1. you can do all that??? I think he just wanted to learn wood-turning tips off a pro :)
2.
Well, we will have to see what we can do??? But learning what ?
turning I guess!
3. JJ - Chris says thanks, and he'd love to spend a wee bit of time with you learning!
4. Chris was desperately trying to finish his kitchen before his Dad came over but it didn't quite happen! H's got the framework in, moved the water heater down to the cave, and got the sink in and working. The worktops are laminated oak with a border of wider oak, and look amazing!
5. Chris would like to thank everyone for their messages of support, he really appreciates it :)
6. so wood is better than plastic - but is end-grain oak going to cause any problems??? There are butchers blocks and butchers block worktops for sale on the internet in oak, but as far as I can tell they're not end-grain. What are the potential hazards of using it end-grain?
7. the butchers' block in question is for Chris' own kitchen he's making, so I don't suppose he'll be using a wire brush on it! Worth bearing in mind though. What he's done so far is amazing - and there's not a single nail or screw anywhere :)
8. I've passed on all your messages - much appreciated!
9. Chris asked me to post a picture of his zip shelves - so here it is! (I hope - the forum is not Mac friendly!) <a title="zip shelves" href="http://www.veytisou.com/images/zipshelves.jpg""> He says he fell hard but is coming back harder! He'd like to hear from his "fellow woodies" - you can sms him (pm me for his number)
10. Chris says Hi to all (he hasn't had a computer for a while now) He would like to know if there is any reason why he can't make a butchers' block out of end grain oak instead of the usual beech.
