[quote user="Pickles"]The lunatic fringe has been making up ludicrous stories like this from time immemorial,

Many years ago, when my hair was long, I did have a bit of an unruly fringe, does that count ?

Thanks Pickles (love your avatar) Very interesting and easy to understand - even for degreeless me! My husband calmed me down last night and said much of the same that this article does.

Still, I will be feeling a bit wobbly next Wednesday.  Does it say anywhere what time they will be switching the thing on so that I can make sure I'm doing something noble in the last seconds of my life as opposed to feeding the cats or cleaning out my daughters rabbit hutch?[:)]

The correct expression is 'A little learning is a dangerous thing'

Don't you think that the LHC might have been turned on already?  I can't imagine anyone waiting for the media circus to turn up for the thing to fail when the 'on' button is pushed.  Although the energies in this thing are huge they are nothing compared to what happens in the sun every second.

Twinks, you might as well get started on the ironing, as TEOTW * is not going to happen just yet.

Mr Clair tells me that they're sending all the particles in the same direction tomorrow...

"Tomorrow will see the first particles circulating in the tunnel, as the

giant machine limbers up to smash particles for the first time, in

around 30 days."

So if I sleep in like I did this morning, I may wake up to to find the world still here? [:D]
