  1. As far as i know, most women at some time in their life  would have paid a full UK Ni stamp and then would qualify for a pension even if if it's for a pitiful amount.
  2. Not forgetting that some women can get an E121 at age 60 or thereabouts depending on their year of birth.
  3. As TU says, you need to be very specific and  ask Newcastle to send you a letter of refusal for an E form it's the normal procedure for everyone resident here, when for example  an E106 expires and you then need to register under the French criteria, CPAM will accept the letter of refusal from Newcastle and then take you on their books, it's just the way it as to be done.
  4. after all why should the vendor want a private sale?  They pay no agents fees so why do a private sale. Because, if the agent values my house and puts it up for sale at €245k inclusive of agents fees, I would only receive €230k  I can put it on sale privately at €235k and save the buyer €10k a more attractive proposition for the buyer.
  5. Just a point to add to the above, the vendor would have received this years tax Fonciers bill and will have to pay it by the 15th of october, in this region at least.
  6. If when you signed the Acte, you also signed that you would pay the vendor a proportion of the tax and this seems likely, if it's the Notaire asking you for the money. If you didn't sign, then it's up to you, if you want to pay or not
  7. You could try this site. http://www.expatica.com/source/site_content_subchannel.asp?subchannel_id=25
  8. Your E111 will not cover you, it is designed for emergency holliday treatment only and if you make a claim you may be asked to prove your date of entry into France, you should get the appropriate E form for your circumstances.
  9. You can use Sky+ in France, as I have posted several times but you need a company in the UK to fake your telephone connection, despite some prat in a previous posting saying that it's only an accomodation address that you are paying for and that Sky do not check the telephone connection, they do and this works.
  10. You just had to click on the link I gave in my previous post and choose "France" as your country, here it is. http://www.europ-assistance.fr/front/
  11. Try pressing the "Insert" Key on your keyboard and see if that works.
  12. I get my skiing insurance from europ assistance you can sign up on line, if you only want accident insurance you can buy it at the ticket office on the ski slopes for a small amount. http://www.europ-assistance.com/

    Dentist charges?

I don't think you have to be worried about the cost, the visit and the replacement filling, which will be a white filling by the way, should be covered to the usual percentage under CPAM, I expect the total cost would be around €50/60 to pay the dentist, then you should be reimbursed about 65% of that on your Carte Vitale.
  16. Buy a macerator toilet in France from one of the brico's the type that is built into the toilet pan (not a separate bolt on unit) they look ok and work well. I fitted one six years ago and it still works perfectly, yes there is a noise for a few seconds after flushing but for an occasional use toilet, I find that acceptable, don't be put off.
  17. I think that this site answers all your questions. http://www.autosinternational.fr/fra/pratique/carte_grise_collection.html
  18. I think you may get an answer on this site.   http://www.minidisc.org/very_faq.html
  19. You can see for yourself on the following link. http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/particuliers/F1464.xhtml?&n=Transports&l=N18&n=Automobiles%20et%20deux-roues&l=N529&n=Permis%20de%20conduire&l=N530
  20. You will have to make up your own mind on the advice given to you on this forum, but then why ask a question if you don't want to act on the information given from people who may have been in the same position as you?  If your partner dies tomorrow, 24 or not, if you own a property together you could loose everything if you are not married.
  21. If you haven't done so already you could look at this site, I have not checked it out but it looks interesting. http://www.123-assurances.com/fr/mutuelle+assurance?adword=mutuelle Q If I have a policy that pays 200% does that mean the cost gets paid and I get the cost of the treatment/service reimbursed to me as well( A bit like h HSA in the UK?)  If not, what does 200% mean? Doctors, Hospitals/clinics and most health care professionals normally have an agreement with CPAM and the Mutuels to charge in a certain band structure "conventioné", for example go to a doctor charging the agreed €20 per consultation who is "conventioné"  and you would get reimbursed according to that scale ie. around 70% of €20 by CPAM and the other 30% by your mutuel if you have one, that's €20 back in your pocket. However some medical professionals, Hospitals, Clinics, can charge over the set base tariff and that could be 200% 300% 400% etc. but CPAM  would still only reimburse you around 70%  of the agreed base tariff   The mutuel if you have one, would pay the other 30% of the agreed base tariff, you could be left with a large bill to pay yourself. For example: The doctor/surgeon now charges say €60 for a consultation you would only receive 70% of €20 by CPAM and 30% of €20 by your Mutuel, to get the difference you would need to increase your Mutuel to 200,300,400% etc. to offset the extra For instance some surgeons,Hospitals and specialists have an agreed rate over and above the normal base rate they are allowed to charge a little extra for their skills and some are (non conventioné) they make up their own fees and unless you have increased your mutuel to cover the extra then you would have to pay for any excess payments over and above the base rate, That's why the mutuels offer the different Tariffs 100,200,300,400% etc so you would be fully covered in most circumstances. I am sure you would not get a rebate if you don't have to pay the full amount you are covered up to. I hope this makes some sense, it looks quite complicated and I am sure someone else could have said the same thing in a couple of sentences.
  22. The list of items you will need to re-register the vehicle as far as I remember.   Documents to take Hôtel Des Impôts to get the Certificate Fiscal   Original vehicle registration document (log book) or export certificate Proof of residence EDF /Telecom bill Passport Mileage of vehicle Proof of purchase, as discussed earlier     Documents to take to the Prefecture/sub Prefecture   Certificate of European Conformity Original vehicle registration document (log book) or export certificate Certificate Fiscal (from Hôtel Des Impôts) Proof of residence EDF /Telecom bill   The completed form, you can get one online http://www2.equipement.gouv.fr/formulaires/formfiche.asp?IdFormulaire=10&NumFormulaire=10672 You can also get one in the Prefecture/sub Prefecture
  23. I am sure that you would be able to buy a dish and LNB from Mr Bricolage, Castorama and the like but the deals they do complete with decoder are usually hard to beat, just put the decoder box in the cupboard and use the dish, to watch Sky programs you will need a numerique (digital) LNB not analogue they are normally sold in the kit as above as universal LNB's.
  24. European Certificate of Conformity, they can get it from VW, either France or Holland it maybe easier to get it in France, normally VW will make a charge for it, approx €100/150. the Certificate Fiscal you obtain from the Local tax office in France it's just a formality for a second hand car, any bit of paper that says I Purchased the vehicle from "**********" for €******* dated and signed by someone will do to take along to the tax office to get the certificate, and it is free. If you can't find the full details from a search on this site let me know and I will try and post them for you.
  25. It doesn't matter whether the vehicle comes from Holland or the UK, it's still the same procedure, get a European certificate of conformity from the vehicle manufacturer, a C.T if the car is over 4 years old, a Certificate Fiscal to say that the VAT has been paid, then go the Prefecture/sub Prefecture with all your documents, passport/proof of residence/EdF bill etc, for the Carte Grise, the details have been posted on the forum many times
