1. I have a copy of the posting. Although the end seems to stop abruptly  in the old posting also. [*-)] The missing part is as follows:- Highlight it and select "properties" at the right of the window.  In the dialog box that comes up, change the name to "UK".  Select the "connection" tab and uncheck the box that says "always connect using".  Then click on O.K to close the box. Highlight the new account and select "properties"as above.  change the name to "France".  Find the line just below this where it gives the email address.  This should give your main (U.K?) email address, not the new French one.  If it doesn't then change it.  Click on "O.K" to close the box. Highlight the entry for the country that you are in and click on the "set as default" button at the right of the window.  You should always change the default setting to suit the country that you are in.   From now on whenever you create an outgoing message you will find that the top line where it says "From" has a drop down box attached to it at the far right of the line.  You MUST ensure that all outgoing messages are selected to show the country that Sorry but I really did copy the full posting??  I hope this helps anyway Pat
2. I wonder if anyone else is into stained glass?  I've been going to classes for about 4 years now, making all sorts of things including leaded windows and tiffany lamps.  We are moving over to France in January and I'm worrying about where I can get supplies of glass, lead, copper foil etc.   We are going to be in 53 near the border with 61 and wonder if anyone knows of the nearest supplier.  I currently live in Lincolnshire and have to send away for it and am expecting to have to do so in France also.  Meanwhile I am stocking up as much as I can before the BIG move. Many thanks Pat
3. Thanks Eslier.  We already have a cottage in France and took  our old digibox over last year and use it with one of the Freeview cards(£20).  I will contact the guy who put the dish in for me and ask him about the extra LMB thingy and leads.  I wasn't sure if it would work at all and am pleased to hear that it will.   Pat
4. We are moving over to France in January and currently have Sky+ here in the U.K.  Will the Sky+ box work in France?  I would obviously keep up the subscription and give my son's address as the mailing address in the U.K.  Pat
5. Rob, We bought our card from FreeSat from Sky for £20 from www.freesatfromsky.com Just look up details on Q and A on their site and it tells you you can buy just the card for £20 or the package for £150, if you decide to go down this route. Hope this is of some help Pat
6. Paolo, Sorry I don't know the answer to this.  I only know what we did.  We are coming over to France full time, once our house in the U.K is sold. I'm not sure what to do with my Sky card (the one with the subscription) when we move. Not sure whether to cancel it or keep it and still pay the direct debit via our English bank account.  I could use my son's address in the U.K. as the mailing address as we have had sky for many years and don't need to keep it connected to the phone socket. There is so much rubbish on Sky these days to be honest I hardly think it's worth keeping. I like to think that during the winter months we can watch a British film now and then and of course Tony can't do without football   I think the Free to view will serve the purpose for this.  Although I will miss Discovery and History channels I hope someone can give you an answer on activating in the U.K.  Good luck Pat
7.
"In the u.k we have the subscription card and pay monthly for a package. In France we have the Free to View."Just a thought: Do you think it may make a difference if you already "exist" (by having a ...
Clair, this is possible, although you would think Sky would think it odd that I wanted a second card all be it a totally different sort of card when I already have the package and an extra connection, which they installed in another room.  We ordered our Free to View card from www.freesatfromsky.com which is a totally different web site to the normal Sky web site, last January.  The guy who installed our dish in France used to be a Sky engineer in the U.K.  He is now a registered installer in France.  He was actually selling the Free to View cards . If we had not brought our own card with us we could have bought one off him!  He told me he had never had any problems activating the cards.   Pat
8. Paulo, I got an awful lot of flack on another French forum for attempting to explain how we activated our card as I do not think they could tell the difference between a Free to View sat card (£20) and the usual subscription Sky card.  I will risk my neck on here and explain how it worked for us.  When you have got your box installed and your dish up, insert your Free to View sat card.  After a few seconds a message should come up on the screen asking you to ring  a u.k number to activate the card.  When you received your card through the post originally, you should have been given these instructions then also. I used my u.k mobile and rang the number.  She told me that it may take up to 24 hours to activate the card.  She didn't question me at all or ask my land line number.  In actual fact it took about 10 minutes for the picture to come through.  The guy who installed it for me waited to check it was o.k and that was that. I think there are a number of people who are confused between these two cards.  We have both.  In the u.k we have the subscription card and pay monthly for a package.  In France we have the Free to View.  On the 'other forum' a number of people stated that it was not possible to ring and register from a mobile in France as the number would be checked by Sky and permission would be refused.  I can only say that I did this, without a problem. Of course it does bear mentioning that it is against Sky's terms and conditions to do what I did. Good luck Pat
9. Yes, it's faster than usual today.  Thank you.
10.
No cossie in that photo !
Hmmm
11. Can't imagine you in socks Peter We only ever see you (well nearly) in your cozzie Pat
12. During the summer they were extending our local LeClerc's during normal shopping hours On one particular day when  were shopping, they had the centre sectioned cordened off with ribbons and were cutting and laying floor tiles.  The shop was full of dust, and the air was a complete fog of dust clouds.  Amazingly, fresh food, bread including clothes etc. were still on display
13. We registered our Free Sat Sky card (£20) with Sky by ringing them on the mobile from our holiday cottage in France.  She took the registration number and activated it immediately, it only took about a minute.  We have had no problems with it.  Each time we come over it works even though we turn off the electric whilst we are away to comply with our insurance policy.
14. Many thanks Ecossais,  I have done as you suggested and everything seems much better.
15. I have just had to have a new hard drive put into my PC and everything seems to be o.k apart from the font size on this forum??  I have tried everything to increase it (must be about size 6!!).  Can anyone help me before I get the magnifying glass out again.  I've been on 'view' and increased the text size to 'largest' but nothing happens. Many thanks in advance
16. We have had our cottage in France for three years now and most of the time has been spent renovating, painting etc.  However in the summer when we have two whole weeks to spend there we have been determined to spend some of that time exploring other areas in France and staying for a few days here and there. Over the years we have visited many places, mostly in Europe and had really started to hate the whole cenario of queuing up at airports, waiting for bags and being shepherded on and off coaches.  Noisy fellow passengers, screaming kids Now we feel like we are in charge of our own life and drive onto the ferry or onto the shuttle and away we go. We will be living in France permanently soon and I'm sure there are enough beautiful areas and fantastic sights to keep us going for a good while to come. Pat
17. Thank you for taking the trouble to reply.
18. Thanks for this advice. Presumably then Tony will come off cover available through me and pay his own contributions at 8% and become part of the French system in his own right?  Do you pay on every euro earned or do people on very low wages pay a reduced amount as in U.K?  Sorry for my ignorance on this subject.
19.
Don't forget that once your wife is 60 and qualifies for her OAP she can get an E121 which will then give cover for her and you without payment into the French service. You would then need to decide w...
I am 60 and my husband is only 50.  I receive my state pension here in the U.K also a local government pension.  We will shortly be moving to our cottage in France as Tony has just been made redundant after 27 years.  Reading this post, I will apply for a E121.  Does Tony then qualify because of my age? When and if he gets work, what happens then?  How soon before we come to France do I need to apply for the E121?  We are selling our home in the U.K at the moment so it may be a good few months before we are in the position to move over permanently. Many thanks Pat

Plastic E111

Ours also arrived today.  We filled in the forms last November and I'd forgotten all about it....until today
21. If the police had any suspicion that this guy was carrying explosives they had no choice but to shoot him in the head.  If he had been maimed i.e shot in the leg or arm, he could still have detonated any bomb he had on him, it would have only taken a split second.  We would then be on here saying ' Why didn't they shoot to kill'.
22. Latest news by Beeb is that University College Hospital has been cordoned off by police
23. We also send traveller's cheques (made payable to myself of course).  I sent them last Saturday and I have checked my Britline account tonight and they have already been credited, today...how's that for speed!  There is no cost for this service either. Pat
24. 'The forum speed should be improved now.' Mine is still as slow as usual on here (even with my new broadband connection)
