1.
When I had my first dog vaccinated/blood tested in the UK quite a few years ago now the vet then advised that there was a 20% failure rate after only one vaccination.  He did caution that figure saying that the data had not been being collected for too long (at that time) but it was on that basis that people vets were recommending the two initial vaccinations a few weeks apart (as Robie34 says).  When my French pup went through the procedures a year and a half ago ,y French vet also recommended a dual vaccination ( a few weeks apart) – and actually gave me the 2nd vaccination free (but this could have related to an incident where I was noted as having been particularly honest regarding their bills over a 6 months period). Ian
But as I understood it, the original post was about a booster, not the initial vaccination. Clearly it was a mistake to get the blood test done at the same time as the booster, as it will take some time to have an effect, which is why, with the initial vaccination, the blood test is always done a month later. In this case, though, one has to wonder if the certificate you had with the dog was legit. To have a reading so low, makes it sound as if the dog had never previously been vaccinated. Sadly, either way, you are in for more bills I think.
 2.

French health services, once provided are second to none (according to some, such as the WHO).   Really that is how it works is it?
Sorry? What's the question? How what works?
I think someone has not heard of the World Health Organisation perhaps?
 3. That's just Brittany Ferries. Don't expect them to justify it. Boulogne to Manche in 3.5 hours, you do well. Have you checked Transmanche, and LD?
 4.
Microchip advisable but not mandatory unless you want to take him back to the UK to visit and frankly, I'd say better be safe than sorry. Eurotunnel crossing would be least stressful for him as you can stay with him in the car.
Are you suggesting he is sub-human? You don't need a microchip, so why should he?
 5.
Is it not also taboo in Islam to murder innocent people? Do not see them protesting againt muslim terrorists! In fact one of them dressed as a suicide bomber. Funny that.
And today there is a Muslim demonstration in London, which is also protesting about the "Muslim" extremists. As Dick suggested, it was the original act of publishing the items which was deliberately aimed at being contraversial. They knew what reaction they would most likely get, and it seems to me that this was their only reason for publishing. For instance, under freedom of speech, I could go round insulting everyone I meet, providing I don't write, or say to a third party, anything which is intrue. But I doubt if this would get a friendly response. So why should anyone think that it is reasonable to insult a particular ethnic group, but not reasonable when they object? If for instance, someone were to publish the statement that all catholic priests were paedophiles, on the basis that perhaps one or two individuals have been condemned for this horrendous crime, there would, quite rightly be outrage, as the statement would be blatently untrue. Yet the cartoon, or at least the one I saw, did suggest to me that all followers of Islam were bombers. You cannot tar the whole with the acts of a relative few, no matter what the rights of freedom of speech give you. Brian.
 6.
We paid to much to the notaire, but he told us at the time of signing and also that there would be a refund, did you go back to the notaire direct? to ask for the money due.
Same happened to us, and we got a refund straight into our bank a couple of months later.
 7.
See http://www.flnjfrance.com/
Wow, I can even get him a tee shirt.
 8. We had a Gnome move in with us (in the UK) last Christmas. We were wondering about relocating him to our place in France. Does anyone know if the language barrier will be too much for him?
 9.
So far up his own a**e he even has a forum dedicated to discussing - him!
Reminds me of a quote by a recent Head of Personnel at the BBC (appointed by Greg D). When asked what he thought of the other senior executives, he replied, most of them have got their heads so far up their a***s it's a wonder they dont have kidney problems. I couldn't disagree with him. I met TB a couple of times, nutty as a fruit cake.
 10.
I believe there is one way of replicating a UK PAL I broaadcastsignal in France . This is to take a UK PAL I VCR  player and a pre recorded tape to France and check it that the TV will tune in to the VCR output via a coaxial cable not the SCART lead. If you have both colour and sound it works.
But I doubt whether many french retailers could provide this facility themselves. Le bouffon, my only knowledge of television comes from 20 years with BBC Engineering division, followed by a further 20 years in other BBC departments. OK it might not count for much.......
 11. From reading these quickly, it appears that currently French levied CGT is not included in the agreement, but will in the future one. Since very few French nationals have a residence secondaire in the UK it seems to me that France will be losing out here, which might account for the delay. Also, as I currently understand it, French CGT is levied at 16%, but in the UK it is 30%? So if you get to be charged in the UK for selling your French house, you will be far worse off. But then, I might have completely misunderstood the whole thing.
 12.
We brought over a tv some years ago when we moved here, put it in the cupboard and forgot it until the eldest  wanted a tv for her room,it will not pick up french tv but will work with sat tv(astra 2) and spanish tv,if you buy your new tv in France ask the shop for a set up demo to see what system it works on.
This is the reverse of what the original post was about. Apart from the colour information in the picture, SECAM in France, and PAL in the UK (and other parts of europe), there are differences in the tuner as the carrier frequency seperation for the video and audio are different in the two countries. Thus you might be in the position of being able to see the picture but not hear the sound. On the other hand, if you intend to use it with a Freeview box, connected with a SCART cable, it will be fine.
 13. From your original prices Tony, I assume you booked one of their 10 trip supervouchers, thus making each return trip £38. These have now gone up to £210 for 1o single journeys over 2 years, so you could still book for August at £42 return.
 14.
I do agree with others that if you buy one with no intention of taking it even on to a grass verge there is little or no point.
Yes there is, how else do you impress the other mums on the school run? Believe me, this was an answer given to me once. I seem to have lost touch with that particular family now.
 15. You could try Transmanche, Newhaven to Dieppe. Dieppe is well placed to get onto the A28 south west of Rouen.
 16. The Sanef website does say that you can't use Maestro. The other autoroute companies also supply these devices, and prices do differ. Cofi whatever they are called do one for 12€ per annum if you elect to get your statement by email.
 17. Just search for "sim nrj", brings up all of two, both new. A new one will cost you 30€
 18. I must agree that this sounds like a typical scart lead problem. Check that they are securely plugged in, or swap them round if you can.
 19. I saw a mention on another forum. In that case, they rang Peugeot customer services un the UK, and were provided with the cert. FOC. Check the documentation you have with the car, as there may already be the appropriate part in there. It's about time France woke up to the EU, as all cars sold in the EU must have homologation in all states. You will even have a little plate riveted to the bodywork to prove it.
 20. Well, the car journey would be best part of two days each way, and toddlers get very bored.
 21. Well, I just checked on their website. Booked as told, single ticket 25/12/2006, continue and next page shows several sailings over the consecutive days. In the centre is the one you want for 25/12, and it is clearly marked 10 ticket supervoucher. Continue, and up comes the price so far as £190.
 22. You have to remember that as far as the UK is concerned, many internet bookings only attract a surcharge for credit card transactions, not for debit cards. I will always use the latter when this applies. Most of the local shopkeepers I talk to tell me that debit card transactions are much cheaper to them than credit cards. Of course, the cost is nothing like the charges that Flybe are levying.
 23.
We're going to try Speedferries with their super cheap crossings as it works out much cheaper for us to drive from Devon to Dover, short crossing then drive back to Honfleur from Boulogne - possibly even time-wise it will be quicker... it's just stress of the UK drive that may deter us!
Have you considered Transmanche, from Newhaven to Dieppe? Seems to me that might be better from the driving point of view. Their crossing time is currently 4 hours, but they are supposed to be getting a new boat this year which will cut that down to 3 hours. (perhaps).
 24. All the fixed speed cameras I have seen in France, have a warning sign about 200 metres before you get to them, "for your safety". Thus a GPS which repeats this warning sign cannot be a problem. What is a problem is a device which senses the radar frequencies, and will thus warn of mobile speed traps. I am not aware of any GPS which also does this, though I accept I don't know everything.
 25. Of course, there is no law that says you HAVE to use a credit card, there are other ways to pay. If you want credit, or in fact a short term loan, from a bank, or credit card company, someone has to pay for this. If you pay with money that you actually have, then there is no charge.
