1. I have not been fined when stopped by the gendarmes, I was very polite to them, but I have a distinct feeling that if they are feeling a bit off, they will fine you for something?  Anyone else feel the same? My heart stops when I see them hiding round bridges and bends, even though I know I am an honest citizen, so why is that. Georgina
2. Thanks for that, I was just wanting to confirm, sounded too good to be true, I don't trust banks much.[;-)]   Georgina
3. Having opened a Nationwide account I was wondering what exchange rate you got this week please on cash only?  I phoned Nationwide and they were unable to tell me the current exchange rate on cash, if I withdrew now, so I could work out whether it would be worth it.  They ummed and aarred.  So let us work out how much they are getting as against the current exchange rate, anyone? I fail to understand why they could not give me this information, or is it better that they keep it secret and let us believe we are all on a good deal because they don't charge commission or loading? Georgina
4.   Okay if there is meant to be some truth in the characters Woolybb, how about a 'Mr Asbo", Miss Teen Mum and a Mr Lager lout" for British characters. [:)][:)][:)] Georgina
5. So, they understand customer satisfaction then, not.  Give them a miss. I think.[:@] Georgina
6. You know it is really sad, that we do not give credit to our children for having any intelligence, to be able to distinguish between a ficitional character and a real one, and as if they learn that all French people are like this.  Really, our children are not that stupid.  My children loved Mr Men, but all the characters are exaggerated for gawd's sake. 7. Gosh it sure puts things into perspective. you come to France to enjoy the rest of your life and you get killed by a drunk from Bognor Regis. Georgina
8. Why were you five minutes late, I would have been five hours early...... maybe they think you do not care. Georgina
9. Aren't these rumours how wars are started. [:)] Surely a little glitch is to be expected now and again with all websites and even with humans. Georgina
10. Our doesn't. They advertise 12 and shut at 12.  However, they are constantly driving me up the wall with their changing times of last post collection, which changes almost weekly.  Grrrr...  but this is France. Georgina
11. When my French friend told me this I thought she was joking to have believed such a thing as she is quite young.  It must go back years this belief. Georgina
12. Isn't anyone worried that Sarky does not (or possible could not) have or had his mind on the job, so to speak.   The women is almost an exact replica of his ex wife, albeit younger.  Georgina
13.
We always use a credit card and pay it off every month - we are using one with 4% cash back atm and have earned £300 on it since we took it out in October.  When the deal ends we will change to another card.  Not having a credit card is wasting money on lost interest and free deals.
The problem would be for me not being able to hire a car without a credit card which you need to go back home or abroad. I am a little worried that they are binning a lot of people who actually pay off their card each month, which even though some are saying they are a business, don't they actually make a percentage from the shops anyhow, so why would they do this?  Unless they are binning the people that do the credit card shuffle and use one card to pay off another, switching from one deal to another, as Martin Lewis suggested once. Georgina
14. I particularly hate the term that advertisers use "luxury" which usually describes something that is bog standard because otherwise it would be 'ultra luxurious'.  Agh!! Georgina
15. Get a life Ernie (I mean that in the nicest possible way) [:D] Georgina
16. Sounds just like my old office.[:D] And this is France? Georgina
17. The one I really hate is "basically" - "basically" this and that, what the use is that word.  Usually used by thickos trying to sound intelligent. And someone who always says "so that we can move forward, they can go forward," when someone has died or someone has lost somebody.  Newsreaders say it immediately something terrible has happened, which is like telling someone they cannot grieve for more than a day as they have to "move forward". I hate that. [:@] Georgina
18.
Ahhhhhhhhh !
Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh ????? [8-)][8-)][8-)]
19. Use a circuit breaker just to be sure when using appliances.  Or else get your rubber catsuit out.[6] Georgina
20. I know what she means, my mother is always starting a conversation with "you should do this, and you should do that".  Taking the moral highground over something when it could be a matter of opinion. No?  Hassling someone over what they should do or what that person thinks they should be doing. Perfect English. Georgina
21. There were gendarmes on practically every street corner yesterday, and hiding behind bridges.  It gave me quite a fright seeing so many, I was convinced they were going to fine me for something like having my steering wheel on the wrong side,[:)] they are quite scary.  I wonder why yesterday there were so many in and around Morlaix.  Georgina
22. I have one bad eye and went to see a consultant here with a view to paying privately.  He said they were very up to date with all the technology and would not recommend me having it done.  He said come back in three years when your other eye is worse.  I am going to England to have a second opinion. Georgina
23. Righto, seems a bit ridiculous as we get paid in Sterling and need this account even though in France. Anyone got a sterling account with Credit Agricole, I know they were offering something to run alongside your Britline accounts. Georgina   EDIT: forget the above I have just looked and they want a minimum of £10,000 in the currency account - yeah right, they think we are all loaded [:D][:)][:)]
24. I just tried to open a Nationwide current account on line and it read that you had to be a UK resident.  So if you move to France, do you still give them a UK address? What exactly, could someone explain, is the reason you have to be a UK resident?   And if you do, do you have to relinquish your account when you move to France?
25. It's terrible, I get about 30 a day.  All really disgusting too.  They get round all the bans using digits between letters.  Where they know a way around the antispam they will use it.  I often get my sons reading my e mails over my shoulder, which can be difficult to explain when all the emails have disgusting words in the heading so I don't even have to download it. [:(]There are some sickos about. Georgina
