1.   1  If it's a stand alone woodburner it is designed to stand on its feet. 2  It is best to use a flue that fits and was designed for the woodburner. 3  If the woodburner was designed to be used without a damper you should be OK.   Just looked at the pic and it would seem to be a 'built in unit'. It will probably work OK but you won't get mamy admiring glances.... It doesn't look very pretty if you do not mind me saying. Couldn't you find a freestanding woodburner?
2. I liked the subtle back handed putdown of her husband to be... "Arthur Richards head of the Federal Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur at 42, he was nearly 20 years her senior. At that time Richards was considered something of a misogynist, albeit with a fine future ahead of him."
3. There is only one way to find out. Offer what it is worth to you. Have you checked out Notaires property sales they can be a lot cheaper as are forced or bereavement sales for instance.
4. Don't mess around with onions and honey - swig down strong beer and chopped up garlic it works with more efficiency.
5. Sounds like a Stag Beetle Lavae - put it in the compost or near some well rotting wood, they take three or four years to develop on its low protein diet. Lovely critters and should be encouraged.
6. Good grooming is very important and dogs love it....
7. Look in Autotrader you can probably buy a van cheaper than cost of hire - especially if you need to do more than one trip.
8. Keep an eye on pooch - these collars will not stop ticks infecting your canine companion.

Aubeterre is about half an hour North of where I live - it has excellent bridge jumping and a great weir for canoeing with nearly a two metre sheer drop. It's a bit of a journey for you but there are two good Trocs in Perigueux, the manager of one speaks perfect English and is very helpful.

The French can be mean and take everything movable. I declined to buy the furniture and contents knowing it would be a hassle to the owners to get rid of the house contents. They left everything so we did quite well.

A Troc is a trocante a shop that sells just about anything on commision. You'll usually find modern through to antique furniture. I reckon there are some absolute bargains if you like older classical furniture. Dressers for instance in oak for around 100 euros you couldn't even buy the wood to make one for that price. In 24 there are plenty of artisans making furniture and chairs and they are not expensive.

Remember if you buy quality furniture from a Troc it will hold its value so it is not really expensive. Saw an amazing piece of furniture this week a stone sideboard and matching mirror all very 1970's and must have been made by Fred Flintstone.
13.
This September has been bad for us as well.  We have had all sorts of bad events happen but in our new bathroom the pipe behind the shower tap cracked in the middle of the night and flooded behind the wall and through the ceiling below so appears we have had similar experiences.[:(] Luckily no hit on the head though, touch wood! [:)]
Exactly the sane happened to us after the ensuite was plumbed in. The bloomin' pipe that blew off was behind the false wall for the shower so we had to break through the tiles to mend it. In future we will do all the work ourselves then we can actualy get hold of the bodge artist that caused the fault.
14. The wifelet awoke me with some urgency at 3am last night and it wasn't for the usual reason. She had woken up thinking there was a terrible rainstorm outside - except it wasn't. There was steam escaping from our ensuite and a stream running through the bedroom. She opened the bathroom door and was engulfed in steam and a tsunami. The flexible hot hose to the tap had fractured dumping hot water at great pressure. Luckily it was sunny today and I have spent the day drying out books and kites from the room downstairs - I lost a lot of tissue kites. Bloomin' annoying as they are difficult to replace. We now realise we have had all the original flexible hoses to sinks and basins replaced after only four years. The others have just dripped or weeped and I got blamed for widdling on the downstairs loo floor! September has just been a series of pants events - the hammock collapsed - one end is attached to a tree the other to a large 8 inch diameter post into the earth. It broke - my head was at that end and the post smacked my forehead then cartwheeled over between my legs - skinning them badly in the process. I dropped three foot and somehow was not knocked out but still feel dizzy a week later. Happy days - things can't get worse - can they?
15. Look in the yellow pages for a Distillator - we have one nearby he has a machine that looks like an early steam engine that he will distil any fruit you take to him. He is a bit of a character a Pole with a face like a relief map of the moon and a big belly - his house has fallen down and he lives under a tarpulin - but he seems to enjoy his work and  produce - probably too much.
16. Great work - how about a motorcycle or a combine harvester next?
17. There must be a very dodgy travel agent in vatican city if they can persuade an old man to go on holiday in UK. He'll get hypothermia if he visits a beach - I wonder if he nips down and puts his pectoral cross and mitre on the sun lounger before breakfast. I bet he's going to Scotland first to get a trip around the Buckfast Abbey brewery and then going to shoot up to Glasgow - then feasting on deep fried Mars Bars. I bet he'll be sending some interesting postcards back to the boys in vatican city.
18.
What would be a reasonable ammount to pay changeover staff. Thanks
What are they changing over?
19.

Anyone that turns up must be in fancy dress - plenty of beer and a band will be at the wake.
Bonzo Dog, doo dah band? [:)]
Sadly Vivian Stanshall has already shrugged of his mortal coil - what a mellifluous voice  - I could listen to him all day.
20. I always though the Paso was an excellently styled bike well ahead of its time. Honda nicked the flowing lines for the CBR 600's.
21. I mean to live forever or die in the attempt. My father has already purchased all the family a plot in the churchyard. My hearty dislike is funeral directors - those insincere money grabbers. I want the grave dug by one of my brothers and the coffin made from old pallets. Anyone that turns up must be in fancy dress - plenty of beer and a band will be at the wake. I also want to leave an endowment to supply a free barrel of Fullers ESB to be made available in my favourite pub on my birthday every year.
22. How big is the chimney? You won't get much draw with a massive flue/chimney. If you are happy that your chimney is sound use enamel pipe.
23. We all may like to moan about blighty at times but Cadwell followed by Mallory are my favourite circuits. Though both getting a bit dicey for modern motorcycles.
24.

Might we ban all use of the word and discussions of the concept of integration, svp?
Spoil sport! Dog, old chap, please add those of us who are stuck indoors against their will! (Although you'll be pleased to hear that I got my new license the other day so am allowed to drive outside France and thus am en route to Silverstone in the morning.)
Sorry I forgot you. I heartily dislike Silverstone as a race track - so flat and boring and now bumpy - it's always cold and windy. Get yourself an Ordance Survey map there are two public rights of way through the circuit - so why pay to get in. Park for free around the back of Stowe School - bit of a walk but saves money. May not be for you as a bit of a walk. Forgot to add I know the artist that did all the art for the posters when it first became a race track.
25. You may be correct or things may have changed over the summer months as the majority have been very busy or enjoying the sun leaving only the seller uppers and moaners at the computer. Would the UK let you in or are the CID still looking for you?
