  1. No late night parties in the village square with 500 others for a while.by the look of it.
  2. Much saddened by this news. I wondered why we hadnt heard from him for a while. He always seemed a straight arrow with a fund of knowledge re cars and other things. RIP Sunday Driver and my commiserations to Caroline. You will be missed.
  3. Norman, I wonder if the powers that be will take the opportunity to clear out some of the illegals who dont qualify for a CDS. I have heard that some applicants for the original card who were turned down were told to leave France forthwith. Which begs another question: if the UK issued a CDS or a simple identity card, how many would be declared illegal and told told to leave?
  4. What about rentable, short term, office space providing facilities and an address for small companies who only need it for short periods or part time and who cant afford full time premises?
  5. Highly likely, Norman. Just wait until the students return home for their Xmas vac, it will go through the roof in all sorts of places where it is minimal now.
  6. The thought of you turning up to a drive on your scooter in full hazmat suit did cause a titter, Norman.
  7. That, my dear BiB is how Britain ruled the world!?
  8. Better no septic tank at this point. It means you can start fresh, clean and up to date, rather than maybe cobbling something onto the old system.
  9. Not at all, just speculating as to why they might have acted as they did.
  10. I suspect that the card which is not Visa is actually a cash card and not a credit card which is why it is being cancelled.
  11. Thanks Kong, much appreciated. Have to pay it separately but found the bit about paying it automatically so dont have to worry about it.
  12. Just got notification from the tax office that the taxe d’hab. is now zero which leaves the TV licence to pay. But their mail does not make it quite clear whether it will be deducted automatically from my bank account as are other taxes or whether it has to be paid separately. Any thoughts/guidance anyone, please?
  13. Come on Idun, get back on here, you know you want to!?
  14. Maybe live somewhere where the Loire turns south (check the map, you will see what I mean). This will enable you to explore the loveliest parts of France in and off the river valley with minimum effort from the west coast to St.Etienne.
  15. Finally got my refund after a couple of discreet reminders to the tax office; we mutually put their slowness and losing the dossier down to covid which saved face. It will eventually go towards some other tax bill, doubtless.
  16. Pharmacy usually does mine, takes a few seconds.
  17. Thank ypu, cajal, most interesting, backs up my thoughts too.
  18. Well, I have yet to be convinced that they can operate efficiently below, say, -5 degrees though some say -15. Whatever, the colder it is the less efficient they are and the more electricity they use to compensate. Perhaps they might be OK for hot water only but not for heating. IMNVHO, of course. So round here, not a lot of use. One does see a few system installed but often, I suspect supplemented by either a wood or wood chip fire
  19. Watch, dont listen! Seems funny this year with no sound. Find it difficult to take it seriously.
  20. Pity you bpught one Lori when the solution was to hand; just send your husband to bed a little before you and get him to start on your side for 15 minutes!
  21. In the case of my three homes in France over the years rubbish has always been collected from the front of the house but not, glass in two out of three.
  22. Yep,G, simples, always was. Now, what about UK number plates?
  23. ... are not, in the Pantheon. Should they be? One for Norman, maybe? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-54293974
