1. The pitch in Paris looks pretty ropey and is cutting up badly as well.
2.
Do they really have the word entrenapeur in the dictionary? If so what is the French meaning to this word.
This is a wind up? Yes?
3. I usually respond with a polite observation regarding sex and travel. However, on one occasion, I pretended to be following their instructions (without touching my PC of course) and pretended to be confused when the things they were telling me weren't working. After a reasonable period I became bored and then reverted to my sex and travel out pouring.
4. The writing has been on the wall for Jessops for a long time. Many of their stores were poorly stocked more recently and couldn't even show you many of the items. The quality of staff varied a lot. Some stores had reasonably knowledgeable staff, others not. They suffered from the showroom then buy on-line problem. Their online prices were OK but generally not the best. Not a suprise I'm afraid but not good news for the already depleted high streets or for the people losing their jobs. What with the lost 800 Honda jobs, not a good week.
5.
So, you are right about government being left to our democratically elected representatives. We elect and pay them to debate contentious issues and sort them out.
But many of us don't trust or respect them. This applies across parties.
6. They lost the plot years ago. Now they have no way of fixing it. Obama (or any other US politician) doesn't have the gonads to legislate and even if they did, they've gone way beyond the point of no return with the sheer volume of firearms available. This type of tragedy will continue to repeat itself year after year.
7. That's it. I regularly use Calibre. Very easy to use.
8.
I have been looking to buy a reader for my wife. During my research I discovered that there are many different electronic book formats. The biggest no, no, for me is that Amazon uses a particular format which can be read on just about anything (PC, Android tablet or IPad) but you can't read other formats on a Kindle. I am therefore looking at getting her an Android tablet, cheaper than an Ipad, just as good but still expensive compared to Amazon offerings. Mind you there are loads of Amazon offerings out there for free that you can download as torrents. I am stil deciding at the moment exactly what to buy her, I need to get out this week and have a play with a few.
You may find that Calibre is your friend. http://calibre-ebook.com/
9. You can't automatically presume that the indicated speed on your satnav is 100% accurate either. It is probably more accurate than your speedo but how accurate will depend on the contours of the road you are driving on, possibly the gradient, how good the sat lock is et,c etc.
10. Yup, that's what we do... hope it works OK again this winter.

Abu Hamza

They should have had a car waiting to get him off to a plane ride the minute word got out from the European Court. What has happened now was entirely predictable.
12. I can't get my mind around this one. The child is in a pushchair alongside mother and grandparent. Someone goes up to the child and gives it a bottle. And the parent does what exactly? Carry on munching their Big Mac?
13.
You don't want your breasts to make the headlines? Don't show them.
Rubbish. If you are doing it well away from what could be considered the public gaze then you are entitled to your privacy regardless of who you are.
14. If you have a high sided vehicle you might.
15. Ian. You have a closing message on your post which reads "Wishing Deb were here beside me." I'm sure that all her friends are wishing that she were here with us as well. I'm so sorry.
16. My heartfelt good wishes to both of you. You are in my thoughts.
17. Shock, horror and amazement... who would have dreamt of such a thing!
18. My first chainsaw was a McCulloch and tbh it was fine. Starting wasn't a problem. I did have to play around with the oilways as I had a problem with the chain not getting lubricated properly but nothing major. I've now got s Stihl which is very nice to use.
19. This is certainly a messy area. I've got two blu-ray players (Sony), but different models. I've got a load of mpeg4 files that will play fine on the one I have in the UK but not on the one in France. I've now got to convert these to DVD format.
20.
Is it free? When I clicked to download to my Kindle it says there will be a document service charge, which I haven't met before?
I got these two options... Deliver for free to:  Derek's Kindle (via Wi-Fi) and... Deliver to: Derek's Kindle* * Personal Document Service fee applies. I took the free option.
21. Looks good, just downloaded to my Kindle.  Thanks...
22. I can recommend some engine bars.... [:$]
23. Nothing for the GS that I could find from that link. Edit... I never searched far enough.
24. I'll be settling down to watch this today.... a little rain would make it all the more interesting.[6] Boonen is the favourite, just a shame Cancellara is out through injury.
