1. I have to say I have only scanned this thread as I thought I had nothing of real value to add. However I stumbled across a French site this evening opening a (an off shore) business in the UK, so I thought perhaps that they may be able to help, they have a number in London, they may not be able to answer questions about healthcare but I thought they might to be able to answer the questions that have arisen from the complexity of living in France and running (involved in) a company elsewhere. the site is in the following link  http://www.france-offshore.fr/?gclid=CIrhtp74yK4CFeYhtAodb0hRBw I hope it helps
2.
Thanks Crabtree, very much.[:)]  Did you buy the right "blanks" or just print them on sticky paper and cut it up, or print on plain and glue/tape them on?
Hi coops, I have been using this system for quite a long time now, I originally had some sticky labels but when they ran out I just printed them on a sheet of paper and cut them out and stuck them on with a glue stick, beware though, unless you use a lot of stamps, they have a time limit as far as validity goes (think it is about six months after that they are not usable) My only concern with this method is if you print them using an inkjet printer, what would happen if your stamp got wet and ran?? I always print on my laser printer.
3. Oh! perhaps if Vendee swearing is different to Corsican!! mention the film to a friend who is a big film buff (although many of them are, shall we say, something you don't see on telly unless you have a dvd!!) and he had never heard of it ??? I will give it a try, sounds to me like it might be something like trainspotting had to go with subtitles in America, mind you I know a Glasgow girl and if she gets a bit exited or heated I need subtitles too!![:D] but she is lovely (just in case she recognises me) seriously she is a lovely lass, phew!!
4. I quite like it when films are shown in the original language, and subtitled as it helps with french and the bits that got lost because of the speed! Anyway this film looks like it will have a lot of swearing in it!! I'm quite good at that in French after working in factories for the best part of 10 years!! [;-)] so I should be able to follow this film [:)]
5. is it being shown in french and subtitled in english? or has it been dubbed?
6. Same here in the Vendee, Our factory has now got a derogation (dispensation) we can now drive the lorries but at 40% of the normal load and restricted to 50kph, hopefully all will be back to normal by the weekend, probably will have to go to work tomorrow now as they are running out of stocked clay whoopee doo!!
7.
Totally off topic but, every time I see that heading, I think it says White Heroin!!!! Is it just me?
Nope! me too!! I started a thread I think on TF a while back about the same thing, I had never seen a heron sized bird completely white in these parts before (Vendee) a lot of replies suggested that it was an egret
8. It has been great this week for de-frosting the windscreen , wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the sacrilege thread :-)
9. Was this Stade de France? Surly, if it was, a national stadium like that has under soil heating to prevent such a freeze, or perhaps I am just missing something as a complete non sporty plonker! but a real bummer for the spectators and pretty inexcusable if there was any doubt a few days ago, it's not as though this wasn't forecast
10. As said, you need to turn the pump off or you could suck in air rather than expel it, there is normally a pressure gauge on or near the boiler and a tap connected to the mains water supply to allow you to refill the system, make sure you have plenty of pressure in the system then crack open the bleed valve on the offending radiator(s) until you get water coming out (this water will probably be quite black and will stain your wall or floor so have a bit of rag to catch any water expelled) it's not a difficult job as long as you know where the refill tap is, I find I have to do this a couple of times a season as the towel rail in the bathroom seems to collect the air over time hope this make sense.
11. I have never got my head round this, the UK pays france in the region of 3000 euros a year (if I have understood the system correctly) about the same amount of money an non actif would pay for private health insurance, equally it is around about the amount I pay in social on my salary, my contribution goes to CPAM (Caisse Primare "Assurance" malidie) and if I want to go abroad I have to get one from my insurer. So, as the UK are paying what is effectively your insurance why do you not get an ehic card issued by your caisse?  bizzare!
12.

Always an unmarked car tucked into one of the service roads with a box of tricks either on the car or on a tripod next to it,
That'll be the cash registers.
360million euro cash register !! according to a report I read in the paper (Ouest France), are they expensive to buy? I was thinking of installing one just outside my house [:D] edit, was 630 million!! http://blog.radars-auto.com/index.php?post/630-millions-d-euros-de-recettes-pour-les-radars-en-2011-708
13.
Thanks alot Isnt their an option afterwards, on what you can do? Also I understand from another thread the AE cannot charge the lower rate 5.5 percent.
If you have already set-up your AE then I doubt you can do anything, but I really don't know you would have to ask the pole emplois it may be possible to apply for ACCRE 5.5% ?? are you referring to TVA? if so, there is no provision for TVA registration with AE you would have to change regime for that. 14. You could also qualify for a sort of business start-up, when you sign on they will work out your allocation chomage, it is as for as I could work out worked out using length of service and wages in your previous job. They will then come up with a figure and that stipulates how much dole you get and for how long (probably a bit more complex than that but that is the essence) When decide to setup a business you can claim 50% of that figure from the pole emplois you receive in two stages one immediately and then another payment 6 months later (second payment does not arrive automatically, you have to send a letter that attesting that you are still in business to get the second tranch) In my case it was quite a substantial payment!! As posted above you should also qualify for ACCRE that will reduce you RSI payments for the first 3 years rough figue here year 1, 5% year 2, 10% and year 3, 15%. Opting to pay your tax at the same time as RSI cotis will also get you 3 years exemption from CFE (tax proffesional as it was) None of this was difficult to organise, unfortunatly, I am comming to the end of my 3 years so am going to have to pay full whack for everything now :-(( good luck
15. in the absence of any other replies I will try (but I have never worked for and agency) I am assuming you sign some form of employment contract (CDD) with the agency for a specific assignment?, if that is the case then I see no reason why doing this and running your AE should cause a problem. Your wage from the agency will have deductions (french NI) at source and you just declare your earnings at the end of the year on your tax form. I had numerous CDD contracts with a local company covering for sick drivers and holidays a couple of years ago and it was not a problem all the salaried work appeared on my tax form and I just entered the revenue for my AE in the appropriate box, simples!! (well as simple as a french tax form could be :-)) hope this helps and is correct of course!
16. DM earth can be bought at swimming pool suppliers like cash piscines, but they would probably only sell it in 25Kg bags which might be a bit over the top for your needs :-)
17. My colleagues at work think I am really weird!! simply because I have to have a packet of crisps with my sandwich, I am 52 years old now and since I went to work (at 16) I have always had a packet crisps with my sarnie When I was little Wednesday nights was heaven for me, I had a quick snack before going to cubs, a bowl of smiths crisps (with twisty blue packets of salt!) with a couple of slices of bread and butter which were turned into a crisp sandwich, those were the days!!
18. salad (Heinz) cream sarnies for me!! or a cheese (cheddar) and chip butty !! yummie!
19. There is usually a decorated box with a slot cut in it for people to put an envelope with either cash or a cheque in. You could put a nice card in it too if you wish,
20. I pay monthly via Net-Enterprise, I get an email reminder every month. As said you can do your declaration anytime during October but it must be done by 31 Oct (midday usually) if you log on and go to the declaration page you should see the deadline on there somewhere, if you do it now and then discover you have made an error the declaration remains editable until the cut off date/time. If you have given them your bank details the payment will be out of your accoune on the 1st Nov !! they can get that bit right :-) !! As this if your first declaration then you may not get an email until the first one has been registered???
21. me too, I have Vistalizator running on a win 7 laptop french to english, there are one or two things that don't translate to english bit it is not many. I believe i read somewhere that some updates override it and can cause problems but it hasn't happened here yet and I have been running it for best part of a year. of course that doesn't get over the fact you upgrade from vista to win 7, I just stumbled across a version of ultimate on ebay.fr new 99 euros it is english version but I guess you just need to download the French language pack after installing it
22. Or bite the bullet and order one now! 'cause if your monitor gives up you won't be able to see the site cause your monitor's not working [:D][:D] Tip!  if you order from Cdiscount and you have a siret no you can get a bit more discount!! look for cdiscount pro (on some things)
23. It is a few years ago, but I bought a towbar for my peugeot from Towequipe (link below) I saved a fortune even  having it sent to france Ordered and paid online, it arrived in just under 3 days! being heavy some of the packaging had split and a part had got lost, phoned them up and explained which part was missing and they dispatched a replacement bit no quibble! Total cost from memory was about 124 quid! including 48hr delivery, took it to Auto leclercs they fitted it for about 60 euros. A whole lot better than the 300+ euros I was quoted from the garage for the towbar only!! fitting extra!! http://www.towequipe.co.uk/
24. Most supermarkets have a product B NET Gros travaux, it has a picture of a house in red and blue on it, normally it is next to the bleach, costs about 5 euros for a 5 litre container, spray it on lightly with a garden sprayer (seems to work better on a dampish day but not raining) very effective on patios too.
