  1. Any trailer must have those triangles.
  2. I've used Holiday Autos;they've always beaten all other firms even ones claiming they're the cheapest.I've ended up with cars from all the major hirers from them including National,Europcar,Hertz etc..
  3. Sounds as tho' you will have to register it in England-after all you bought it there and have an English receipt, test and tax it there and then consider transferring it to France;where did the accident damage happen? If it was a French car, written off in the UK,then the French authorities and insurance companies should have been informed-maybe they were and this could cause problems when you re-import it to France.
  4. I'd recommend the use of "ARCTIC" cable for the lead.Don't know what it is called in France or even if they stock it there but it is heavier than standard extension leads but is very flexible and more suited to extremes of temperature-up or down.
  5. Talking short runways,is Vias ever going to get lengthened?-I've heard so many rumours!!
  6. I've used P&O for years(and Sealink and Stena and TT and Hovercraft) not because of the comfort or coffee but because I want to be able to turn up at the port  and go, hopefully ,on the next boat(the most I have ever been charged was £10 and it's usually nothing).I do not want to have to blast along the motorway at 130mph.(and you see plenty of them) to catch a ferry that only sails occasionally nor do I want to sit on the dockside watching boat after boat come and go.I will stay with any company that sails every hour/hour and half.I have used and don't like and cannot afford the tunnel but I have used Ryanair(to Montpellier)-no complaints-you get what you pay for!
  7. If you hand your property over to your kids you must go to a notaire who will do the paperwork, just as tho' you are selling the property(which effectively you are),he will want an official valuation of the property so he charges the correct fees and something that may get overlooked, your children must pay the bills(water, rates,EDF etc.) and have proof of this, otherwise the UK taxman will consider it all a fiddle.
  8. She may have a French insurance certificate but that is probably all she has.
  9. Not only how do they find the time? but the actual times of posting on some replies!!
  10. Do you mean cotton-flannelette not the smooth cotton??I've never seen bobbles on smooth cotton.
  11. I've claimed once and that was with Britannia rescue(as an extension to my travel insurance);it was me who was damaged not the car but with one phone call, they arranged collection and shipping, and,by the time I was shipped home, the car was on my driveway.
  12. Contact EDF anonymously!!
  13. The Saga policy extends your cover to the EU for a "trip"(unspecified length);that's all.
  14. It' got to be Picpoul de Pinet;if can find it other than in 34.
  15. Jc

    No going back

Obscured plates?;probably to to hide the fact that they were UK plates and thus driving uninsured.
  16. I have an English Virgin phone(roaming is included) and besides their PAYG options they offer a direct debit facility;they gave me £5 credit when I bought the phone and I still have most of it.
  17. Just returned from Italy;isn't the French system C*** compred with the Italian. The one in Italy accepts all types of vehicles and by putting the scanner at the beginning of the lane and the bar at the end,the vehicles go thro' at full speed.
  18. You're a technophobe??? after all that technospeak!!
  19. As you say, probably 3rd. party only, but he may have annual comprehensive(offered by Saga and a couple of other companies and they put some restrictions on-read the small print). There have been people in the past who say that their company offers 30 day cover and they could claim that they have only just entered France a couple of days earlier. The answer to that is Insurance companies are not stupid-"can we see your ticket stubs,c/card receipts etc.".
  20. One of the autoroute websites tells you all the cards they accept(some you won't have heard of) and it includes AMEX.
  21. We paid 5% on signing the compromis,90% on signing the completion and the final 5% when we got the keys after inspecting the property with the vendor and agent.
  22. It may be better for them to re-connect the phone before you make changes.
  23. I don't have trouble in France but when I come out of a ferryport or airport back in the UK I have to be very careful.
