1.
Maybe one should put 0% in line 204, if the dividends are less than £5000; that might be fair.
This logic would only be applicable to dividends received on or after 6th April 2016. Any dividend income received between Jan 1st 2016 and 5th April 2016 is subject to the previous tax rates. Also, if the income received post April 5th is >£5000, it then becomes liable for UK tax requiring a UK reclaim. The way I see it is the same as Buzby, in so much that if the tax declaration software writers chose to default UK dividened income to 17.7% (this figure can be overridden to zero manually but I don't perceive that as being my responsibility). It then must follow that the pre-calculated Résultat can legitimately be entered into form 2042, section 8 in line 8VL. So, yes, go for it. What is the worst that can happen? Not allowed....due to misunderstanding? If you decide to contine and declare in 8VL, and someone tugs you about it, tell them I told you it would be ok to do so.
 2. Well here we are again approaching another major and formidable election requiring, where possible, your vote and what do France do?  Their entrant for Saturday's eurovision extravaganza will, again, not be performing her rendition in the English language. Tsk! From this preview she certainly looks the business but I don't think that will be sufficient to cut it with the voters.
 3. We have used the on-line tax declaration for what seems eons. When we were completing a paper declaration our impot office told us not to bother including a 3916 declaration and that we should file it at home and should they require it they would contact us. With this in mind we created an accounts document on our computer which we update during January and now include a note with the online declaration stating the account information is up to date and available should they require it. It has yet to be requested.
 4. To get around the Royaume-Uni tax anomaly in line 204, on form 2047, I calculated what the net value of our divi income would have been before the 17.7% was added and entered that figure in line 203. This resulted in our actual divi income appearing in line 209 to be entered in line 2DC form 2042
 5.
And as we prepare to say au revoir to the current encumbant ......
If that's what you wanted to do you should have posted your intentions last week and I could have invited you down to our place and you might have been able to do it personally. Our next door but one neighbour is a retired senator and earlier this week Le Flan himself turned up for lunch at his spread along with 40 other guests, 25+ motorcycle gendarmes, half a dozen armoured saloons, an ambulance (discreetly parked) and numerous thug looking heavies. Chaos all day trying to manoeuvre around the jamboree. So now you know how your tax €'s are spent.
 6. Total 'car-crash' material: Here A masterclass in ineptitude. Labour is being led by their D team, and it shows at almost every turn. The Tories do appear to have worked out  that their optimum strategy is to say absolutely nothing, and just allow Corbyn's Labour to destroy itself. Apparently Conservative central office have complained to TV companies about the amount of air time Corbyn is receiving... they don't think it's enough...!  Abbott will just dismiss critics of her performance as racist, her standard fall-back position.
 7. Save anything important to 3rd party media (cloud, memory key, computer etc.) and  carry out a factory re-set. The procedure for this is here
 8.
"See Garden Girl's link, they are one and the same.."
A caravan it ain't. I think you will find This is a static restaurant, all be it in a basement,  ChezGil @ 32 Route Minervoise, 11000 Carcassonne, France. From TripAdvisor: 'An intimate fish and seafood restaurant tucked away in the basement close to the railway station but off the beaten track. The most delightful fresh fish and seafood cooked by the chef within view of the restaurant. Reasonable prices an absolute delight'
 9.
There is a very popular F&C van just south of us and a large part of the customers seem to be French. It's been going for several years now, but I can't find it and wonder if they are atill there?
This would appear to be in your 'neck' of the woods.

 11. When we bought our first French residence in 1989 we couldn't be a.rsed schleping all the way to Chamonix for the day to sign the 'acte' so we did it at the French Embassy in Knightsbridge.
 12.
x2 It's just a slice off your bandwidth which is made available and it's completely secure, or as secure as any WiFi ever is shared or otherwise,
Yeah, right........Each to their own.
 13.
. If you have Orange elsewhere though then if you activate 'accès aux hotspots wifi d'Orange' and 'hotspot wifi d'Orange de la Livebox' then anywhere you find a WiFi signal called 'Orange' you will be able to log onto it and use it with your Orange credentials. To turn those on go into the Livebox and in My WiFi/Orange WiFi click 'Configure Orange WiFi then log into your Espace client when prompted.
All very well........but if YOU are an Orange client with a LiveBox You have now become one of the 7million Orange wifi hotspots in France métropole, à La Réunion, Antilles françaises and Guyane by virtue of being in possesion of your Livebox. Your location will be available for connection, via your Livebox, to any Joe/Josephine who chooses to log into Orange outside your home. "Le réseau Wifi d'Orange s'enrichit progressivement des Livebox de nos clients.Votre Livebox basculera automatiquement en mode Wifi partagé dans un mois pour devenir un nouveau hotspot". However, fortunately, "Vous aurez la possibilité de désactiver le mode Wifi partagé de votre Livebox à tout moment dans votre espace client: accueil espace client > mon compte internet"
 14.
They used to have a graph where you could use a pointer to get the rate, but this seems to have changed. I would be grateful if anybody could point me to a site where I can access the official exchange rate for any particular day in 2016.
This should fulfill what you need. ECB £/€ exchange rate in interrogatable graph form.
 15.
I am buying a new car in the next couple of days (250 euros off if I make up my mind quickly!) and I shall explain what I need to know.
Spend in haste. Repent at leisure.
 16.
Yes, ebn, I have reported you, either once or twice, can't remember, though am not sure if posts were pulled as a result.
Ugh, how creepy is that. Still I suppose that's what milk monitors do.
 17. I have never experienced your situation but if I were to I would be more inclined to approach: The Embassy of France 58 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7JT Tel: 020 7073 1000 As you intend to take pet livestock into France, I suspect, there will be more hoops to jump through than taking pet livestock out of the UK. Good luck
 18. How does this anomaly work? I haven't noticed any petitions or 'huu haa' in the press. Am I missing something here? Do people actually hold selective views and opinions?
 19.
This has opened a can of worms.. http://www.lemonde.fr/les-decodeurs/article/2017/01/27/francois-fillon-un-depute-pas-tres-assidu_5070001_4355770.html
Just another politician who 'extracts the urine.'
 20. 27/01/2017  Languedoc weather: Rain Wind (speed)....45kph Wind (gusts).....80kph Annually: Le Vent Tramontane Le Vent Cers. Le Vent Scirocco. Le Vent Autan. Le Vent Marin. The Languedoc is known as " le pays du vent". It must be an absolute nightmare living in this region, 2nd only to Provence and NE Languedoc with its' Mistral. To be a resident in these regions must add a whole new dimension to the expression to be 'blown away' by something. I wonder how much these polling organisations trouser to generate these results?
 21.
It is legal to emploi his wife: the problem is that she is alleged to have done no work. This constitutes an emploi fictif punishable by prison
I doubt anyone will question the legality of this arrangement. However, a remark his wife made during the primaries that "I do not get involved in my husbands political affairs" could certainly  have a ring of truth about it. Anway, I await the outcome of the state prosecutors investigation. €500,000 for coasting......nice work if you can get it.
 22.
What does that mean exactly ? Unexpected shopping???
Impulse buying.
 23. What are his chances of being able to duck this issue?  (Fr) (En)
 24. Amazingly, over the years, I've sampled the hospitality of most of these establishments.
