Chris asked me to post a picture of his zip shelves - so here it is! (I hope - the forum is not Mac friendly!)

He says he fell hard but is coming back harder!

He'd like to hear from his "fellow woodies" - you can sms him (pm me for his number)

I also had feared the worts and am glad he is pulling himself back up, it can be a long way down sometimes in life.

His story in part, as well as that of my neice and nephew was responsible for me giving up alcohol 4 months ago so thats a positive to chalk up to him.

I also have to admit that I only wondered where Chris was a day or so ago? Those shelves look the business and it's good to know that he is on his way back!

Please wish him all the best from me and I look forward to seeing him back on here soon!

I have made a couple of blocks. Not the size of a full butchers block, but I have used beech. That, as far as I know is the traditional wood although rubber wood (that ain't a joke either) is being used and looks really nice.

One of the small blocks I made was for my 'local', The Bear of Rodborough just outside Stroud. I made it for them to cut the lemons and bits on for drinks, but after repeatidly telling them NOT to put it in the glass washer because it could not stand the boiling water and that was why it came apart 3 times I chucked it in their bin. That was the only 'failure' I had.
