1. We have a whirlpool oversized toploader - american product and built like a brick outhouse. SWMBO very pleased with results.
2. Yep, gave a magicmouse to SWMBO .... couple of months later it is in the top drawer! SWMBO finds the macbook pad too intuitive.
3. It is for your builder to supply you with a devis that complies with the current french regulations ... I would also ask to see his insurance to make sure it covers the works envisaged (at that he has it).  There are some good British builders out here but also a lot of sharks ... shame Watchdog isn't international!
4.
Money in excess of your needs, usually inherited, which you pretend to have gained by thrift, thus giving you the moral high ground over people who have struggled all their lives to make ends meet. With inheritance often comes the duty and expectation that you will add to it before handing over to the next generation. The higher the bar is set the harder it is to make your own mark.
I smile at the expectation of handing on wealth ... although our boys should be fortunate. Both my wife and I have asked, and received, nothing .... Indeed for my first 5 years of employment I helped my mother repay her mortgage. Any money we have squirreled away are due to our combined effort - obviously we have not begrudged helping the listless, thru our taxes, over the years.
5. Probably have helped you if you had researched through a forum like this, I see it is your first post, before signing with an estate agent. "Poshtotty" may be your moniker ... There you go ... Polite
6. Amazing how many "1st posts" know a great builder ... thank god there is no advertising of own businesss.
7. Another negative for TomTom is map coverage if you travel a lot. Garmin covers all of Europe plus Turkey and some Eastern Bloc countries - a chum of mine recently had to purchase additional maps when we toured Greece and Turkey on our bikes. You can keep your maps updated with a lifetime deal (80 odd pounds) with Garmin. I have TomTom on my iPhone which I use in towns as a pedestrian. You takes your chance but look at what is included, what map coverage there is and how much it is to update .... my friend's update to include Greece at additional expense did not show the new motorway my Garmin update had picked up - he was spitting feathers.
8. If your friends card is not tied to the Sky+ machine then you will not get the recording facility; likewise when card removed. Recording facility only works with a subscription tied to that machine! That is why we have a Humax PVR - no subscription and we can record all Free2air channels.
9. I have an iPhone loaded with TomTom and, distributed amongst our various modes of transport, 4 Garmin's - I like Garmin's Lifetime updates - you can set what information you hear ... so deselect "rue de la whatever" and just get left or right. Likewise your routing preferences can be set on a computer with a sliding scale for type of roads to be used - this can then be downloaded to your GPS. Don't blame Garmin - it is all there you just need to set the system to your preferences!
10. I have had absolutely no problems with Allopneus. Used 4 times - prompt service and very good price ... certainly better than British prices being offered on other forums!!
11. Thanks for heads-up. Garmin 760 of ours is recalled.  Garmin contacting us shortly. 250, 265 and 660 are good. Nice one :) Vern
12. You have been helpful, allowed them to continue safely.  Used a lot in Italy, Spain and Greece.  I use it less around Naples ... they are all out to kill you!! :)
13. Perhaps a time penalty for both cars - 1m10 for Alonso and 1m for Massa ... that is how it would have hurt .... points means millions.  Mind you McClaren wouldn't thank me for that idea!!
14. I use www.Proxz.com $25 every 3 months thru PayPal - easy to cancel.  Lets you select VPN/ISP Country that suits.  I use BBC & Sky iplayer from France and Italy.
15. Under 170 sqm does not need an architect ... have a chat to your Maire - you'll be surprised how simple the procedure is.
16.
No sorry still don't get it, I pay £5 pm for unlimited internet cannot see how that is a rip off? France is far more that way, expensive data downloads, have to pay for high rate KW supply for electric even if you don't use it, I could go on........
Electric ... we are on EJP 18 KW!!
17. They get away with it 'cos everyone considers UK, commercially, to be a plump pigeon ripe for plucking!!
18. God Bless rip-off UK.  I bought my iphone in Italy and it is unlocked!  I swop between Italian, French and UK Sim Cards ... roaming data thru my italian provider is not bad.
19. I understand the Swedish Netball team has a strong following!!
20. Still hopeful for a competitive quote locally rather than purchasing online. Vernon
21. Our Sky+ box has worked well for years ... we gave an address and explained the place had no phone line.
