  1. Deimos,   I'm not worried about charges on the U.S end of a phone transmission, they are free. However, I'm concerned about charges incurred on the French land line side. What do you normally pay when you call a local mobile? Also what do most local carriers charge for call forwarding? Call diverting as you called is normally a free service for U.S landlines, voip, and even some mobiles. So based on what you are telling me I will have to pay for 2 services: 1. a local phone call from my French land-line to a French mobile and 2. a cost for call diverting
  2. Deimos, Thank you for all your help. I plan on having broad band and it would be no problem to fullfil a one year contact. It doesn't matter if my phone is a voip or a landline. What does matter is that I have call forwarding either through a land-line or voip. As far as people in the U.S being charged for a call, that's not a problem. I was under the imperssion that most incoming local calls to a French mobile are no charge. Is this true? All I want is a voip or landline that will allow me to forward my local French number to my local Frech mobile. So what you are telling me is that I will be charged for incoming calls to the Frech mobile..... Is that true?
  3. Lori,   I agree with you about processed food tasting poorly. I  avoid processed food at all costs so that should be an easy transition for me.
  4.   Let me start by thanking everyone for taking the time to share their feedback. I’m glad I made it through the France forum initiation. For a second I thought I was rushing my college fraternity, I was convinced a “naked run” call was right around the corner. I can’t say I have ever heard about Sloggi underwear but visually judging the quality and integrity of the fabric those LADIES are wearing; I wouldn’t mind being that bicycle seat. In reference to Goobers Peanut Butter….it is the American Dream. I love it and Goobers loves me. I would be more than glad to bring a jar with me, however customs might have a problem with it. Given we are at an orange threat level that means Goobers Peanut butter is out of the question! I’m not stressing about adjusting to a French lifestyle I just don’t want to waste anytime looking for something I should have had the foresight to bring. I’m sure everyone understands.
  5. A French land line is what I need but here are the conditons: 1. free incoming  to the French fixed line (specificaly from the U.S) 2. free call forwarding ( I would like to forward a local fixed French number to a local French mobile carrier) This is what I'm trying to do:   1. Forward U.S mobile to French landline (which is free on the U.S side) 2. Forward Frech landline to the Frech mobile
  6. Here we go.........   that's fantastic! does it come in green?   The Quatro was an example, thank you very much. and that's the blade I currently use I just could not think of the name. I beleive it's called a Fusion.
  7. FRENCH MOBILE LANDLINE OR VOIPSERVICES! Since everyone is in such a helpful mood. I also need a solution to this issue. I might as well take advantage of this audience I seem to have captivated. How I’ve captivated this audience I have no idea.   I was wondering if someone may have some information on local mobile servies offered in France. All French  mobile/voip/landline websites are obviously in French so much has been "lost in translation." Here is what I'm trying to do: Forward a US number to a French Mobile or VOIP or LANDLINE So I need one of the following things: 1. Find a French Mobile carrier that accepts all incoming international calls for free, no matter where they are coming from. This would be the most ideal. or 2. A VOIP that offers free call forwarding and free incoming (international incoming).   or 3. A French Land Line that offers free incoming (international) and call forwarding to a French Mobile
  8. Perplexed............ Genuine about what? I'm confused..... Genuine about cell phone's, dry cleaning, breifs or boxers. Why in the name of Goodness would anyone take the time out of their day to make that up? I'm just looking for a some information on convenience items that might be a little difficult to find there. That's all folks! How this turned into some debate on how genuine I am, I have no idea. But lets say for a second that I'm not "genuine" What difference would it make if you said, " you know what Ace I have a hard time finding the Gillette Quatro series shavers and Snickers candy bars.   Now I'm so paranoid about how genuine" I may not be.   Subconsciously convincing myself that I’m not “genuine”   Conversation with self:     "Ace"….."Umm yes Ace; Are you genuine about shipping a one year’s supply of Quarto razors?”   "Ace,"  “I’m not so sure, how genuine should one be? "   "Ace.".. "yes Ace." "You should truly believe without wavering that you are genuinely and whole heartedly  genuine about you razors."   "Ace"…."yes, go-ahead Ace." "I’m not so sure I’m that genuine."   Hmmm....   Well then Ace; you are not genuine!

  11. Benjamin,   Been all over the world brother and  I really only have one worry. I am worried about wasting time looking for some bullshi* item when I should be concetrating on travel.   Here is the bottom line Benjamin......   You can't buy Jamon in the States. Don't even try buying premium vodka in Brazil Dont't even dream about finding DRY non roll on Deodorant in Amsterdamn and forget about public restrooms in London   Now the correct response should have been something along the lines of this.....   Uncle Benny says "Ace, I would consider bringing a GSM phone with you since the price of mobile phones are OUTRAGES in France." Also it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring some dry clean bags since dry cleaning in France is nearly 6X more than you would normaly expect." "I wouldn't want the ladies to see you in a wrinkled shirt, given how handsome you are you would want to make a good first impression.  Thirdly, you will find most electronics competitve in pricing but you will lose any saving in the exchange rate."   Ace's reply: "Thank you, Uncle Benny that was very helpful."
  12. Hello All,   Moving to Paris  for a year, a quick in and out. I was wondering if there is are any items that are a bit more difficult to find or too expensive that I should consider bring with me from the States.
