1.
Any mechanic dealing with modern cars should have a diagnostics code reader as it is needed to ascertain exactly what is wrong in some instances.
I depends on the level of diagnosis required - a standard OBD 2 code reader will read codes , anything deeper needs Volvo specific software to make sense of their codes.
2. Mme LePen would have a hard job justifying chucking us brits out, being as how she is the daughter of a Breton - and where do the Bretons originate from?
3. I'll second that about Epson printers. We've got an Epson XP 610 -scans copies prints etc - doesn't dry the print heads out and we buy generic cartridges amazingly cheaply at about £25 for five sets of five carttridges. Possibly the best printer we've had - and we've had a few.
4. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is reported as in the process of changing the law to re-enable capital punishment. Another Muslim dictator that the area does not need.
5. A coup attempt in Turkey involves a substantial part of the military and "not just a few colonels", a European Union source monitoring events in the EU candidate country said on Friday. "It looks like a relatively well orchestrated coup by a substantial body of the military, not just a few colonels," the source told Reuters. "They’ve got control of the airports and are expecting control over the TV station imminently," the source said, shortly before state television TRT broadcast a military declaration of martial law. "They control several strategic points in Istanbul. Given the scale of the operation, it is difficult to imagine they will stop short of prevailing," the source said. Another European diplomat said he was attending a dinner with the Turkish ambassador in a European capital when they were interrupted by messages on their mobile phones. "This is clearly not some tinpot little coup. The Turkish ambassador was clearly shocked and is taking it very seriously," the diplomat told Reuters as the dinner party broke up.
6. So, to round off an interesting week, it is reported that the military have taken over in Turkey. Beam me up Scotty!
7. We bought a Dell laptop from Amazon UK and it was shipped to France for us to use in France. We had a lot of trouble with it, but the support from Dell was first class, both by phone, remote operation and two service visits by an engineer to our house. Solved eventually-so we know that Dell warranty works in Europe.
8. Maybe forum admin might consider using the help outlined on this site? http://stopforumspam.com/
9. You lot need to get out and about a bit more - the fake passports and cheap kitchen touts are infesting just about every forum I view-it's not exactly unusual.
10. I don't see that where you chose to live has anything to do with your bank in the UK or anywhere else. We have vatious accounts with a UK bank and live in France and have done for 7 years with no problems. Contact any bank on the Channel Islands and they will be only too glad to open an account for you in any currency.
11.
Healthcare won't change. Given the far greater number of French living in the UK there will be some bilateral agreement that will allow access to the healthcare system in the country that you are living in. The French living in the UK don't pay for their heathcare and the majority I suspect don't want to leave. Same with the Polish, Germans or whoever.
Given that the French who currently work in the UK mostly left France to get out from under the French tax regime, the French government may take a different view, and be keen to get their lost sheep back in the taxpaying fold!
12. Here's some anti-EU news, hot off the press tonight. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/26/brexit-was-junckers-fault-and-he-must-go-says-czech-foreign-mini/
13. Lost or forgotten a password? Email GCHQ - they'll be able to find it for you
14. Just as well I only bet a quid then! You have to admit that the central/eastern european tendency have usually been implicated previously.
15. From-Peter Foster in the Telegraph Tuesday 31st May 2016 It is nearly midnight and the sound of bongo drums is beating out across Paris’s Place de la Republique where several hundred people are drinking beer, smoking weed and - as one of their numbers says - “bearing witness”. Witness to what, exactly, is not immediately clear. The mostly young crowd is gathered under a banner that says “Nuit Debout” – which roughly translates as “Rise up at Night” – but beyond that there are few clues as to what unites the protesters gathered under the watchful gaze of several hundred riot police. A quick survey of the crowd reveals feminists, environmentalists, socialists, specie-ists (who oppose the tyranny of humans over animals), as well as an anti-Islamophobia caucus, political groups defending Palestinians and those still saying “non” to labour reforms.
16. They may very well be British, but I'll bet they are not english.
17. From what I have read on various forums it would seem that different envelopes are being sent out. Some have a window envelope together with a brown envelope for the vote. Some, like ours that turned up today have the postage window as described with no brown inner envelope.
18. I have, somewhere in the grenier, a photo of my Uncle, Dad's brother, on a Norton, probably at around the same year as this photo. He was resplendant in a pair of immaculate plus-fours as I remember the photo. If I can find it I will scan it and post it on here.
19. "It's clearly stated on the application form" Very possibly-I wouldn't know-I haven't got mine yet - I'm just passing on the information.
20. I emailed my local authority about this and they have replied: Thank you for your email. Our first run of overseas electors ballot papers were despatched by Airmail yesterday, these included a special pre-paid international return envelope as directed by The Electoral Commission and specifically arranged with Royal Mail for this referendum only. The Electoral Commission contact details are: Public enquiries and information Please telephone 0333 103 1928 or email [email protected]. Alternatively please write to the Electoral Commission at the address: 3 Bunhill Row London, EC1Y 8YZ Should you now wish to cancel your postal vote and vote by proxy; we will first require the return of these postal ballot papers no later than 5pm 8 June – these would have to be returned in a plain envelope with your request to cancel (as if you used the reply envelope these will only be opened at an official postal vote opening sessions which may not be until after that deadline of the 8th June) I attach a proxy application form should you now wish to change your voting method.
21. Yes - managed to magnify it and it looks Norton now- what is that vertical black cylinder in front of the engine? Can't be a horn because there's a bulb horn on the handlebar. I looked at the hooky ref and came up with:- http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/14807.html So could be but can't find a picture of him. I would say that the date of the picture is early to mid 1930's looking at the jacket.
22. I agree with ebaynut it is very similar to a CS1 Norton except that the left hand side camshaft drive is not Norton CS1.
23. Any further clues? -English or continental? The bike tank detail looks very much like a Norton, but the engine profile is a puzzle - it's an OHC engine but doesn't look like a Norton engine of that era
