  1. Check your credit/charge card, if it includes travel insurance it often includes car hire excess cover.
  2. It does go on here and in Spain. Just make sure you you a capm site and beware of parking in Aires overnight for free, if you have to, park in service stations with CCTV. ANother option is to put fake French number plates on. They only target non-national vans. BUT remember to remove them in the morning. I have also heard of non-French cars being a big target at supermarkers, both by Albanain and North Africans.
  3. You can always buy a book airside, and even a cheap portable CD (and a CD or 10)player if they still sell such ancient objects.
  4. I live in coastal AUDE (11) which is slim for the most of the year but come JULY/AUGUST it is invaded by fat people. Whcih region of France do these fat slobs come from? Is there a fat slob capital, full of fat munching losers?
  5. I used to work in the CITY before dropping out before I burnt out. This is a normal 'release'. Work hard, play hard. You only need to go to a city bar after 10pm. In my day it was 'it make large' i.e. big wads of cash, big wraps (coke).Big pads (Dockland flats). For good or bad (;-) ) I missed out on some of this, because I worked for my father's company, so only put in a few hours a day,but stilled enjoyed some of the lifestyle.. From friends who still work in the SQ MILE., I understand that drugs are now massive there, and now just nose candy and weed.

  7. It's very simple, if you kill a cyclist with your car it is concidered MURDER hence French driviers over-taking them on blind bends, into oncoming traffic. If they crash and kill another car driver, it is only reckless driving.
  8. There's always a lot of Gendarmes action in July and August (they must have a crap union lol). We used to get stopped in the car at least 10 times in this period each, but now we know most of them by name in our area they just wave us on. House visits...Brings a new meaning to proactive policeing :-) Most of the crimes a Brit would commit fall outside of there remit, i.e tax evasion, planning laws, off the books working.Maybe they are just getting interior design ideas........
  9. If you travel and use rental cars I would keep your U.K. licence. My wife's got a French licence and when she rents is also asked for a translation/internation driving licence.I on the other hand have never been asked for my international driving licence. We have rented cars in about 20 countries, always with my wife as a second driver.
  10. Grab a meal on the way (basse ville) and take a sandwich, a friend eat there once.....and you do not need to be that early for Ryanair
  11. THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES . [/quote] Give Thomson a miss, I had one just for using the my playstation and it died a very early death, after very little use, and I mean little.
  12. I if was you I would look at www.myspace.com (90 million users WOW) or www.multiply.com More of an all round community, with photo postings, blogs and groups etc. Something for everyone in either of these sites.
  13. We find, that 5-10€ gets a god drinkable wine, but it is no easy to find good wines (at any low price), we buy a lot from some of the new and smaller domaines in our area.

    Insults

I think you must remember that in pro sport , there's lots of money involved, getting an head butt, most likely earned him €100,000 plus. A few well placed insults= big money.
  16. Tosser!!!! The point is more money is spent on catching people who have assets i.e.for crimes like speeding ( which makes the police money) then for other petty crimes. It seems to have money makes you a target and a criminals in the goverments eyes. If goverments spent the money it cost to set up traffic cams, etc ( now recouped meny times) nf pedo's and rapists, maybe the world would be a safer place for kids. BUT WHERE IS THE PROFIT IN THAT.
  17. Mornington Crescen A short walk to Drummond St and some great restaurants. Also poor mans camden town. Points, give me points :-)
  18. Maybe it is the royal 'WE'. Queen Dick of Endland,as got a certain ring to it.
  19. Always seen stoners outside Lidl so seem logical there are also some inside lol
  20. Where the police reports made of the accidents, these can be an issue if it went to the 'experts' for costing. Best bet would be to try another broker, or you insure the car yourself and not hubby.
  21. If you want to send photos to mobiles there are some online services that do this. Good if your friends do not have e-mail.
  22. I ear the English Sangatte ( Euro Tunnel departures building) is very busy these days.
  23. Yep French websites for the most part are rubbish and over designed. They have some of the slowest retail sites I ever seen. When I want to buy something, I do not want a 'flash intro" heavy graphics, java up the ying yang. I tried to buy some tryes online a few weeks ago. From the home page to the page of the product I was looking for took over 15 pages. We call it the Proust effect.
  24. There are a few good mid-range hotel in the centre. La Residence is ok and with private parking. Have a look on Narbonnes website for tourist info. Type, Narbonne, tourisme, into google.fr
  25. My fav is the South African road sign 'Slag Gate' . We keep seeing this sign when driving from Cape Town to Botswana. I thought it was a towns name, but it just meant pot holes.
