1. Why don't you buy it in France?
2. "Distance from Caen to our house is just over 500m so easily doable in one day from the ferry docking at 6am.  Boulogne is 730 ish miles so we've saved about 300 miles driving and fuel. But what astonished me is that the toll charge from Caen is  down as 4.5 euros and is about 66 from Boulogne so saving about 120 euros. (I'm going to check my doofah statement carefully on this as it seems odd) " Unless you choose to avoid all motorways were posssible then the figure is more likley to be €45 - 55.
3. Have you filled out the form to register your doctor as your  "médecin traitant"?  You will not get the correct reimbursement if not, you can download the form on the link shown below if required. FORM HERE
4. That's strange, I thought there were more w*nkers than that in France[6]
5. Tomtom 720 "at the end of the road turn left" "in 500 metres turn right"

7.
I think we will probobly go for the Mrjardinage jack. The chain and pulley is also an idea but it might be expensive getting hold of the winch thing......unless anyone knows otherwise thanks for ideas
You can get the winch thing, at little cost from the trucks that do the rounds of villages selling tools etc. manual or electric."Palan à chaîne"
8.
Unfortunately Avisoft doesn't work with Vista.  I did ask them at one time if they were intending to bring out a "fix" but the reply was that Vista was so different from previous versions of Windows that it would have been too big a task.
I have it installed, and it works on my Vista laptop.
9.
Clair, On the site you copied the rules on Terraces from there is another section which mentions 20sq m which is a number I have previously seen in relation to new construction and seems eminently more reasonable ! It's a bit confusing in translation so I wonder if you'd care to comment ? And what on earth does SHOB mean ?
You asked the same question on a different thread and were given the answer to your question. http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1446788/ShowPost.aspx
10. If you want to inform the various departments of the French administration of your change of address, you can do so from this link. https://www.changement-adresse.gouv.fr/changementAdresse/jsp/verification.do#aide You will probably still have to change your carte gris via the Sub/Prefecture. A few other useful links on changing address. 11. "What exactly do you mean "controlled by the local authorities" ? The term "contrôle" in this context, in French means an inspection/check up.
12. Why would you be confused? it seems pretty clear to me, if you have definitely subscribed to the "Pack Sérénité 36mois-60000km" then the service should be free, parts and labour included.
13. In theory you can't sell a car with a CT more than six months old.
14. I would take it to a local garage for a pre MOT to establish the amount of work required, before booking the CT.
15. Ron wrote "I think the OP's problem is that they were not in the CMU Base in November 2007 so therefore it really does matter as to how this can be resolved.  The fact that they were not in the CMU Base before is probably why CPAM is refusing them admission to the CMU because as far as they are aware,  having been covered by another Caisse," "My wife and I have been in the CMU for 5 years.  I was working for a French company when we joined, but stopped working for them the following year"
16.

The FHI link for 5 year residence.
IS THAT BETTER RON???
?
17. It seems you have two strings to your bow, 1. resident in France for 5 years and 2. you were in the CMU system in November 2007. You can not now be refused entry into CPAM except in extreme circumstances. You didn't answer B.A.F.'s question did you complete this years CPAM renewal form?
18. This link will give you some idea about rooms and prices.  http://www.britanniatravel.com/hotels.html
19. AFAIK you will have to buy the annuity at the same time that you take the lump sum and don't forget to tell the French taxman about it, also any winnings on the premium bonds will be classed as unearned income and attract social charges in France.
