Hi my heroic wife tried one tonight. She said it was very bitter. The dog finished it, but he'll eat anything given to him by his leader of the pack. A bit like me ? Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com

  7. Hi I hope this isn't being too simplistic, but ........ When opening Frontpage you get a blank page. Clicking on File in the top menu gives you the option to select recent files and recent websites. You may need to click the downward arrows to see this (only commonly used options are displayed). (the actual option names may be slightly different - my version is in French) I'm sure it has not vanished. Have you searched with windows explorer setting either a date range or the website name ? Bonne chance Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  8. LAST EDITED ON 25-May-04 AT 09:53 PM (BST) Hi putting my head over the parapet, but wearing a steel helmet, these people now have a shopping cart with a very low flat delivery charge of Euro 6 per order in mainland France. The link is : http://www.bestofbritish.fr Still not had that email about my SIRET No from you know who. And I was working legally in UK (whilst resident in France) yesterday ! 10. Hi I think you will have to pay TVA on it, based on it's value in France at the time of importation. (I assume you are not being posted to France by the military). The IDS agent near your base (or in UK) can advise better Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  11. LAST EDITED ON 21-May-04 AT 02:06 PM (BST) Hi The whole delta is rich in mosquitos. The coastal lagoons are sprayed by aircraft each morning. These areas were malarial until the 1950's. The good news is you will probably be OK in November. And you'll see plenty of pink flamingos Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  12. A liitle gem I picked up from the local papers : "Budgie feared lost in Quillan" Is that the sort of thing you need ? Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  13. hi The trip was slightly delayed and I booked the tickets today. For a meeting on Monday, and juggling flight days 1 day each way, the best return prices I found were : BA MTP>GTW Euro 116 FlyThompson MRS>Coventry Euro 63 Ryanair Nimes>STN Euro 153 Ryanair MTP>STN Euro 220 Unfortunately FlyThompson didn't suit my location & times on this trip, so I took BA. Obviously the pricing would have been different had I known the dates earlier. Anyone tried FlyThompson yet ? Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  14. Hi I've got a few notes about pools here : http://tlp.netfirms.com/pool.htm I don't know too much about above ground pools, but local knowledge says : Base must be absolutely flat The base is crucial (1m3 = 1ton) and above ground pools are normally 25+m3 The liner is the weakest link - get the thickest liner you can They heat up and cool down faster than in ground pools Here, they break the 30C water temp barrier quite often in summer and this can result in algae problems In very hot weather (40+C) it may be worth covering them by day and leaving open at night Many locals just leave them uncovered in winter and sort out the mess in Spring Be conscious that pool chemicals (galettes, ph+, ph-, hivernage, Cl shock, floculant) can damage the liner if not well diluted Even the small ones are expensive to refill with domestic tap water (better to preserve the existing water, than replace) Sand filters are more efficient than the cartridge types Build a shelter for the sand filter The fine yellow sand from the sahara is too small for the filter - pump it out to waste As the temp increases, keep an eye on Cl (sunlight accelerates usage) So, pool news from here - the winter cover was taken off two weeks ago. The sahara sand, etc was vacuumed out to waste. Now clear and around 23C. I've even been in a couple of times. Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  15. Hi there were a lot in 83, but we had a few in Languedoc, too. I saw the Canadairs swooping on one fire whilst driving along the A9 motorway one day. Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  16. hi I need to go to UK at short notice and have been checking some prices. Thompson Fly : http://www.thomsonfly.com are very cheap. Currently they only fly Coventry to Marseilles & Nice ..... OK for me, but maybe not for those up North around Dordogne ? Anyone had experience with this new service ?? Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com

An >address would be perfect. > Would this be the same Jonathan Suffolk who lives in France, installs satellite dishes in France yet chooses not to have a Siret, insists on payment in Sterling and is very shy about his address? Best of luck tracking him down. --------------------------------------- Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  18. Hi I bought a new car tax free in Sweden and imported it into France. As an EU resident, the tax free plates lasted about 1 month. The only benefit is that the French TVA is based on the original tax free price. At the time I did it, the Swedish tax free price (Peugeot 406HDI) was about FF 30,000 less than the French tax free price. So the saving was FF30,000 + about FF 6,000 on the VAT. Differences in the basic car price depend on exchange rates and market positioning. It is not easy to exactly match specification to make the comparison; Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  19. Hi Anyone can buy, or sell, any property in France. But my experience is that the locals know about the best deals first ! There is a market in buying , and renovating, properties for expats because the locals think mainly of local opportunities. Peter http://tlp.netfirms.com
  20. Hi So just to be sure .......... is this OK ? Peter The Languedoc Page http://tlp.netfirms.com

  22. Hi I signed up for this a while ago. Seems to work ....... I met someone in a local restaurant who thanked me for putting the link on my site because it was much cheaper than their previous Hertz rentals. 23. LAST EDITED ON 14-Apr-04 AT 09:22 PM (GMT) Hi be happy . Until recently the flights to Montpellier (and Nimes) arrived at around 22.00. Peter The Languedoc Page : http://tlp.netfirms.com
  24. Hi I've only imported new EU spec vehicles into France. US / Japanese / Euro specs are very different ........ even for apparently the same model. I'd check out what exemptions are available for private individuals arriving in EU with a vehicle previously registered to them in a non EU state. It's probably also worth contacting one of the Belgian import - export specialists. They can give you better advice. And once registered in EU transfers are easy. But .......... why not just sell at home and buy a EU conforming equivalent here ? It may be cheaper than the conversion costs + the transport ? Peter The Languedoc Page : http://tlp.netfirms.com
  25. hi it is more expensive if you need to re-register in another dept. I learnt that the hard way ! Peter The Languedoc Page : http://tlp.netfirms.com
