1.
...Some people, not me, but other people, would say that the evidence for the existence of God is all around us, not least in the existence of “holy” books that are supposedly divinely inspired. Pretty shaky in my view, but then so is casting out the possibility of the existence of the supernatural when the hypothesis cannot be disproved.
It's very easy to cast out the possibility of the existence of the supernatural, especially when there is no testable evidence to support such a notion. The onus of proof is on those who assert that the supernatural exists. Following your argument, should we accept the possibility of mermaids and unicorns, and teach similar idiotic ideas in schools, seeing as how the hypothesis cannot be disproved?
 2. Evolution seems to have taken a distinctly funny turn. LOL.
 3. Hi, peeps, I seem to be getting conflicting advice on fitting WC evacuation piping... 1. Is a 7m (100mm) internal pipe run (before dropping down the wall outside) too long? 2. If not too long, is a fall of 20mm per metre an adequate angle to avoid blockage? (i.e. 140mm) 3. Should inspection/rodding access be provided on a 7m run? 4. Any reason why bath drains can't be at the highest point of the run i.e. before the WCs? I've already Googled all this as well, but am no further forward. Cheers. [B]
 4. Do you have a local wood yard that may offer a far better deal (and more choice), especially if you collect? If you particularly want grooves, do you know anyone with wood-machining equipment who can run the boards through? Bound to work out cheaper than retail purchase.
 5.
... Is such decking really necessary ...
Why on earth should it be necessary? You make your patio out of what you want and treat and pay for it accordingly. It's as necessary as the most expensive York stone to make crazy paving...[:P]
 6.
NO! Lutece 2000 is an interior finishing plaster and is not suitable. It would attract moisture like a sponge and be a complete bodge if you tried to point with it.
Cheers. As I said, it was a query out of interest. Good job I went and bought some pukka stuff. That info may help somebody else as well. [:D]
 7. I'm starting some pointing tomorrow, but on checking, realised I was out of chaux blanche. But, I've a bag of freshly-opened Lutece 2000L (long duration) which I use for filling big gaps etc. Out of interest, would the Lutece mixed with sand produce a viable pointing mix? Anybody tried it? Cheers [B]
 8. How Much is Stone Worth? Rock bottom at the moment.
 9. If your sill is concrete then screw into that. But in any event, get decent timber. Once the sun gets on a sill, cheap wood will warp and split. A nice piece of oak from your local menuisier always looks good.
 10.
...tiles that are mounted on an under floor tile plastic shower tray...
I can't get my head around this. Can you explain it another way or provide a photo?
 11.

Dont be tempted to squeeze pipe into a gap that is too tight its better to have a bit more mortar than a split pipe inside the wall.
I must admit......French soil pipe is an awful lot thinner walled than the English variety.
I must admit to putting my full 100 kg on it and couldn't even begin to deform it, but I don't suppose there's any harm in putting some form of bridge over through the wall.
 12. I've just punched a hole through the exterior stone wall in preparation for a 100mm polyprop waste pipe. The pipe is tough and I can't see why it shouldn't be mortared in, but would it be advisable to somehow pad it and avoid contact with the stone/mortar (or even facilitate removal in case of a fault?) Cheers
 13. I wonder if it's down to how well set in the earth they are - need to be solid - and if different frequencies are manufactured. My two are quoted as nominal 400hz (300 - 500 in operation).
 14. I tried gassing and then the smoke bombs with limited success. Then I bought two of the sonic devices - four weeks and no moles, and none on my neighbours side of the fence, either. Whether it's just summer coincidence...
 15.

This sounds like a joint which is simply butt-ended. Is that OK in order to join two pipes?
no!
Glad to hear it.

 17. It's an ancient trick - let it settle, decant, then use the few slops on the bonfire. Same goes for paraffin etc. You'll also use far less turps if you keep your brushes in water between jobs: shake off the excess water and carry on painting.

 19.
...the Mrs tells me they are difficult to keep clean and that the jets and pipes can get blocked. All sounds a bit yucky...
No idea, but - Where does she get the information from that they are difficult to keep clean? What do the jets and pipes get blocked with? How? Who is telling her this? Are you sure that she just isn't trying to put you off?
 20.
As far as I am aware, your electrician is correct. It should be on all the time.
WHY, FFS, WHY? Please don't make a statement without giving reasons.
 21. The question is:
I was told by the local electrician (now no longer in the village) that VMCs should run continuously...
AZ wants the answer, WHY? It's totally irrelevant that others leave such stuff on all the time. The question is: WHY? If it was me, use it as you need it.
 22.
Apparently it's used as an insecticide and a reinforcer.
Préparation du support et application - Sur bois anciens : Si les bois sont attaqués : éliminer toutes les parties vermoulues, renforcer ou remplacer les éléments affaiblis . It doesn't reinforce. It's telling you as part of the preparation to reinforce or replace weakened wood before you start... Looks like a slightly better deal than Brico - depends how far one has to travel.
 23. What is the chimney breast made of? Does it get hot in itself from the flue, or because of radiant heat? Our metal ones are emulsioned and get exceptionally hot. No problems or discolouration in four years.
