  1. Can anyone tell me if fishing licences in France run for 1 year from date of issue or 1 year from Jan 1st?
  2. Thanks for information - we now seem to have another problem ( perhaps once I am swimming again I will think a pool is worth the effort) the guage is now reading just about 0.2bars!
  3. Hi We have just opened our pool and have recieved conflicting advice - we have a diatomaceous earth fitre and wee told buy the previous owner that we added the powder at the beginning of the season. We have now been told by Aquilus Picine Company that we should be adding powder after a weekly backwash. Does anyone have any thoughts as there seems to be a vast difference.
  4. Help - Is there a French Dyna Rod type company
  5. Hi We moved last August into storage and then in October from just outside Stratford upon Avon to Burgundy - had excellent service from Cotswold Carriers based in Chipping Norton.
  6. Hi Could you bear to send me information on pool fencing as well - we have recently moved into a house with a pool and are confused about the regulations Thanks GMG

    Cooker

Hi Here's my  two penny worth or should that be 2 euros now I live in France? We have just purchased an Ariston 90cm wide cooker with 5 gas rings and large electric oven from Darty -free delivery and free conversion of jets to propane - our bottles are blue - and yes propane must be kept outside. We ahd same system in UK except used calor -1 bottle used to last between 8 -12 weeks.
  8. Forget about dieting and change to a healthy eating plan. I lost 3stone (sorry not into Kg yet) by following Slimmers World healthy eating plan - nothing is forbidden and once you have got your head around the basic rules and philosophy you don't really have to think about it. Perhaps the one thing that might be a problem I find it difficult to find skimmed milk in supermarkets. Slimmers World do not operate in France but you can access their stuff online. Good luck to all of you trying to loose weight its not really about the kgs its about self esteem and how you feel within yourself. p.s. I have maintained my loss for almost 2years now.
  9. Would be interested to know how you get on with your E106, I have just contacted U.K. office who are sending me forms. We will be residents from December and are not yet retirement age but have no plans to work so I hope this is the correct form.

  11. Read all replies with interest as I have been trying to find a LHD car in the UK prior to moving out in Dec. How do I get myself and all my stuff (too bulky/expensive to send by air/Fedex) to Bugundy?(My husband is already there and has purchased a LHD) car so unless anyone has a spare magic carpet I will have to drive my RHD car over and hope to sell it on our 1st trip back to the UK.
  12. I agree get your agent to help - we had quotes from Credit Agricole but found that the quote from the local AxA agent was lower.
  13. Am completing on house on 25th October my husband is staying out while I return to UK to complete my notice period. We would like to purchase a car asap -any suggestions / recommendations in the Clayette area - we are just looking for a runabout for the time being.
  14. Not really about parking but just to say we are travelling to France to complete on our house 25th October a date we requested because it is half term - we got a tunnel ticket (we are bringing two cats and didn't want to risk a choppy crossing) for £98 you need to travel after 5pm and return before 11a.m.
  15. Sorry to disagree I think they are fantastic especially the ones around Beaune. I do however also eat chitlings when I get the chance in the U.K. What about faggots?
  16. Has anyone any experience of selling right hand drive cars in France?
  17. Hi Have just discovered this forum. We are moving to house just outside La Clayette Dept 71 (just waiting for the notaire to do his thing) Hope to be moved by end of year. From all the other french forums I have visited it seems we have chosen an area with very few Brits or maybe they are all very quiet in this area. gmg

    Pet Passports

As we are planning on moving our 2 cats when we finally complete on our sale (hopefully at the end of October) I have had them microchipped, rabies injections etc and have been issued with blue pet passports ~ there is even a space for a photo (optional). My vets seemed quite willing to contact Defra for the latest information on my behalf. As we are moving permanantly we did not bother with blood tests as we do not expect to have to import them back into U.K. Hope they work when we get to customs! gmg
