  8. p.s www.impot.gouv.fr click documentation then impot practique there is some stuff in english, theres a lawyer on this forum that dinks good french wine and hasnt got a 4x4 offer to pay him for his time it wil be worth it.
  9. get some serious advise before you sign you may be getting pushed into something are you sure you have to pay cgt there are some other threads here go to a seperate notaire take advice juridique get assurance juridique at your french bank or at an avocat he really needs to spend some time in france doing some serious reseach before he gets ripped off make sure you know exactly how much cgt will be liable before selling dont sign anything untill you are sure of what you are doing get everything verified by independant parties outside the selling of the property this is common sense the buyer can wait till you are sure, this is paris everyone is on speed, everyone is out to make a buck your friend is an easy target to rip off his flat will sell easily in paris take your time to make sure you know what you are doing if the flat is paid for then it is costing very little to sit there empty in six months if it takes that long the value of the flat will have increased anyway. i may be ignorant but im not stupid....

  12. hello i am looking for work in manche normandy i am located near avranches. i have owned a property here for the last 15 years and have lived full time in france for the last 6 years. i speak reasonably good french and have a french girlfriend so the language  barrier (although a bit frustrating due to my unfrench accent) is not a problem. I am a reasonably competant mechanic and am a keen diy enthusiast so manual work is an option. i am also reasonably competant with a computer and enjoy web deseign. i can provide references from both english and french employers. i am looking for either full time or part time employement and can be contacted either through this forum or at [email protected] if you would like further information i can give you a telephone number where i can be contacted direct. anyway thanks for looking at my post and please dont hesitate to contact me if you need someone to help with your french projects.

  14. the present economic climate in france is making it difficult to sell a fond de commerce yes the price may well be reasonable however the cost of running a business in france is not reasonable especially if you intend to employ staff you will need to earn a lot of money in order to pay all your taxes and charges which is soul destroying when you see your income eaten away by the the charges imposed on your business
  15. iwould appreciateit if you could contact me if you have any experience of dynamic pages using php in dreamweaver if  you can advise me on this subject please give me a contact email so we can talk privately the more i try and learn the more involved and complicated it gets
  16. the red and blue would appear to be most common you would be advised to do it the same way as a french plumber brico depot bricomarche gedimat and any other diy shop will sell the material most often used talk to plumbers and choose the easiest and most readily available material
  17. you could well aim for a job within the realm of agence immobilier or legal secretary i would like to make a point however there is a growing industry built up of encouraging english to restart their lives in france this is profited by the agence immobilier and the building trade and also those working on the black helping the english acheive their dream home. a large percentage of  these people do go back to england after either not finding work or by finding that if you try to start your own legitimate business in france it will be complicated hard work and you will pay a large portion of your earnings in tax and other charges. im sure it is profitable to sell the same houe twice in three or four years especially when your friends or involved with the builders that do the renovations. if you get involved with the legal side of administartion i would think that you would have many english clients that will need an intermediary between the english and the french you will need a good understanding of french and you will need a patient boss who is prepared to explain all the little clauses if and buts surrounding the subject you are dealing with i would think there are more and more adminstartive positions that will need to be filled by an english speaking person in order to deal with the english in france that are trying to deal with the ridiculous amount of administrative nonsense that needs to be dealt with in order to earn legitimate money while in france if you get a job on salaire this will be your best option. you should aim for agence immobilier, notaire or even working for urssaf of the hotel des impots in the dordogne there is a section at the tax office given  over to exclusivly to dealing with the english in the region your husband may find work here either on salaire or on the black then again he may not ive watched these forums for some time and have lived in france even longer it is not always easy but if you can manage to earn enough money to live on it is definately different to living in england
  18. if you are planning to live in the country you are going to find it very difficult to find clients that will be interested in your service if you are planning on living in a town you may well find clients but there will also be established beauty salons that have their clientbase already do not expect to be able to earn a living from this you may find it possible to find a job in an established salon if you are prepared to live in a town and are able to speak and intergrate with the  french if you decide to work on the black you may well find some clients mainly english if you do not intergrate this may cause you problems at a later date with the impot and urssaf etc if you decide to start a legitimate business you will need  a stable clientbase willing to spend a reasonable amount of money in order for youto be ableto pay your charges you may well earn some money doing this but it will not be easy
  19. ill answer my own question apparantly i can set up a "societe civil immobilier"   for the property after which i set up the sarl or eurl as a seperate societe. the sci rents the property to the business therefore protecting the property. i learnt this today talking to a friendly comptable ive not heard of what your talking about so if anyone has anyexperience of this or you can give me some more info on the other suggestion it would be appreciated anyway thanks enjoy
  20. im not an expert but i believe you need a certfcate as usual in france for you woodburner instalation with regards to your insurance should you have a fire your insurance company will be more than happy to reject your insurance claim if you cannot prove that the burner was installed by a registered artisan pretty crap i know but it will give you piece of mind rember you need a certificate for most things the more you ask the more you need each office will send you to another office and so the french economy turns huge administation costs and a rich beaurocracy
  21. ive read with interest that chaux will allow stone walls to breath should the chaux be used both for interior and exterior walls or just exterior there is literally no mortar in the walls so can i plug the walls with a ciment mix and just use the chaux for the final coat? any ideas willl be appreciated
  22. after running a successful busines here for three years i am confident but in case you hadnt realised france is becoming more and more difficult and is increasingly adapting the american attitude of im not happy so im going to sue so my concerns are reasonable as the outright owner of the property can i rent the property to the business which is free of debt and in the red thus keeping the business and the property seperate if youve had any dealings with the french authorities and administration you should no that it is never black and white so if anyone else is in this situation can they advise me

  24. sorry to hassle but youve just got a bill for 10 grand sterling and basically theyre going to clean out the wall and repoint it how long is it going to take how many people will be working on the pointing is it going to be done by hand or with machines definately get other quotes the scaffolding price is ive seen scaffolding selling for less than a grand euro whats the garde corpet pose scellement chimique  are you sure you want this done are you in effect getting a complete damp proof process with all the latest blah blah do you live in the property or do you just visit if you live there and have time the work will cost you much less if you do it yourself you will pay for sand and cement clearing out the shit and pointing a wall can be done over a few weeks if youve got a couple of friends i recently had a complete corner of my house collapse it was taken down and rebuilt from the ground roof and guttering repared for less money by a registered building company if you want some more advise let me know get another quote
