1. Earlier today I wrote to my MP... for all the good it will do. I get fed up with the standard answer.. "well, it's the Act of human rights". What can we do? If being signed up to the Act for human rights means pieces of sh*t like this  get away with this we should take whatever action we need to ensure they don't. [:@][:@][:@]
2. Everything is priced in Dollars/Cents so definitely not the UK. Edited... beaten to it... twice. Ooops
3. Absolutely... just off for a bike ride now.
4.

Woooooah crossey 67 - it's only a 'light' entertainment TV talent show - not so sure that warrants you insulting the 11m + people that enjoy watching it - for a bit of fun. Do you remember 'fun' crossey67.......? Simon (not Cowell)
Personally, crossey summed up pretty totally my own perspective. Was crossey "Insulting the 11 m+ people" or being painfully honest in his analysis? Sadly, as always, invariably, the truth hurts. It's not "Fun": it's brainwashing of the people who have undeveloped minds. And furthermore, it is all part of the great corporate scam: masquerade earning vast and undeserved sums as "Popular Entertainment", leverage the brand for even greater cash: and more cynically, con the dipsticks into spending their own cash to vote on a worthless poll. In my definition, "Fun" is something I do actively and enjoy doing: not sitting glued to the sofa watching exploiters like Slimon Crawl manipulate the gullible for his own ends. Escapism and relaxation? Listen to some decent music; read a good book; or get outside and take some exercise.
Gluey... I'm with you.
5. Hi cooperlola.  I understand your viewpoint entirely.  In the spirit of this thread.. it's " horses for courses". [:D]  Funnily enough, SWMBO who only cycles a bit for pleasure and exercise gets really hooked by the TdeF. I try and watch as much cycling as I can and I'm totally hooked but I'm also biased. I just got back from a 40 mile bike ride today and I plan to try and do the odd sportive event in 2011. Re the DEATH ON THE MOUNTAIN program... no, I missed that. That's a shame.
6. Well,  I have ridden horses but only for a bit of hacking... so obviously nothing like the level of the jockeys. I don't doubt that they are very fit at what they do. However, just look at the big climbs on the Tour de France and the speed they ride up them. This is major continuous, unadulterated pain often ridden in exceptionally high temperatures. Not only do the cyclists need to have exceptional fitness levels but their mental courage is also paramount.
7. Sorry, but I'll be supporting Mark Cavendish. I prefer sports where the sportsperson has to rely on their own skill and athleticism. This isn't to denigrate people like Tony McCoy.. great skill and courage but, the horse is providing the "motor". Cyclists at the level of Cavendish ... ie. those riding the grand tours, have a level of fitness and athleticism is beyond my comprehension (and I did sport at an international level).
8. As they say "don't try this at home".  Well, that puts me in my place...[:$] No way I would try that. I don't know what tyres they were using but it never looked like the big spiked tyres they use for ice speedway.
9.
Derek (Or others) pardon my ignorance but does the orange box go above the ceiling?
BIG MAC... the orange box ix inset into the ceiling. The white cover (with the hook in it) screws into the the orange box and is fairly flush with the ceiling. HTH
10. I think Weedon was asking whether, after having received the training, Cameron's performance was sufficiently improved to justify the cost??? IMO he still doesn't come across very well. I say this as a Conservative voter. He still reminds me of the many salemen I have worked with. However, compared to the opposition he doesn't seem any worse and, to me, a bit better and compared to his old adversary Brown a million times better.
11. However, my dad used to have one of these and there were numerous times when we went round to him and found he had left it somewhere and wasn't wearing it. We constantly nagged him but we still couldn't rely on him wearing it.  Good idea though.
12. Thank goodness for that. Unfortunately it won't stop the media coverage and no doubt they will view it as a national disaster.  Personally, seeing Cameron, William and Beckham  pleading with the dubious members of FIFA was not a pleasant sight.
13.
The most amazing thing about this farce, is "The bid team"  blaming the BBC and the press for lowering the UK's bid chances by publishing damaging reports about FIFA. How about blaming FIFA for being an embarrassment as possibly one of the most corrupt organisations in the world?
The more exposure of these FIFA chancers the better.   And guess what... one of them is on International Olympic Team gravy train as well. What a suprise! NOT! [:'(]
14. Don't know if this helps? I think I need to re-read it as I'm still confused.
15. On my NAD amp I have, to quote the handbook "a Front panel Media Player (MP) input for attaching portable MP3 Player". I can connect either my iPod directly to the amp via this or my laptop via the headphone socket.  I don't use either as my prime music input but when I do use it I've found the quality to be pretty good... and this is in compressed mp3 format. I haven't played back straight ripped audio via this method but I would presume this would be even better.
16. papachapa, why don't you catch the next available flight out there and show them how to do it. I'm sure they will be eternally grateful to you for sharing your wisdom. You could put on the  Draegers and lead them down.
17.
Thanks, that is really helpful Derek. If I've got this right then the wirng with the shade etc needs to be affixed into the snap off thing and then the snap off thing inserted into the hole in the ceiling. When the lampshades where chosen they were dangling long and lit up from the ceiling of the shop, but the instructions say from a quick glance that for maximum safety only 8 cms of the cable should be used., so I think the lampshades and fittings will be closer to the ceiling than originally anticipated. I'll give it a go tuesday .
That's it. Hope it goes well.
18. One thing you can be sure of is that over the coming (endless) months every idiot and his dog will make some proclomation regarding this wedding. Some of it may be correct... most of it will be pure invention or so trivial as to be beyond belief.  I watched "Have I got more news for you" last week and thought they summed up the situation pretty well. And if anyone else says the news of the wedding has "lifted the country" I think I'll commit murder. It hasn't lifted me... As  Rhett Butler said to Scarlett O'Hara....  Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn
19. I just edited your photo to show what I mean.
20. Attached to the bulb holder there should be a little connector which will snap off from the bulb holder. You take your light cable and wire it into this little connector and then push the connector in where the bulb holder was.
21. Try this link. It gives the same answer as given earlier in this thread.
22. The armistice was signed in 1918 but the official peace was signed with the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919.
23. So now it looks like that although the UK stayed out of the Euro, the British taxpayer is still going to end up shelling out money to bail out the Irish mess. I never thought we had any money left but it seems we do!
24. Well done to another Sebastien.... Loeb this time. Just been watching him win the final rally of the season, Wales Rally GB, having already wrapped up the world championship. The skill of these guys is unbelievable. It appeals to me a whole lot more than F1.
25.
@ Derek : You sound like my o/h.  If he could have gone up and kissed Petrov, he would have done!
[:D][:D][:D] Just like me. As the laps progressed I was thinking "keep him there Petrov".
