  1. so why does freddies box say red when mine and gails say blue
  2. has anyone who is on the tempo system noticed that the web site says that we should be on a red day today, when we are actually on blue.
  3. we are on the tempo system, we have a meter in the hall that tells us what the next day will be, the red days in dept 85 (can't speak for others) start on the 1st of november, and finish on 31st march, in all you get 21 red, 43 white and the rest blue, our elec bill for last year was 300 euros thats for lights, oven, microwave, washing machine, kettle, hair-dryer, boiler, computer, tele and sometimes tumble dryer, so not too bad me thinks. no heating we have gas.The ONLY THING I dont use on a red day is the washing machine, forgot to mention we run the dishwasher everyday even on red
  4. we understood that you only need a licence to pull a trailer, if it was over 1500 kilos
  5. does anyone know how the tax fonc is calculated, we moved into our house sept 2006 the house had 5000sq mt, just before we bought the owners sold 2000 mt leaving us with 3000, however our bill for 2007 was 109euros more than the one for 2006, do you think we are still being billed for the 2000   hope all this makes sence.
  6. thanks for that cooperlola, hope we wont get fined, can't understand why if we get one why not the other
  7. last year we recieved two bills, one had on the top tax fonciere, and the other contribitions sociale,is this another name for tax habitation, because if not when do we get that one. both bills arrived in oct 2007  and were paid immediately.

  9. just as a footnote maud we have just come home from a party while we were there we heard that some people we know who live in a house almost identical to ours, had their house valued a week ago and was told by the agent that they would get 290,000 no trouble, so we wer'nt far out
  10. hello we live in the vendee, we bought our house in may 2006, moved in,in sept, we bought it for 260,000 euros, its a four bed detached on 3,000 sgms, if we put it on the market today, we would expect to get a minimum of 300,000 euros for it. If I can help furthur, please e-mail me
  11. I have just had my tenth french lesson, progress very slow, owng to the fact that I don't have any french friends to practise on, all our neighbours are at work all day, does anyone know of a group that gets together to talk and listen to french, I would rather listen to a french person speaking french, than an english person speaking french. My local areas are La roche sur yon, Aizeney, or anywhere thats within 30mins drive.
  12. hiya on the subject of opening an english account, you may want to get in touch with first direct, they have loads of customers here in france, so they may well let you open an account with them, give it a try nothing to lose. Fingers crossed for you.
  13. hiya we are also in the vendee, beulieu, actually, been here 19 months, still feel abit iffy.
  14. Sorry geordie, but why have you taken umbridge because scooby has said he/she doesn't want to live in france, it was a fair and honest oppinion of course there is good and bad everywhere, I have noticed aswell, that everyone that says "you must mix with the french" can all speak french, I love the french, but can't have any conversations with them, as I don't speak the language, I am learning, but by the time I am fluent the universal language will probably be english anyway. (just a joke)
  15. Just as a matter of interest, all of you that have said you love living in france, how many of you can speak french.
  16. Can anyone throw some light on this bit of info, we have been told that if say you own a piece of land and want to build, you can have a mortgage , pay nothing for two years, except 80 euro a month, to cover insurance, then at the end of this time, you sell your excisting house (sorry should have said you have to own a house, and live here) to pay back the mortgage with just 2 percent interest added on, can't believe this to be right, but our source was adamant this is so.
  17. Just to add to this 'can't drive on uk plates for long' an english lady in our village has lived here for eleven years and still drives with english plates, its her only car, so can anyone suggest how she has gotten away with it for so long. She is a bit hoity toity, so I may get a mind your own business if I asked her.
  18. hiya I'm certain your wife won't have any trouble finding customers, if you do a search for hairdressers, you will see how some of us are pretty desperate, if only you lived in the vendee, I'm gutted that you do'nt. good luck
  19. Don't want to put a spanner in the works, but after not having a period for five and a half years, hot flushes easing off, and the miseries not so bad either, I have had three little bleeds, had loads of tests, no problems whatsoever, have now been told by gyny consultant, that I am still not yet through the menopause, I asked now what? he shrugged and said Start counting again, I am 61 by the way. So hopefully, by the time I'm seventy, I can expect a "NORMAL" life.
  20.  HOW RUDE YOU ARE AUDIOP I WOULDN'T HELP YOU EVEN IF I COULD, SORT YOUR OWN PROBLEM OUT, WE DON'T SPEAK TO EACH-OTHER LIKE THAT ON THE FORUM.

    hairdresser

Don't know if this is the right place to post this, but does anyone know of a good english speaking hairdresser in the Vendee, I live near la roche sur yon, but will travel anywhere, my hairdresser cuts hair loverly, but not in the style that I want, I have taken pictures, drawn diagrams, and taken printed out words, all to no avail, to say I'm gettiing desperate, is an understatement. Thanks
