1. What really? With all those lovely Australian reds about.....mmmm Jacob's Creek [:)]
2. and Ray B and Lori. They could have their own section and swap pumpkin pie [+o(] recipes as well as great burger ones!
3. I read it twice to see if I could help with her other queries ! Has there been some editing going one?[8-)] Or do I just need to get my stronger lenses?[:-))] I just thought I'd clear that up about child benefit as I know of some one who 'forgot' to mention it to Newcastle and got into a spot of bother .
4. Okey dokey - BIG BIG APOLOGY            This might help you too  [:D] http://www.americansinfrance.net/
5. You cannot usually claim child benefit from the UK if you live in France.
6. Is it just me thinking this or do we have another Searcher or 5 ? The population of France seems to have shot up in the last few days. No gentle Egger style ' i'm moving to France and...'posts but straight in. I don't mind helping anybody if I can but I'm reserving judgement as to whether all these newbies are really genuine.[:)] Good questions though! No offence intended - just an observation.
7. We had a hussiers notice served on us last year, long story but we didn't owe the bloke a bean. The extra costs for this action that the so called aggrieved person wanted to pay amounted to less than €200;
8. So just what health cover have you had in the last 3 years? Did you not have  top up cover when you had your 2 year cover from Newcastle? What did you have when your E whatever ran out? Did no one contact you to ask you to start paying into the French health system ? whether you can get cheap healthcare rather depends on your income.   BTW respect for knowing about Sirius Black at your age !!!!
9. If you have agreed a time when they should have paid and they haven't, I would send them a copy of the invoice with a polite but firm letter asking for payment within the week and state that you will take legal action if they don't pay. Send it recorded delivery, wait for response and if they don't pay up, take it up with the hussiers. I don't know about interest for late payment, but that's academic anyway if they aren't going to pay. I would start the ball rolling to recover the actual money you are owed... you can always mention 'costs' in your letter.
10. Yes, Tia, his children would be entitled under French law and unfortunately there is not a thing you can do about it. I believe that the law is changing / has been changed so that the surviving spouse can remain in the property though I don't know if this is for life or if when the spouse decides to move house, the children can claim their share then. You could try putting the house in your name, but then if you died first it would create problems for your husband.
11. I can confirm that my sproglet started collége in September and has been 'taught' I am and I'm in the English lessons and I am learning more about English grammer as a consequence than I ever learnt at school in the UK!
12. The Debra I was after was the one into fishing (and shooting ?) had a lake for her avatar. I hope they do come back soon.
13. Tried to find Debra recently with no luck , so thought I'd try again with Alcazar  as I haven't seen him about much lately either?
14. Yes you are mad. We did the mad thing too, don't regret it but it depends what you want out of life, how materialistic you are etc etc. Unless you can work for yourself in a REALISTIC capacity or can juggle your finances to give you sufficient to exist rather than live on, your dream will sour quickly and that's not far on your kids who will adjust and make friends far quicker than you and then , whoosh, they are back in the UK. Failing to plan is planning to fail. It can be done.
15.
Yes, he said: If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt. I once shook hands with Pat Boone and my whole right side sobered up. There's a statue of Jimmy Stewart in the Hollywood Wax Museum, and the statue talks better than he does. You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.
I like Jimmy Stewart! It's a wonderful life is one of my favourite films .
16. I agree with you completely Cassis. Commonsense tells me there is no God but sometimes.... I think the 10 Commandments are a pretty good set of rules to live ones life by, but this constant bickering about whose God is the best is just ridiculous. Why can't they keep their God in their hearts and not their mouths?
17. But that's putting the blame on the UK society and I don't accept that . They attend the same schools in the UK as everyone else, if they don't make the most of the opportunities to learn at school then its a poor excuse to start wanting to blow some one up!  There are lots of kids who fall through the educational net and are unemployed.. IMHO these excuses play into the fanatics hands because they can blame 'us' rather than putting the blame where it really lies. There are less well off and poorer educated muslims in other countries that don't become radical.
18. I do think that there is a lot of 'hiding' behind Islam with the younger generation of Moslems at the moment. Most teenagers having a rebellion I would have thought, would turn their back on religion not embrace it even more than their parents do. IMHO it seems to me that some of the young moslem males go down this path not because they deeply love Islam but they dislike those outside their religion for whatever reason .  Fanatical Islam is a club that they can join and it seems to attract the disaffected nobodies and it is brainwashing. The mad mullahs are 'grooming' young men as John Reid said exactly the same way as paedophiles groom their victims. It also seems to me that there is a policy of appeasement in the UK, and the more Europe appeased Hitler the more he took until they realised he couldn't be appeased.... I think it is the same with Islam.
19. The UK governent could cut Family Allowance and give all kids a quality free lunch. At least the kids would be getting something positive from it and we all know that its those parents that spend their allowance on fags, booze and other rubbish that worry less about what their kids are eating.
20. I don't think it is just and equitable that the likes of Rooney and Owen get paid a small fortune for kicking a bag of leather around. But they do and it is in part paid for by the people who go and watch them every week and spend a sizeable chunk of their meagre disposible income to do so. They can command big money, such is life.
21. I can see what Kathie is saying. There are subjects that struggle to recruit teachers but on the whole there is no shortage of people willing to become teachers for the pay offered. It is retaining them that is the problem.[:D] If there was a desperate shortage, then I am sure the wages would be increased to attract more people.
22. The juice is practically a 'super food 'now , it allegedly slows down prostrate cancer and is good for thinning the blood if you have heart problems. Its very pricey to buy from health shops. I don't have any recipes though .
23. When I was at school there was one meal option, was take it or leave it. It was vile more often than not but was generally meat and two veg. But then they started this cafeteria system in responce to what kids and I suppose their parents wanted. Unfortunately this fast food muck that they eat at school is akin to the same fast food style muck they eat at home. I think any effort to improve school meals is great, but wasted unless many of the parents start buying and cooking better produce  at home. The excuse often thrown up is cost, but you can still eat healthy on a low budget.
24. If you have signed any document to say the house was finished to your satisfaction, eg when you paid the last installment,  the insurers will be very reluctant to pay out now.  By all means write and make a claim under the A D O but be prepared for a battle which may need legal assistance.
