1.

Doesn't sound too bad.  Will wait till Monday to see what to do about it.
Your GP should be sent a copy of the report and suggested future action written by the Doctor who did the echograph - or rather this is what happened 2 weeks ago when my OH had an echograph on 26th December or what would have been Boxing Day  if we had still been in the UK. Our GP rang us and asked us to call in to the surgery to discuss the report. Sue
Every time I've had a scan or blood test or consultant appt ( and I've had quite a few over the last 5+ years) I've been given a second copy to pass on to my GP ie: it's not sent directly to them but left to me to pass on.
2. What on Earth happened there?!!  Can someone please delete those extra ones that appeared from nowhere.
3.
Why do I always feel when I see how many people are looking in that there are people all over france on thier floors wetting them selves ? !![:$][8-)][:$]
Don't be silly!!  They haven't replied because they probably don't know the answer!!  I am very impressed by your efforts to learn the language Pads - how many of the people who have read the post have worked as hard I wonder? I don't know for definite but I would say jamais dit jamais.  Probably grammatically wrong [:$]
4. Could that possibly be Gustave's tower?
5. No you can't get antibiotics over the counter. Take paracetamol every four hours or if really bad alternate with ibuprofen every two hours.  Take plently of liquids and rest. See a doctor if your chest becomes worse.  If you are not registered with a doctor you can see any one but you will not get a full refund.  If you get really bad during the night dial 15 for the SAMU and they will put you through to your nearest on-call doctor who will come out to you if necessary. Take care and get well soon.
6. Made my eyes water.  I bet it hurt.
7.
We used to have a tropical fish shop in west sussex and Phil Collins used to come in for fish etc, very nice guy. Julie Walters came in once too. They lived in the next village to us.
That reminded me: when I worked in a well known electrical retailer in Camberley Rick Wakeman was one of my regular customers. I also knocked on the door of Gary Numan with a friend who had already been to his house but he was out (GN lived on Wentworth at Virginia Water along with many other celebs).  Come to thing of it, my dad installed a pumping station at Elton John's house there too. I may think of more when my memory gets going again...
8. My childhood neighbour's friend was Ian Lavender (Pike - Dad's Army) whom I danced with at a party. I had my five minutes of fame last summer when I was interviewed on France Blue Radio - it came over very well when it was broadcast.
9. Fab photos.  I particularly like the second two. (they are a bit big for the page though [;-)])
10.
When the man came around for the annual maintenance, everything was ok, however he said we are putting in to much salt and that we needed to clear the base as it had hardened. i cleared it out and since then it is not working properly.
The salt container should be fairly full.  When mine gets half way down then I emptry another sack in. When you say it's not working properly do you mean that you can notice that the water is  not soft, for example when you taker a shower? I certainly notice the difference if for some reason it's not recycled or is empty of salt.
11.
keeps filling up with water and requires getting rid of 10+ litres per day. Anyone got any experience of such devices. Called the local company, but the agent for this area will not be back for another 9 days.   ams
Are you sure it's plumbed in correctly?  I don't quite understand your 'getting rid of' bit.  I've had water softeners for donkeys years and it's all automatic and re-cycles in the night on it's preset programme.  There's supposed to be water in the salt holding bit  Are you manually emptying it?
12.
Misconception, salt water pools still produce chlorine, otherwise the pool would not be sanitised.
Re-read my post:
....The chorine that is produced from the salt if far less aggressive on the eyes and skin that chorine tablets/galets and there is very little odour.
13.
I am surprised there have not been replies from salt water pool owners defending them?
When we replaced our ancient pool three years ago we changed to a salt water pool. I have had no problems with it and have been very happy with it's operation.  I have not had to 'lug around' any sacks of salt yet as the salt level has not changed.  Even when I do need to it will only be one or two sacks per year. The reglation of the chlorinator only needs adjusting as the temperature of the water has risen or fallen.  We initially had problems with the cell furring up with limescale after filling the pool for the first time but that sorted itself out within a few months.  Having had both a traditional chlorine pool previously and now a salt pool, I can say that I much prefer swimming in a salt pool.  The chorine that is produced from the salt if far less aggressive on the eyes and skin that chorine tablets/galets and there is very little odour. Long term the cell will need replacing and that is rather expensive, but then I haven't been having to buy tubs of galets which are also fairly expensve - I don't know what the like-for-like comparison would be between the life of a cell vs the cost of the galets. I'm pro salt pools and would install one again.
14. I weighed myself and took all my measurements this morning.  I dug out my old diary from 2006 where I'd noted my diet achievements and found than two years to the day later I am over a kilo lighter but all my measurements are bigger - the worst being my waist at over 5cm larger.  How's that then?  Same scales, same tape measure. The approach of the menopause I suspect. Have started the new regime with a two hour dog walk this morning.  Yesterday was my birthday so we had a blow out 9 course resto lunch with champagne and wine, from today it's alcohol free...
15.

The photo of the "LOST TOWN" posted by Powerdesal and the photo posted by Brianagain are identical  but taken at a slighty different angle.  Max
Max you are wrong. I was most definitely staying in Normandy when I took the photo on a drive around the area. As I was staying in Villedieu Les Poeles it would have been a serious epic drive to get to Alsace and back during a normal day. Possibly Brianagain is mistaken but.....I imagine he knows where he was when he took his photo. ergo....You are wrong.
Max, you are not wrong IMO. If you open the thread in two seperate windows and have them side by side on your screen, as I have done, then there is absolutely no doubt what-so-ever that these two photos are the same place.  Right down to cabling between buildings, TV aerials, shop signs, window bars etc. Try it,  it is 100% definitely the same place.
16. So basically, you would like to meet some new friends in the area with similar interests to yours....in not so many words. Anyone out there?  Sorry a bit too far for me.
17. There is a large one at Paussac St Vivien in the NW Dordogne set in amongst some intersting countryside with remains of some sort of building, and one at nearby Brantome on the way out heading towards Thiviers which seems to be in someone's front garden. There are quite a few in this region http://dolmen3.free.fr/lot/Dordogne_megal.html
18. That's what we thought at the time but she really didn't appreciate us laughing at her 'cuteness' [:(]
19. We were having some sliced chorizo with our Raclette dinner and our then 5 year old daughter said that it was too spicy.  I said that it was "Chorizo fort" and she asked if "chorizo five" was available [blink]
20. Poor you Val, Get well soon, I hope your sides don't ache too much from coughing.
21. Yesterday was a glorious day.  In the shade it was 14 degrees in the afternoon with not a breath of wind.  Out of interest I put a thermometre in the sun but not directly touching anything that would conduct heat and it got up to 30 degrees [:-))] [:D]  Got to get through january and february yet though with the possibilty of snow and lots of wet weather - the river here always breaks its banks in february despite being very low just now.
22. I thought it was today too.  I checked on a website some weeks ago and noted it on the calender (like some of the other posters I also anticipate this day).  Some years it is the 21st but this year it is definitley the 22nd. http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/astronomy/WinterSolstice.html
23. In Périgueux there is the bar/resto Bartola who have salsa/cuban danse lessons. It's near the cathedral on the main road through. 24 Dordogne Cours de Salsa, Cubaine et Portoricaine au BARTOLA! à Perigueux, Tous les Soirs - des cours de Danse latines - BARTOLA, 17 cours Fenelon 24000 Perigueux Tous les Lundis - Salsa Cubaine avec Noel (Sangre Cubaine)
24. I think it means that "I defend France"/ "I will fight for France". If you look here it's one of those words with lots of different compound forms with differing meanings.
25. Frenchie - do you mean the Deputy Headmistress or the Headmistress of Vice?  [;-)]
