Quillan Posted October 22, 2010 Share Posted October 22, 2010 I am not sure if texting whilst driving comes under the usage of the mobile phone ban.Funny enough I was reading the other day that the soon to be released new operating system for TomTom's will now include speech recognition for texting should you have the higher end models that connect to your phone via Bluetooth. My TomTom (920) has had 'hands free' for phones for some time and its very handy when on the move. I don't text but I can see that this new feature could be very good for those that do. I did notice at the bottom of the link it says "You can also be prosecuted for using a hands-free mobile phone if you are not in proper control of your vehicle.". I wonder what defines 'proper control' when using hands free, is there a clear definition specifically for this? I mean you are talking and should have both hands on the wheel. The original posting by Bugsy was about a video by the British police, therefor my link. Lots of people should be prosecuted for singing anywhere, let alone at the wheel of a car. I hope every senior school insists every one of their students sits through it ... Bluetooth hands free kits that clip on your car visor... or like mine.... stuck on the facia just in front of the gear stick with blue tack, where it takes a split second to press the call take button, are so cheap, and easy to pair up with a mobile ,there is no excuse if you can afford to run a car not to have one .
