  1. You will be issued with a new certificate of insurance, it's called le Mémo Véhicule Assuré. Which you must carry to show to plod should they ask to see it.
  2. A shame it doesn't happen in the UK, although if it did certain towns would probably become like Dodge City on a Sunday, empty. 😀
  3. My grandson attended a private school, our family couldn't have afforded the fees in any way shape or form, but the lad got a bursary due to his talents. So if you are inclined to work hard the Private education is available to "plebs"
  4. In the meantime in freedom of movement EU, the French farmers are blocking and in some cases attacking Spanish lorries on the France/Spain border.
  5. It must be difficult running a couple of Land Rovers on £12k a year. 😃
  6. I worked in the UK for 55 years I never had a plastic NI card, and I paid full contributions, plus graduated pension during the 1980s, that system only lasted for about 10 years
  7. When we go to out to a party with friends I always take a couple of non-alcohol beers with me. This is because i will not drink and drive, not just on responsibility grounds, but if I lost my licence at my advanced age I shudder to think what my car insurance would be. So my favoured beer is 1664 Zero, over the holiday period while in the UK I tasted the Guinness Zero and it was very good. As for French food there is good and bad, but I now don't believe the old saying that France is the gourmet Capital of the world, It might have been years ago, but others have caught up and even surpassed it.
  8. Why pay someone else to get a CoC when you can get it easily yourself from the manufacturer. In fact some cars come complete with them , my Mercedes did and for the old runaround VW I applied to VW for one and got it very quickly. There is a guy on social media who specialises in registering UK cars in france, should anybody need his expertise, message me and I will point you in his direction. I might add that I have no commercial interest with him or his business. I'm just a very satisfied customer.
  9. That's easy for you to say.
  10. We have never been questioned in 20 years. Maybe you do look like a Colombian drug smuggler. French can stay in the UK for 180 days
  11. Sorry to say I'm a bit confused, if you want to be in France for a year or more and find a property why don't you just take up residency.

I downloaded your photo and altered the brightness plus lowered the contrast and on my PC it looked fine , but when I tried to upload it to this site it was as dark as you original. So maybe it's the software on Complete France.
  13. British soldiers were bombed shot and constantly attacked by Irish patriots who are now lauded, as you say how times change, a lot of it depends on your perceptions. Personally I have less fear of the Israelis than I do of Hamas.
  14. We have two right hand drive French registered cars, as you say nothing on the CG.
  15. A couple of years ago on a social media site there was a discussion about the TV show "Hello Hello". I said it was wonderful because all nationalities were idiots, the Germans, the British, the French and the Italians. I got banned for 3 days for hate speech. 😀
  16. "Expats who bank with Barclays are to be stripped of their accounts in a move that could leave some customers unable to access their savings and pensions." This part of the report is shere scare mongering, OK they may be shutting down accounts of non residents but to state the above is appaling reporting.
  17. I've had 6 covid vaccinations and last time had covid and flue at the same time. I've just had a letter from the health people reminding me that I'm now entitled to both again.
  18. There is a guy who runs a site on Social media who is a wiz at doing all the paperwork to register a UK car, he did it for me and for a very reasonable fee. If you should wish to go down that road send me a personal message on here and I will point you in the right direction
  19. All of us no matter where we live in France, think our "bit" is the best. After 20 odd years we begin to lose the rose tinted glasses and accept that there bad bits, although as most immigrant Brits live in the deep county side life is pretty quiet.
  20. Please dear Menthe don't do this research, let the doctors tell you what is wrong, you will only stress your self out. Plus best wishes for a good result, and be positive, it really helps.
  21. Angela Raynor said: "people say a woman can't have a penis, Well that's not true as I've had plenty"
  22. Probably due to my work situation where schedules and time were paramount, I prepare down to the Nth degree as far as travel and accommodation is concerned. I do a little research on sightseeing, local restaurants etc. Although that nearly always changes on the day.
  23. Ditto to most of what you said: I thought Lionel Richie wasn't up to his normal standard, Take That? not on my radar. Andrea Bocelli and Sir Bryn Terfel's performance of YNWA, excellant. I thought the military musicians were superb, and I bet they loved playing in a very different scenario to their daily grind. The BBC do these huge occasions wonderfully well, the whole show was beautifully lit and the lighting effects with the drones towards the end fabulous, a big hats of to the drone operators. A shame that the BBC doesn't do the normal daily shows with the same skill, but there is a reason. For these huge prestigious events they will bring in the best people of all crafts that are available and not worry about the cost. For everyday tele, the bean counters are in charge and often for budgetary reasons inexperienced technicians are used as they are cheaper, and it shows on the screen. I also thought Charles and Camilla plus the family did really well especially little Louis.
