchestration,” stating, “It is great business for the pharmaceutical industry. Swine flu is not very different from normal flu. On the contrary, if you look at the number of cases it is nothing compared to a normal flu outbreak.”

When asked recently how dangerous he thinks the Swine Flu virus is, Sir Liam Donaldson Chief Medical Officer in the UK answered: ‘It isn’t a killer, but it can kill people... I don’t think we need to fear it, because for many people it will be a mild illness...’

And having had it myself I concur with the following

The actor who played in the government awareness commercial for Swine Flu managed to contract the H1N1 virus and this is what he had to say about his experience: 'I got a chesty cough, a fever and a temperature... To be honest, I've had worse flus. It was quite mild considering. So, I quarantined myself, sweated it out and that was it really.'

There are far more important things to be worrying about in the world today.

I beleive the vaccine having been approved in 1 EMEA country it is now approved in all as the manufacturers went the parallel route in getting the liscenses through.

If you are in a high risk cateogory, you should have the vaccine, if not probably best to stay as fit and healthy as possible and take plenty of antioxidents.

Dear JohnRoss here only our experience. My wife's auto immune system is let us say almost zero in that she takes an anti TNF injection for her Rheumatoid Arthritis and we obviously see a specialist for it. Ahead of the 'jab' being available the Dr gave my wife an injection againsts pneumonia for that it is one of the likely areas of concern for someone with a low immune system. Then this week we both had the seasonal injection against flu.

I have to say that in our opinion France does a lot of preventative work medically wise.

Some time ago my wife had to have her tetinus jab (lots of jabs) and they included polio and diptheria at the same time.

One can only do such much?

The receptionist in the Dentist surgery was wearing one this morning to avoid catching this dreadfull modern day terror, I told her that only Michael Jackson and the Japanese wore them and in their case it was to be continue working whilst infected, i.e. to protect others.

It will be interesting to see if she is still wearing it when I go for my dental work as it was causing her a lot of problems and discomfort, not surprising considering that it resembled a biological warfare headset, in fact I think that she may have got a mustard gas headset from the WW1 museum next door!

When I flew back from the UK on Sunday there were a few oriental (Japanese ?) in business class wearing these masks and right daft they looked too.

Thing is that they weren't wearing them before getting on/off the plane and removed them when the trolley dolly with the drinks and nosebag came round.

So, the mask will work exactly how then?

Some masks work but only for 6 hours, they then need to be replaced. France hasn't approved the vaccine its expecetd to do so and it should be available by the end of Nov.

The reason is that the vaccine is seen as to toxic.

I don't understand what the issue with china is? All vaccines have to be approved by France and the EU.

Neither do I now as this shows that France intends to buy from these firms GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi and Novartis. The latter two are French companies. Though obligatory vaccination for everyone seems a bit over the top!............JR  http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=13835

PS Maybe the doc thought France might buy vaccine from Sinovac as they claim to have produced a one shot vaccine See http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2009-08/31/content_8638360.htm
