This winter has wrought havoc in the garden. Just had a good look round and cut back the grasses as it was the first day that temperatures were marginally above freezing. At first sight it seems that the plant loss will be heavy,either in pots or in the beds as the ground has frozen badly. Not had a winter as bad as this since being here. Maybe it is the sign of things to come. Curse it.

When I first started visiting France is the 1960s, almost all cars were French with Peugeot being really rugged. Nowadays I doubt that French cars are the majority for the middle classes. I have been with NatWest International in Jersey since 1972 and have thus far not experienced any problems. (Touch Wood!) They have been accepting new customers from other UK banks and building societies who have had their accounts closed though recently seem to have been a bit overwhelmed. Once the backlog has cleared they will doubtless take more.

To be fair BiB a number of nations are currently restless within the EU, eg Italy, Sweden, The Netherlands, Denmark, Greece..... Just a heads up for renewing the licence. It seems that over a certain age they want a medical certificate and, apparently will only accept a carte de séjour and not passport. This latter they dumped on me after I thought it had all gone through! Just out of interest, how long is it taking to get the renewal?

Should. e easy to get a stockbroker to sell the shares for you and to pay the money to a UK bank account. They will of course want the share certificates or whatever passes for them these days.

Is it possible that the bit with no ditch has been piped at some point for whatever reason and that the pipe has become blocked over the years? They use 12 inch pipe round here by the look of it and are forever clearing them. I would start with the locals, your neighbours then the mairie if it is small and near as they usually know the state of things. And whoever is your local member of the conseil communale.

Everyone is thoroughly fed up at the moment, ALBF, what with Covid, an interminable winter, flooding ( well round here anyway), closed frontiers, no sausages.... It will improve, albf. One tip is to keep away from negative people who only serve to depress you and yours, in the end.

Wait for a year, see how things settle down in France and UK, once Covid is beginning to ease and Brexit hopefully sorting itself. And once the taxes for the virus have been announced!

Wish I could help easily but I only use online sites for buying and selling which are not much use in this case. Whichever, you would need a UK stockbroker who should sell the shares for a small cost. As I have never used one I could not recommend one. ( J P Morgan Securities,, perhaps?) Dont use the bank though as they are a bunch of bunch of ******* thieves. Sorry I am not much more use.
