  1. Thank you everyone for your help. I have decided to buy in France. Mainly to avoid hassle but also because I believe cars retain their value here so whilst I'll pay more I think I'll get a greater percentage back of what I paid when I sell. So thanks again
  2. thanks that's the sort of response I'm lookinf for
  3. I think my tendency would be to run a car as long as possible. Buying cars is not my strong point.
  4. I suppose I wonder if people thing the financial saving is significant or not. I'll already be in the UK - so have to get back anyway. Thanks
  5. Thanks for that. Yes, I think the CofC are a rip off. Fancy having to pay a vehicle manufacturer a lot of money to say their vehicle (especially a French one) conforms! Yes, I realize it's a hassle and that there are other expenses to take into account but is it worth it for the saving?
  6. I knew that really. But thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for your responses.
  7. I have just sold my vehicle and am considering my next move. Do I buy a car in the uk - (seem much cheaper)second hand and bring it over or do I buy one here in France (seem very expensive)? I'm really not bothered about RHD/LHD as I am used to both. I have Euros. Any advice, experience etc... very, very much appreciated as I know nothing about cars at all. Thanks
  8. Thanks Sunday Driver So I can only recuperate the TVA if I'm a business. What if I'm just an ordinary worker? REgards
  9. I'm sorry if this issue has been covered before. I am considering buying a new kangoo van (two seats) from the UK and importing it into France where I am resident. I won't be paying VAT on it in the UK but will be require to pay TVA. I have noticed whilst searching on French site that TVA may be "recuperable" on utility vehicles. Could that be the case for a new one imported from the UK. Thanks so much for any advice.
  10. Help my posting has been hyjacked!!!!  Can you please have your arguement in your own posting. Thanks
  11. Hi I'm the original poster.  Sorry that I've caused a bit of a row!  Anyway, just curious what's the objection to the KYMO.  I've seen good reviews on the internet.  The seller is asking 1250 euros for a bike owned just by him, registered in 2006 but it's only done 1250km.  Is this not a good deal?  I really know nothing about scooters whatsoever and am looking for advice.  I want a scooter to be more ecological. Thanks again
  12. Thanks for responding Mel.  What are you getting? After thinking about it for a bit - I think I might need something with a bit more power - 125cc I think.  Does anyone know if there any legal limitations in France?  Would a 125 scooter be ok for doing longish journey of 50km or so? Thanks for your time
  13. I don't know if this the right place, but I'm thinking about getting a scooter.  Does anyone know anything about this particular model?  Will it be fast enough to get round the country roads?  Any adivce gratefully received. Thanks
  14. Sorry, yes. Do I still need to register it at the local Mairie? Thanks again.
  15. Thanks Pickles, thats very helpful
