3. My candidate for the best western is:- The Outlaw Josie Wales. I just like the way it is made and the characters.
4. "My grandmother hated the man as she reckoned that he ordered troops to fire on striking miners. Didn't matter about the war." I wouldn't want to be in dispute with your, or anybody else's grandmother, but the facts are :- In 1911, a strike began in the coal mines at Rhondda in early November of the same year. It arose out of a dispute concerning wage differentials in the working of hard and soft seams. Many men were involved, estimates varying between 25,000 and 30,000, and many different pits were affected. There was looting and the local authorities appealed to the War Office for troops. On hearing of this, Churchill as Home Secretary consulted the Secretary of War, Haldane, and they agreed instead to send police, but to hold some troops in reserve near by. Churchill’s whole conduct in the matter has since been grotesquely distorted, and it has become a part of socialist demonology that Churchill sent troops who fired upon the miners of Tonypandy. Socialist propagandists have sought to make martyrs of the miners of Tonypandy comparable to those of Tolpuddle in 1834. Churchill's memorandum to the King 10th November 1910 "Reports today from the whole of the Rhondda Valley are satisfactory. Absolute order has been maintained around all the threatened collieries. A few trifling incidents of window breaking have occurred in two of the villages. The 1,400 Police at the disposal of the Chief Constable will, it is expected, be able not merely to prevent attacks upon the collieries but to control the whole district and to deal promptly with any sign of a disorderly gathering large or small. No need for the employment of the military is likely to occur. They will be kept as far as possible out of touch with the population, while sufficiently near to the scene to be available if necessary…. With the view however of increasing the strength of the police force in the district to a point which will obviate all risk of having to use the military, two further contingents, aggregating 500 additional police, have been sent from London. The whole district is now in the effective control of the police, and there appears to be no reason at present why the policy of keeping the military out of direct contact with the rioters should be departed from" The lies and folklore continued even into the1960's when it was put about that Churchill had authorised the use of tanks against the miners. (Tanks weren't invented until WW1)
5. "I find it amazing that so many people here claim that all French drivers drive in exactly the same (dangerous) manner" For example:- >The antics of french drivers attempting to overtake a vehicle, but they can't see the road ahead because they won't drop back to get a better view of the road ahead. >And the also well known habit of their reluctance to overtake on a straight road, but waiting until there is a blind brow or corner approaching. >The french tailgating habit. >Their total inability to signal their intentions in any meaningful way when using roundabouts. >The way that they exit side turnings on your left when you are approaching and swing out into your right hand lane. >Treating speed humps as a challenge and attempting to get airborn over them by increasing their speed. And of course the famous "It's priorite a droit here so I reserve the right to exit this side road without looking to my left because any approaching vehicle must stop for me (even if it's travelling at 90 kph and the exit is blind) We've all seen examples of the above - not amazing at all!
6. "On occasions, when I can see clear road ahead, I've slowed down, indicated and pulled into the side of the road to MAKE them pass - and sometimes even then they don't get the message but come to a halt behind me !!" I totally agree - exactly the same situation every time I have to reverse into our driveway - following car - indicate right slow down- stop to get rid of the following car - driver's reaction is "Duh - the car has stopped what's going on?"
7. For some strange reason French drivers do not seem to have been taught the importance of road positioning - or reading the road postioning of other drivers. IE - A driver/rider has checked behind, signals left in good time and moves left to postion just to the right of the centre line or crown of the road and is approaching an entrance/driveway, then slowly comes to a halt waiting for oncoming traffic to clear before turning into the entrance. This happens to me every Saturday on our regular shopping run turning into our local Intermarché. 50% of the time the following driver ends up stopped, half a metre from my back bumper, wondering what is going on, and there is more than car's width available to pass my car on the right. So yes - driver training in France needs overhauling!

9. "If the rain water from the gutters goes to the mains sewage can't you use them ????? " A surface water drain must not discharge into a foul water drain.
10. I don't know what fosse regulations apply in your area but when we had our last fosse inspection we were required to run the taps of each basin, sink shower and bath separately while the inspector listened to the water going into the fosse tous eaux. And flush each toilet separately too for the same reason to make sure all waste water is going into the fosse. What about installing some sort of pump to pump the grey water round to the fosse - Saniflo shower tray pump ?
11. "Mr. Hulot most likely used a resignation threat to blackmail the government." A great pity that they didn't ignore his threat and build the airport. What a result that could have been. A brand-new airport and get rid of Hulot. What's not to like?
12.
Saw that Chancer had posted that he was back to normal I was not, my post which says that I am was actually when I was. 13. "If anyone sees them in the prospectus please let me know as the livreur cant be ar5ed to deliver the publicité to my road." Lidl France have a website. All the forthcoming offers are on it - so you know when to get to your nearest Lidl store at half-past stupid o'clock in the morning so you can be first in the queue in front of the other gannets, From experience-don't bother with a trolley, it just slows you down on the sprint to where you think what you want will be!
14. I'm a bit puzzled as to why you find this forum unusable with either IE or chrome. I don't have problem normally on Windoze 8.1 +chrome and I just checked on Internet Explorer - it gives the same result - absolutely fine. Could the problems you have be at your end?
The two links that I posted to the Einhell uk website state that they make them under licence and refer to Lidl and their Parkside brand.

18. We have a similar sized room, dining room, lounge, high ceiling/atrium over the lounge etc, reasonably well insulated. Heated with a Villager "A" flat top, which is 16 kw max output, and a stove fan on top, you need to have a bit of heating capacity in reserve for when it gets really cold if it's your primary source of heating. Also, we can burn it hot to get the room up to temperature and then turn it down - it's nice to have more heating capacity than you need when it's really cold - like at the moment! Choice of stove depends of course on the room you have available for it. http://www.villager-stove-specialist.co.uk/multifuel-woodburning-stoves/villager-a-woodburning-stove.html

22. I think that someone reminded the super-intelligent government brainboxes that previously the vignette was binned in favour of additional taxes on fuel to pay for roads and maintenance therof - repeating the cycle would not be a good idea...............?
