Peuplier (poplar) is not really suited for heating. It is fine to get a fire started but burns very quickly, leaving few or no ambers.

I have a load of free wood for collection near Saint Savinien (about 30miles from Niort I believe) It's a large chestnut, an oke and several ash trees I cut down  in the winter. I can load my end if anyone is interested. I intend to keep a small amount back for myself but I don't need the rest and it is in my way.
