1. make sure your cable is plugged into the red port, not yellow one, in the first instance.
2. Having just put some down in a really awkward shaped room for a customer, I can tell you that it is a complete pig to get a good join, and you will need tin snips and a sense of humour to lay it at all.
3. As you are already renting the Sagem 800, why don't you just go back and exchange it for a livebox? It is possible the original one you had, just didn't work. It also could have been that the internet connection was disabled by default, and needed to be enabled. Of course you can always purchase a different router, some have already been mentioned, but be aware, if it gets fried by an electrical storm, the onus and expense is on you to replace. There are a lot of people here and on other fora with a wealth of knowledge, who can aid you if you run into dificulties, if you also say where you are, there may be someone close at hand, who can pop round and sort it out for you. I have had a Sagem livebox for just over 5 years now, the same box, it does exactly what it supposed to, offers ethernet and wi-fi connections to various pcs/laptops/netbooks with various operating systems (though I will admit I do not use Orange's software), it is never unplugged from the mains or telephone network, and have only ever had to reset it a couple of times in that 5 yrs. Good luck
4. Placo comes in various sizes, the standard 8' x 4' is 2.50m x 1.2m

6. sorry, chevron is a size of wood, used in roof construction. I actually meant to type demi-cheron, which as the name implies is half the size.: http://www.bricodepot.fr/metz/node/114 Fix the demi-chevron to the cheeks, where you will have a join, then you can screw the chevroned ends of the plasterboard to make a solid joint, before filling/sandind/filling/sanding etc.
7. Am I right in thinking you have used "cheeks" on the side of the original beams? If so I would use plasterboard, and as thick a rockwool as you can, keeps heat in and cuts down on noise. If you use the width of the plasterboard, you will end up with 1.2m x 60cms (ish) pieces of board which aren't to heavy to lift, or too unwieldy to manoeuver. Fix chevron, wherever there is a join, so you can screw the 2 edges to gether. If your beams are curved, mark them every 10cms, and measure the distance of the marks from a straight line, and transpose those measurements to the board, prior to cutting, this will give a fairly good fit, without too much filling afterwards. When finished, use selfadhesive scrim to cover the joints and the edges, then use a filler to fill the gaps/joints, sand back, then re-fill a second time, then sand again. We have used many different makes of filling compound, from self mix, to ready mix, the best I have found so far is PR4 available at Pascoes, while this is more expensive (€30/25Kg) than fillers you may find in the Brico sheds, its is much easier to sand, pure white, and easier to leave a fine unnoticeable finish. It takes a while to complete, but is worth doing well. Then use either a sous-couche or cheapy Brico Depot emulsion at €5.50 for 10ltrs. 3 coats gives a great finish.
8. Why don't you ask Dell for confirmation that they can't fix it? Then as your contract is with PC World (?) as long as the problems manifested themselves within the first 6 months, they (the problems) are deemed to have existed since day 1, and the laptop is not fit for purpose and you are entitled to a new item or your money back. 9. trade her in for one that can do the job? [Www][;-)]
10. It is a long-standing problem. The short version is, that the majority of spam produced in Europe, originates from a samll number of users with Orange as there ISP in France. Yahoo generally (unless specifically allowed as a trustworthy source by your contactor) blocks all [email protected] originated emails. Orange say they are doing all they can to combat the problem, then decide on occasions to block emails to their customers originating from [email protected]/com. And so the problem continues. I had been tearing my hair out with the futility of it all, then decided to sign up for a [email protected] email account to contact all yahoo and hotmail addresses. Problem (for me) solved.
11. "Could it have been because it's a UK market Vauxhall and not an Opel" Not at all, they require the 17 digit European identifier (on my Vectra its on the drivers door pillar) which iirc is available for all European vehicles from 1997. Before this date, some do have it (my vectra included), some don't have it.
12. Firstly, what type of pipes? If copper they need to be shielded from the concrete. 3m x 3m x 0.07m = 0.63m3 of concrete This equates to 200Kg Cement = €40 400 Kg Sand = €20 750Kg Gravel = €40 + day labour about €200 so €300 in total for the concreting + cost of delivery/collection + membrane Insulating walls with metal rail 48mm and insulation = €55/m2 so if walls 2.5m high = 3x2.5x55=€412.5/ wall so 2 walls €825. + cost of delivery/collection. Just using polystyrene backed plasteboard = €32.5/m2 so: 3x2.5x32.5=€243.75 so 2 walls €487.50 + cost of delivery/collection Would be interesting to see what you have been quoted.
13. Try coca cola, pour in a can and leave overnight
14. You must be super human. 5m x 5m x 0.35m is 8.75m3 of concrete, or to put another way, a fraction over a full lorry load of RMC. I can almost certainly predict, that by the time you have bought the aggregates to mix yourself, and paid for delivery, it will cost almost exactly the same as having RMC delivered. If you buy RMC you may be able to make use of the lorry with a tapis (conveyor belt to shift the concrete over a distance), it will be easier to lay in a day, and have fibres put in it to stop the concrete cracking. 8.75m3 of concrete will need: 2800Kgs of Cement 5500 Kgs of sand 10250 Kgs of gravel 2625 litres of water That is nearly 23 tonnes of materials. If you are going to mix and lay yourself, firstly get some help in. Secondly, split your slab into 5 strips a metre wide, high to low not across the slope. Do the outside strips, then the middle strip, then the other two strips last. As has already been pointed out, compacted hardcore is vital, but even this will not stop the slabs moving at slightly different rates. Hope its useful info.

18.
I have tried to download that software you recommended but a message came up 'woobrowser.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'  I have been getting this message a lot recently and it always closes me down.  Is nothing ever simple! [8-)]
Woobrowser.exe is the background software that runs the orange connection software. It has its own altered Internet Explorer browser, and sometimes conflicts with the original browser installed on some machines. You can try to re-install Internet Explorer, or I used SeaMonkey to browse instead, there are others such as Opera, Mozilla, Firefox to name a few. Good luck with your adventures into burning CDs, it does get simpler with time, and experience.
19. Our experience may help Jonesy. We have a Grey import Mazda Eunos (MX5) for 3 years we took the thing back and forward to the UK, because we couldn't find a way of registering it here in France. We tried to get a CofC but obviously (now we realise why) it didn't exist, so just seemed to come up against a brick wall. We then heard in a conversation about someone elses experience, about a certificate of non-conformity, again we tried Mazda France but this was not forthcoming either, (again we now realise why). By now we had pretty much had enough of this mess, so in a last resort, posted on another forum about the hassles, and had a wonderful reply from Sunday Driver which gave us more hope. Apparently we had been asking for the wrong certificate, we neaded a certificate of partial conformity, we asked for, and received this from Mazda France, and suddenly everything fell into place. We went to the DRIRE office with the CdCP and they booked the car in for a single vehicle test, this was duely taken, and a couple of issues were noted. We had already changed the headlights, but a "plaque de constructeur" as Jonesy described, was missing, apparently most key cutters are au fait with making and providing these, but in plastic. I didn't want plastic in the engine bay, so searched for an aluminium one. This is what we came up with: http://plaqueconstructeur.free.fr/ cost €30 and was returned within 5 days. We had to move the single rear fog light to the left hand side of the car, and have a noise test carried out.The testing station gave us contact details for the relevant police body that carry out noise testing. This noise test was arranged for a couple of months later at a town about 30mins from us. We met the officers from the Police National at a gendarmerie, who then took us to a quiet trading estate where they could carry out the test. They asked us to drive up and down the road, at a certain speed, so thay could use their noise meter, when we offered them the drive, it was a fight to see which one could get in the car first. Any way the test was completed, and a certificate "Controles des Niveaux Sonores" was issued (no cost). A copy of this was sent to the Vehicle testing station, along with a copy of the receipt of the Plaque, and we waited for the "Proces-Verbal de Reception a Titre Isole" to be returned. We waited and waited and waited, four moths passed and so we rang them to see what was going on, only to be told, that the officer had the details on his desk that day (quelle surprise) to complete. About a week later the certificate arrived, so in the next week or two, will go to the Prefecture with all the docs and get the new immatriculation. So: if you ask for, and get the correct paperwork, it is actually quite simple and in our case quite cheap (€90 for headlights and €30 for the plaque) to get all the paperwork together, I guess I will find out how much the registration will cost soon, it is a 10CV car, but over 10 yrs old now, so I am guessing about €200 for the certificate d'immatriculation. Good luck.
20. I'm no expert, but is that English "twin & earth"? if so the whole house will need re-wiring; to bring it up to current regs.
21. While cats eyes do not seem to be in evidence here, the new type of reflective lane markers do exist to some extent. Every juction on a dual carriageway or autoroute (in Brittany at least) has these markers to show the junction. I can only assume the cost of retro fitting to all the lane markers and edge markers on just the major roads in France would be truely prohibitive.
22. We have found that if we take a 50cm log and split it in half lengthways, then cut those 2 pieces in half widthways (so you are left with 4 pieces) we get greater heat from those 4 bits than 1 big bit, which means we use less wood a day to heat the house.
23. Nectarine, the sat dish cable plugs into the back of your sat box, then connect the sat box to the dvd recorder with a scart cable, it will show up as av1 or 2 or poss 3, then will not need to be retuned every time, then connect the dvd recorder to the tv with a scart cable, again it will sow up as av1 or 2 or poss 3. If your sat box has a double tuner you will need to connect the second scart from the sat box direct to the tele, it will show up as either av1 or 2. The following diagram should help:
