Hi, If you are using Windows xp you will now have an icon in your system tray (bottom right of screen near the clock) that looks like a star, right click on it, select 'Change notification settings' this will take you to Microsofts webpage.  Expand the 'Windows Genuine Notification Options'  untick the box alongside 'Display Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications messages' click on 'Save settings' and windows will stop telling you your version is not genuine.  You must set your automatic updates to 'ON' - Control Panel - Security Centre- Automatic Updates.

Hi Heather, I don't think you have had any replies because the information you require is not available.  I have trawled both the French and UK Orange websites and it is almost impossible to contact them by email.  They are quite happy to list the telephone numbers (National rate or Premium rate) but are coy about their email contact. Hi, There is a lot of info in the Help and Support Centre on System Restore, however if you have turned off System Restore or exceeded the allocated space on your hard drive for System Restore (this will turn it off) when it is turned on again all your restore points are lost.  I suggest you browse the Help centre the answer to your specific problem may be there.   Best of Luck

Hi, Error Safe is a malicious spyware programme that will plague you constantly if you don't remove it from your PC,  if Spybot or any other spyware detection programme doesn't detect Error Safe, you can remove it by going to 'Control Panel - Add and Remove programmes', locate Error Safe on the list, click on it to highlight then remove.

Hi Weedon, I believe Scan Express is a basic image editing programme bundled with many scanners.  Does Scan Express have a menu bar across the top? if so click on File - Save as, then select My Document - My Pictures as the folder to save in rename with a unique name then click save.  The image should now be saved in its raw state in the required folder.

On a visit to UK my wife had severe abdominal pain and went to local hospital at Tameside Greater Manchester, after 12 hours in agony she still hadn't seen the triage nurse, saw the nurse after 13 hours and told another 4 hours wait.  She gave up as we were returning to Brittany that evening. On return to France she had the same pain and we went to Ploermel hospital, she saw the doctor within 10 minutes, had various tests including scan, x-ray, blood tests and gastRoscopy (I think that is the spelling) within one hour and was admitted for an op which was completed the next day.  SUPERB.

One other point to mention, when you have installed all that Mazan suggests, you 'Memory stick' still won't be recognised by windows 98, it should have come with a driver disk for windows 98 if not go to the manufacturers website and download them.  

When you had your Hard drive formatted, did you re-install the drivers for your sound card?, if not your computer doesn't know it is there. Another possibility is that the cable from your sound card to your CDRom is not connected.

I like others on this thread retired before moving to France and my Fire Service Pension lump sum was paid whilst still a British resident.  I don't understand how some of you can be French Residents yet have not yet 'Retired' from a Civil Service job.  There was no way I could travel from Brittany to work my shift duty at a Fire Station. As Redcap explains the lump sum is voluntary not compulsory, I could have chosen to take my full pension with no lump sum, or commute part of it in exchange for a lump sum, i.e. for every £100 pension I gave up I received a pre determined amount up to a maximum commutation of 25% of the pension.

Wanadoo is the problem, they and AOL use imap which basically means they take over your connection and utilise outlook express only through their connection, if you used their set up disk instead of a manual set up then you cannot use outlook express unless you connect through their connection wizard.  On this forum Mazan used to caution against ISP's set up disks for this very reason.  Unfortunately I can't remember the link he posted to assist you in the manual set up of your account.   tel
