  1. In the past I have been sent form 2042CK  by the centre for non- residents on which I declare gite income under 00. This is my second year of tax submissions as a resident, could I be right in assuming the CK form is replaced by the C form when you become resident. I cannot see reference to form CK anywhere on the usual websites
  2. Cheers to you all!! I am enjoying my favourite tipple- a  bottle of Fullers ESB(bottle conditioned), bought in Leclerc in St Jean D'Angely at the weekend. I've also got a bottle of Bombardier for tomorrow! Some Intermarche shops have a small range of British Beers including Newcastle Brown. There is an Irish shop in La Rochelle which has a reasonable range of English, Welsh and Scottish beers- may bottle conditioned.. Also In La Rochelle an Asian Minmarket sells Guiness export small bottles-stronger than those available in UK - served chilled  an excellent thirst quencher.
  3. My wife uses it also. To date we have been importing it, the unit cost is peanuts but the carriage, because of the weight is very expensive. At her last meeting with the doctor, he told her he had not heard of Aqueous cream but felt that LIPIKAR seemed to do the same job.
  4. Many thanks for your help SD. It was a relief to receive the letter from CPAM, but not knowing the system when you change over, the letter does not provide any guidance to the way forward.
  5. As an E106 expiree Jan 2008, I have submitted my application to join CMU de base. Today I have received a letter from CPAM to say that I have been affiliated from Jan 6th and it sets out my cotisations on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis.I assume I will shortly receive a bill from URSSAF. In the meantime does this letter mean I can use my Carte Vitales again or do I have to wait for a further attestation?
  6. There is a long reply to a letter in French News March  2008.Website address http://www.aphp.fr/site/actualitie/mag_donducorps.htm. The click on telecharger le brochure de l'AP/HP. From this site ou can choose a estblishment you wish to give your body to from a list of faculties of Medicine all over France who handle this service. You have to pay a contibution towards transport and cremation costs. In Toulouse for example the fee is €458.
  7. Many thanks for ther replies-I thought there might have been some kind of virus.
  8. For some bizarre reason I am unable to acess the Living France website, and thus get into the Forum. I ac but to do so I have to use the link from a reply in my email and then work back to the forum. The message I get is that Microsoft is unable to allow acess to the Living France website and then clicking on the OK box the computer promptly crashes!  any ideas?
  9. On Sunday we noticed several chains of caterpillars near our local pine forest. Each chain consisted of some 45 caterpillars nose to tail. Incredible sight. At first sight we thought they were small snakes. Had not seen this thread before and did not appreciate the danger.

    Taxation

I submitted my first tax return in May 2007.Because I previously submitted a micro bic return to Paris, my local tax office expalined thatI had to send my tax return to Paris, they would close my file, send my file to my local office and then I would get athe forms to pay my taxes. This has happened, I have paid the social part, and the remainder is due to paid in March. Meanwhile I have emailed the IK centre for non residents who tell me that they have not yet received form FD5 from the French tax office. Do they usually wait for the tax to be paid before sendinf off the FD5 or is this normally done when you enter the system?
  11. I have just caught part of an interview conducted by Peter Allan on Radio 5 with a conservative MP. The MP is to suggest to Parliament that the heating allowance should not be paid to expats who live permanently abroad. It should only be paid to those who spend the winter overseas. Peter Allan chaallenged him by saying that we had all contributed over the years by way pf taxation and NIC contributions and should be paid accordingly. The MP suggested that we had not contributed but per se and this was an allowance meant for those who could not afford to heat their houses. I can see both sides of the coin, butone flaw in the argument which neither mentioned is that is paid whether you are earning millions or nothing at all.
  12. Quite amazing. When I read the statement I thought I must have been dreaming about the sucess of the campaign. You would have thought the Government want want to start taking some credit, whereas they have only suceeded in adding to the confusion.
  13. My wife is a keen machine knitter. Because of the weight of wool on cones, postage is of course expensive from UK. Does anyone know of any suppliers/ shops in France?  many thanks.
  14. According to the  iinformation sheet  to the  application (downloaded from the FHI site very helfuly) it says you have to provide original or photocopy of the following if you are an EU citizen:   CarteVitale and accompanying attestaion/ Passport  If you have lived in France for more than 3months Something to cofirm you live in France-eg EDF bill.   Also the Avis d'imposition or declaration d'impots.   Payslips.   I would have thought the Avis d'Impot sur les revenus would have been of more use than just the Avis d'imposition?
  15. I have just read an article in French Property News which says that if you want to" make other external alterations such as repointing or rendering external walls you need to submit a declaration prealable". Having jsut finished one exterior wall, and about to start another, this seems to be taking things a bit far.. I would have thought repointing was  a repair job, not a change- unless of course you are changing from render or vice versa.
  16. I have just spoken to my Insurance Agent following my request to cancel cover from the 6th January. I wanted to know if it was possible to cancel my iinstruction and suspend cover until entry into CMU is confirmed. In all fairness the agent had contacted CPAM last week who felt the announcement was rather vague, but rang back to say there was a 99% certainty that we would be allowed into the system. Anyway the result was that on contacting my previous top up company, they were told that because I had cancelled, they would need to start a new policy and this would be a fair bit higher than my previous premium. even though last renewal was in December, which had in fact shown an increase over the previous year. The agent has in fact found another company for me at a lower premium. Something else for us to be aware of.
  17. Just want to add my thanks to the incredible amount of work put in by Debs and co. I know this has infringed on your own interests, hobbies and family lives. You should all be given the Legion d'honneur at the very least! or maybe the Croix de Guerre.   For all of us who have enlisted the support of MEP's MP's etc I think we should all send personal letters of thanks.
  18. Has anyone filling in one of the supplementary questions decided what to place in section 9-regarding education. It seems difficult to decide the equivalant of the O and A level. I assume CAP or BEP.
  19. Which also explains visits by English speaking people selling Watchtower!
  20. I too have received the same letter. Back in 2004 long before I decided to move here permanantly, although I owned a holiday home at the time they wrote to me,. I did in fact speak to them but on my move here for various reasons I did not proceed with them. They would not know my new address so I can only assume they may buy mailing lists from other companies ,of British people here to whom they target.
  21. I've just returend hometo find a  small section of wall at the entrance to my  orchard collapsed into the road, due to the heavy rainfall I suspect. Would anyone know if it is possible to claim on insurance for this or is  it considered an act of God?
  22. Yes of course, fine by me. It may just be possible to use them. Who knows.
  23. Slightly different tack to the above posts. I went to see my Doctor on Wednesday, my E106 having expired on the 5th. He asked for my card and I explained that owing to a new law I had to return my card, He had not heard about this change, and as I had the card in my possession he used it to identify me and said the card was still current. The same when I went to the Pharmacie. Again I explained the situation and although they too said it was current I paid cash and asked for the usual feuille de soins, in case there is a change of mind and we are allowed back in.
