cous cous.

Semolina was in exactly the same sacks as, and right next to, the cous cous!

I might hydrate it and see if I can palm it off on the dogs .. I don't want to start making loads of sugary cakes and biscuits - I don't think I can find a use for it.

Thanks Clair  [:D]

I know you've said you don't want to make too many sugary snacks and things.  But, if you want to make shortbread, perhaps as presents to give at Christmas, semolina mixed with the flour produces a fantastic shortbread that is really crumbly and yum-yum.
Clair - your signature link ... who is that singing?  Lovely voice and very foxy!
Be carefull Newbiee, following that link has already cost me 10€ for the album I got from Itunes. I got a rocket for not knowing who Barbara was, but she is lovely. We listened to the album again this evening.

I think that it's a very cleaver trick of Clair's to get us to intergrate into the French way of life! We have got to be very carefull here or we may even be speaking French peut etra! Pas pour moi?

Foiled again!!! You've seen through my cunning plan!![:-))]

Newbiee, she is called Barbara.

Martha Wainwright has covered one of her songs, but the original is so much better...

"la madeleine de Proust"!  Don't set me off, Frenchie, or I will have a real madeleine moment and will take pages telling you all about semolina and tapioca and sago puddings right back to childhood days and, not only will you be bored stiff, you will wish you'd never brought about my madeleine moment![:D]
