  3. thanks for your replys, do you know if that cost 800 -1000 Euros would be for each eye, sorry to be a pain
  4. I'm thinking about laser eye treatment, sick of my glasses and lenses, anyone know anything about this over here.I don't even know who to approach.
  5. I agree, stick with MT I also go to lessons, but am fnding that I am being taught too many in depth phrases, I just want  everyday talk, maybe you know what I mean, I am like you a complete begginner, but after 4 months in our class we are being taught how to take a broken clock into be repaired, thats never going to happen, whats the point of learning this, when I can't ask where stuff is in the supermarket
  6. we were told yesterday that the Taxe d' Habitation is means tested is this right
  7. John my heart goes out to you, I think I can understand part way how you must be feeling, we lost our daughter three years ago, and came to france to try somehow to come to terms with it, we are still trying, every day is still a struggle for us, that's why an already 'done' house was the best way to go, we have spent years in england doing houses up, so no more, we chose a nice location, with plenty of land, and can now live the dream. I hope you finish your house soon, albeit without your sue, or maybe not, i'm sure she is there with you, I hope you can get some comfort by looking around the house that you planned together. God broke your heart to prove he only takes the best.
  8. all this talk of 'I musn't live in a house like the uk' puzzles me, I wan't to know why ? we have all lived in uk house's and been none the worst for it, did you all come to france to get out of uk 'houses' we came because we wanted a thug free life, we found that, plus along the way, we found the loverly french people, traffic free roads, helpful neighbours, and an altogether nicer life, amongst all this we found our house, its a two storey and 8 years old, with 3000 sgm of land. Like us I'm sure most of you have come to france to retire, so as in my first question, why the need to have derelict, dusty, draughty houses, and to spend your retirement going backwards and forwards to the brico depots, we spent about 6 months putting our own stamp on this place, and can now sit back and enjoy it all, no stress,no hassle, no bricos, just happiness in our loverly france
  9. I have finally sussed out how to use a rounabout over here, all you do is stay as far over to the right as possible, it doesn't matter what exit you are taking, that way when the french see you over on the right, the majority of them don't pull out in front of you.I have been practising this method for 18 months, it works everytime, never fails.
  10. thank you clair I was having a blond moment, glad you are around, actually, you have answered a few of my questions laterly, thank you again
  11. I know this is not the place to post this question, but as you are all talking about fabric conditioner SHEETS,apart from getting rid of mice, what are they supposed to be used for and where do they go.
  12. sorry RH did I miss understand something about gardians post, you said he had good reason, and that we all make mistakes, was the mistake from me, if it was I appologise to guardian.
  13. we had a fitted carpet in the bedrooms upstairs, totally unlike the uk, no underlay, they glue it down, and do like to fit it going up the wall, the shop looked at us with a frown when we asked for a fitter to come and measure, so hubby did it himself, then the shop worked it out.
  14. gardian what a rotten thing to say to somebody, isn't asking questions what these forums are all about, if you can't reply in a civilised way, then don't.
  15. so did we, it was ready for us to sign on the same day as the house sale, we arrived about 30mins before our sellers, it cost 400 euros

  22. actually I'm getting a bit worried now, if our meter isn't picking up signals, I wonder if it hasn't picked up red before, and we are merrily using the leccy because our little box is showing another colour.
  23. yes still saying blue, can you tell me what meter I have to look on, is it the one that edf come and read.
  24. can other tempo users please come on and say what colour day you are on, as I understood it to be that we all go on the same colour, if this is wrong, then I will stop looking at the edf website, I will wail until the evening to check the next day colour. Thanks all
