  1. Today
  2. Thanks for that information Harnser. I passed it on to British friends who live locally and who have a C3 - news received with less than total enthusiasm, but with thanks !
  3. It seems that that they are going to cease flying from Bordeaux as well, money problems.
  4. Well, yes I know that it’s a subject that we (Brits) always moan about ............ but this year is a bit different ! Down here in the south, we’re pretty much accustomed to high temperatures - it goes with the territory and you didn’t expect it before you came .........!! However, this year ! Normally by mid-May, the idea of still wanting a jumper first thing in the morning and in truth for much of the day, would be considered madness. Well I still am, as are most other folk. The restauranteurs must be suffering terribly, at least they will be if they have no indoor seating arrangements, which few have around here because they’re not needed nor wanted by the clientele. Talk about ‘feast & famine’, or perhaps the other way round. Last year, we had a total drought, with the water supply being regularly cut off (understandably by the way) in order to preserve supplies. This year, we’ve had almost incessant rain for what seems like ages. So depressing. Has it been the same where you are ?
  5. Reading around the French forums today…..it seems that Ryanair is getting it in the neck. For what exactly? For being a cheap efficient airline? Well…I’m coming out….I love ryanair. I have flown with them for 20 years…..never had a problem. Vivre..Ryanair. And please don’t close the Tours route to London.😀
  6. Whilst the recall for Citroën could be serious and I thank Harnser for alerting people, I couldn't resist placing this picture that could affect Renault owners 😀
  7. I agree…he had info and they wanted it…..and they now they have it. He is dead now I reckon.
  8. Avoid becoming elderly and ill in France. That is ALBF advice for the day. Jesus folks…..the system sucks….and very expensive too. Two elderly French relatives have become ill (one very terminally..literally months). The process, the administration and everything else to get them all sorted in their final time is a nightmare. France should be ashamed. Just count on 4k per month to live out your years in an ephad. More if you need specialist care. Im telling you. Also, just hope there is someone to help you with the process. Its….a nightmare. They don’t tell you that in the magazines.
  9. I have a suspicion they didn't grab him out of kindness, and that it's unlikely he'll be seen again - by anyone.
  10. I am still trying to escape France. 😂…..but no I am still locked up in this country. So I am not on the lose. Sleep well tonight. Back on topic….this whole affair is bizarre…a very professional hit to extricate a nobody. What is going on ? Senseless killing of people doing their job. There is more to this story that meets the eye.
  11. Citroën is asking owners of C3 and DS3 models to report. These vehicles were respectively sold between 2009 and 2017 and 2009 and 2019. According to the site Rappel.conso.gouv.fr the faulty workmanship concerns the “Takata” type airbags. Many of the owners of these older models may not be known to the Citroen dealer network so it up to the driver/owner to approach a Citroen dealer to have the recall done. https://www.ouest-france.fr/economie/budget/airbag-defectueux-quels-modeles-de-c3-et-ds3-sont-rappeles-par-citroen-c2e342fc-12da-11ef-8a2a-01c2428a5400
  12. Yesterday
  13. Reports of a violent prisoner escape made me wonder if it wasnt ALBF on the loose as he has been very quiet of late.
  14. Last week
  15. Although, one has to say, with one of the best theme tunes in the last decade.
  16. Yes, the BAFTA’’s are horrible, are they not? This time of the year is just a succession of award shows and Bank Holidays. Am I grumpy ? Me ? Not at all.
  17. Not sure whether this will change your mind. Another version of this years UK's Eurovision entry.
  18. And tonight the BBC is insulting us with the BAFTA horror show, a kind of luvvies self congratulation through mutual mast**bashun(sic) and quite a bit of jealousy!
  19. Just a thought ........... everybody who has commented on here so far has been totally anti yesterday’s nonsense. Are there any dissenting, or rather, supportive views ? If there are, then do say so. Nobody is going to jump down your throat !!!
  20. I think that ship has sailed. As someone who learnt their first rap over 45 years ago, I've never really considered it music either. More like rhythmical poetry.
  21. Talking of music...........I wish people would stop putting the words "rap" and "music" in the same phrase. IMHO rap is not music, it is not even a sound it is a noise!! Just sayin' 🙂 Many of my generation (no reference to the Who song🙂) learned to play instruments, played in bands and wrote songs with meaningful content. Not sure what is happening these days
  22. I haven't watched it since they stopped singing songs with any element of true musicality in them - ones you could sing along to without the whole backing band, without anything but the simplest of settings (and which are still sung today as it happens). Today they are judging the scenery IMHO from what I saw of the pre-pub (unavoidable even when watching the News!). Happily, I always have better things to do than watch a whole load of TV, and if we are really stuck, there's always a DVD or video - yes, we are still in the dark ages here .. even reading a book would have been preferable to watching the junk that passes for popular music these days!!
  23. Not this time I suspect. For a start both the Netherlands and Belgium broadcasters are seriously pi55ed off by the attitude of the Eurovision chief Martin Osterdahl. Secondly participating artists are already coming forward with stories of the toxic atmosphere backstage. The E.B.U. are monetizing Eurovision like crazy yet still expecting the PSB's to pay the costs of hosting ( or even participating in ) the event. As you say,it's all about the money, and why should public service broadcasters fork out for a show that you can watch, for free, live on YouTube.
  24. These organisations have a history of lingering on and on and on and on mainly because those involvedhave a nice little earner that they are reluctant to give up. I call it civil servant syndrome. Maybe there will be a return to Jeux Sans Frontières!🙀
  25. I agree regarding Doctor Who. As far as Eurovision is concerned, I reckon that's the last one we'll ever see. Considering what was going behind the scenes, I surprised it made it to air at all. You shouldn't have to threaten artists to make them go out on stage. Petra Mede's an old hand but you could see the tension in her face throughout the entire show. Even Graham Norton sounded like he was commentating on a funeral. Like it or not the LGBT community have been propping up the show for years. By treating them ( and their artists ) with contempt, Eurovision have just lost their last major audience. I predict a rival company ( Netflix? ) will come up with something similar in the near future and Eurovision ( and possibly even the E.B.U. ) will be consigned to the trash. Frankly, after this week, they deserve it.
  26. Vote Brexit…oooh hang on that has been done. Everyone wants to live in the UK to escape the the EU… beacuse we are the coolest peeps on the planet…and we have pubs….…but they can’t vote for our f****** song.. Lol. Can I remind them of all the best music ever created was from the UK. The Eurovision……is for peeps that don’t have a life. Doctor who is just BBC a woke affair. The world has gone mAd. The Eurovision is an embarrassment.
  27. Simply ghastly - preceded by the almost as absurd Dr Who. We’d kept a couple of pre-recorded items ‘in the can’ for moments such as this.
  28. What a waste or time and resources; puerile, samey songs and sets, ridiculous performers, ridiculous costumes (or lack of them!) and far too much grotesque LGBTV emphasis. With Suits as one alternative (BBC3) which was at best a parody of a parody.
