    Puppy n poo

We have the same problem with our pointer (fortunately very short haired), non of the numerous labs we have had did this, come across some lovely smelly fox do do and she's in heaven.  Collar and towel on the line from yesterdays pongy walk - is it something to do with hunting instinct perhaps.  If I catch her she immediately stops but if she's disappeared around the corner it's disgusting!
  2. Had to grin to myself when M Sarkozy looked very awkward by almost over trying (not sure if there is such a word?) to do the right thing by allowing the Queen and Phillip to go first and they being the seasoned entertainers in protocol  insisting he take the lead.  Did Phillip whisper a silent 'cooooor/phwoooor' to himself when alighting his eyes on Carla - I thought she looked very chic and flatties were the right pick as she would have towered over the lot of them!  Apparantly he had asked to see the wine list before arriving in the UK - I thought he didn't drink, well, apart from his late/wobbly meeting with Putin.

    Season

Many thanks for your answers - will just wait and see if and when it happens, avoiding a dog sledge team!

    Season

I have always had labs (little girls) who have come into season roughtly 6 - 8 months old.  Our pointer is now 1yr 2mths and no sign at all - is this normal or should I take her for a little checking out?! Thanks.
  5. Have just cleared out the deep freeze and found 'buckets' of cepes and morilles.  Does anyone have a recipe for sauce forestiere as I thought this would be a good and tasty way of using some of them.  Thanks.
  6. How dreadfully sad and painful for the poor lady, may she be at peace now.
  7. My parents have arranged to donate their bodies to medical science and have all the paperwork and authorisation through Toulouse.  There was no mention of an upper age limit, this was 5 years ago, my father is now 80.  Can't remember the cost off hand but didn't strike me as very cheap, will try and find out.  Sorry, forgot to mention they were living in the UK during the years mentioned.
  8. Thanks, very good advice, do hope you are well on the road to recovery.
  9. Our chap is in 3eme and came home just before the holidays having had 'teachings' in the subject and clutching (well, not exactly!) a packet of condoms (practice?!)  and some relevant literature.  Obviously we (and his older brothers) had already broached the subject a good time ago but good to know they follow up at college.
  10. Please may J and I join the esteemed bunch?
  11. Same here Le_Jars, cast our votes and then had to sign a piece of paper with all the other names in the village neatly printed on in alphabetical order.
  12. Have recently bought one from Gamm Vert.
  13. I don't think your reaction is out of place whatsoever.  We have three boys, the oldest being 24 and youngest 15.  What a difference the access to internet has had in the years between them,  some aspects very good, others, as you say, very worrying and sad.  Well done for trying to broach the subject, try to  keep the lines of communication open, and yes, I agree, he's just being a normal (hormones raging!) curious teenager.
  14. Two of my 'larger' friends bought quite a few items from Blanche Porte and were very pleased with them - think it is mail order only but they are very efficient both with quick delivery and returns if necessary.
  15. Hi, sorry have only just noticed your post - don't know if this is any help but my vet is also the Blue Cross vet in our area (Carcassonne) and speaks a 'little' english.  Dr. Mondo - surgery is 173 av.F Roosevelt (road from big Leclerc across roundabout towards Carcassonne central). tel: 04 68 25 42 36.
  16. Used to make me smile when flying back from the Gulf when nearing Heathrow there would be a mad dash for the loos, both ladies and gents (wearing full arab dress) reappearing in ultra chic western dress, make up (ladies!!) immaculate and chaps with highly polished brogues. Sorry off topic. I lived in france for three years before making the trip back to blighty.  Think what struck me most was the constant noise - granted we do live in the country and I was visiting our boys in Richmond, London - but emergency services going all night, delivery lorries etc not to mention the density of normal everyday traffic. The other was the number of very upmarket cars being driven by 30 somethings, (ferrari, masseratti etc) (sp!)  parking up outside 'very' swish hotels and then ordering bottles of champagne willy nilly, where do they get the funds from!  Especially as we round here all drive goat mobiles or similar.  At times I imagine I resembled a beached fish but couldn't close my mouth!!!  Have only transited since but possibly going back this year (our 7th here) so will try not to stare too much!
  17. Certainly hope not!!.  Just looking at the pics and reading the article made my legs start to go very pins and needly - beginning of vertigo (and I'm sitting on a very comfy chair!!!).
  18. I think you are in the clear - mine on the route skirting Montauban arrived two days after I had speeeeeeeded (5 kms over).  Hope so and good luck.

    Yikes!

    Very, very scary!!!!!!!
  20. Hi, seems I didn't get any points!!  There was some talk a little while ago about a reciprocal agreement between european countries re points on licences but haven't heard anything for a time.
  21. Perhaps I'm being rather thick (?) but why would you have to change to a French licence.?  Both myself and the OH have received speeding tickets (him more than me!), we are both on UK licences, just paid up through the post and never heard anymore.
  22. Fortunately I've never been in this situation but as previous posters have said it would be a very good idea to put it all in writing with copies for yourself.  Perhaps if you don't feel strong enough to hand them over now keep a record/diary for yourself and maybe in the future the opportunity will arise.  All the very best of luck.
  23. Interested too as our son started at 9 in the local primaire and now in 3eme college, due to do the brevet this year.
  24. Early last year my mother needed something 'doing' with her eyes - not sure of the problem (apart from eyesight being very bad with or without glasses) but could find out.  She was referred from the doctor to the specialist opthalmologist at the local hospital and he said that here (France) they don't tend to practice laser treatment (as in UK)  as he considered it only a temporary solution and she was recommended a simple op.  Had both eyes done in a two month period (according to her completely painless) and can now see things she didn't know existed across the valley from their house.
