1. Thanks Wallifer,  it's a bit of a mess here, but it was a lot worse for others. There are some pictures in sud-ouest this morning... Roofs and crops destroyed
2. Our roof looks like a colander this morning. [:(] Pompiers are coming to put a bache over it.
3. You might be interested in the festival Africajarc, in Cajarc (Lot)
4. Yes, definitely amazed 5-E. At first I thought it was a deflated balloon or some bit of child's toy, because the colours are so loud, I was amazed when it wriggled!  Had to stop weeding that area (any excuse!) and put some shady leaves over it... it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
5. Found this Death's head hawk moth caterpillar in the vegetable garden today, near the above ground potatoes.  I wonder if it is the same as the one you saw near a potato field 5-E? It is certainly big. I put the secateurs near to give an idea of size... about 10cm long I reckon. 6. Hi partout, There's a stamp or sticker on the back of the certificate d'immatriculation showing the expiry date of the CT.
7.
I like eating vegetarians [:-))]
I like vegetarians, but I couldn't eat a whole one. [+o(]
8.
This is quite interesting. I have a paypal account registered in the UK. So if I were to sell on Ebay .fr could this be used to receive monies from buyers simply??? Or are there problems doing that? I used to buy and sell a lot in the UK, mainly before I moved over here and downsized via E bay!!  Over here I still need to sell some stuff but I buy from the UK and have a few friends who let me use their address for deliveries and then bring the items when they come over.
Yes you can receive any currency through your Paypal account. Paypal automatically converts receipts to Sterling, unless you change the paramaters of your account to multiple currencies. I have set up my (originally UK) paypal account to trade in Euro & Sterling, i.e. there are two balances. I can then choose which one I want to use to pay. Take a look HERE for more info.
9. Here are updated links to DWP website: Living abroad (EU) but not working E106 "Prior to visiting any other EEA country you will need to get an EHIC from the UK for your medical cover. When form E106 is issued to you, you will also be sent an EHIC application pack. Send the completed form to the NHS Business Services Authority in the envelope provided." SOURCE Living abroad (EU) but not working E121 "If you and any members of your family visit any other EEA country you will need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to cover any necessary medical treatment if you visit another EEA member state. You should get one from the sickness insurance authorities in the country in which you live." SOURCE To summarise: If you have an E106 apply to the UK for a EHIC If you have an E121 apply in France for a CEAM Hope it's of use.
10. That's what my carte grise looks like and mine is a 'French' car. I think there's a newer version now, but it's not significantly different from the picture I posted. Garagiste having a blonde moment?!
11.
Anyway, I have the old CT (which was done using the UK registration certificate), and my certificate d'immatriculation.
The pale blue(ish) piece of paper entitled "Certificat d'Immatriculation" is the 'carte grise.' 12. Hi Nectarine, the red are for France, blue are for the rest of Europe.
13.
it is operated by/on behalf of SNCF, so I would have thought standard SNCF conditions for dogs would apply.  Unfortunately their site is sufficiently difficult to negotiate that I cannot find anything about dogs.
SNCF policy re: dogs is HERE

Very sorry to read that, Gardian.  You looked after Mick well.  Best wishes.
15. The Epicerie Anglaise in Trie-sur-Baise (65) stocks Quorn fillets, mince and chunks.
16. Here's my take, JR Ceruse = white lead, ceruse. It's a type of white paint, used (usually) for the ground of the painting.  Pâte à sel = salt dough Trompe à l'oeil = trompe l'oeil. Note that we don't usually use the a in English. Relooking meubles = reworked furniture.   Exposition temporaires = temporary exhibitions. You could use exhibition programme (or programme of exhibitions) as that implies a changing display. Depending on the type and standard of the 'craft' work you might want to call it 'applied art' Hope that's useful.
17. 'Black' is in the charity's name for the same reason as the two associations below include an adjective; to indicate a core interest. National Disabled Police Association (registered charity no. 1119910) Christian Police Association (registered charity No. 220482) From the website "The definition of "Black" does not refer to skin colour.  (...) Everyone within policing is eligible to join the NBPA (There is no barrier to membership)" I think that the other associations need to be equally inclusive, if not they would fall foul of the Charities Commission regulations.
18. Benjamin - presumably you have read the eligibility document HERE, which runs to several pages.  I would agree with Tony, re: claiming in France, certainly if you've lived there for more than five years. However, DLA is unusal in that it is not means tested. I'm not familiar enough with the French social security system to know if there's an equivalent to DLA but if you're struggling to survive, then the CAF would be able to orient you towards some help. Alternatively, talk to the MDPH as I know Mrs B already has a dossier there. Good luck.
19. What next, turning out of pockets to make sure that 'excess baggage' isn't being smuggled aboard surreptitiously?!
20. That will be your challenge next year Sweet; to concentrate on your soul & not your soles. [;-)]   MT of C has a special message for you,   It is impossible to walk rapidly and be unhappy. Mother Teresa   [:D] I'm sorry, it was irresistable.
21.
we need silence to be able to touch soles. Mother Teresa of Calcutta
She had a foot fetish?
22.
you are not allowed carrier bags!I believe.
Not in the plural, no. 'Strictly one item of hand luggage' was written into the T&Cs a while ago, lately they are starting to enforce it.** Taking one large carrier bag to swallow handbag/purchases/laptop/overnight bag/lunch is a good idea.  I'll have to remember that.   **As Kevinmc says, enforcement of the regulations varies depending on the airport, but Security/Ryanair take no prisoners at Stansted!
23.
I agree it's probably rubbish and I have no problem in going and getting a letter if I have to, I was interested in others opinions or experiences.
My experience is that I've never been asked for such a letter.
The Impots know nothing of E106's, be they workers or otherwise, why should they, it's nothing to do with them.
Impots would know because you tell them on your tax form. This is from the forum Tax FAQs: Finally, if your French healthcare cover is courtesy of an E-form, then you are exempt from social charges (contributions sociales) on your UK company and old age pensions.  So, on the 2047 section VIII  REVENUS DE SOURCE ÉTRANGÈRE SOUMIS EN FRANCE À L’IMPÔT SUR LE REVENU ET IMPOSABLES À LA CONTRIBUTION POUR LE REMBOURSEMENT DE LA DETTE SOCIALE (C.R.D.S.) - just write in 'Titulaire de formulaire E121 (or whichever E-form you have), donc je ne suis pas a la charge de l'assurance maladie' and leave the amount box blank.
