As the subject I will not use the 10 trips - probably only 4 or 6. Eurotunnel allow these to be shared but only when setting up the account.

Can be flexible on how the 10 trips are shared.

The current cost is £480 for the 10 trips i.e. £38 each trip.

There are supplements for non off-peak travel:

Off Peak

Folkestone to Calais - 16:00 to 05:59

Calais to Folkestone - 00:00 to 13:59

Peak Supplements (for times outside of above)

£20 but on a few dates £30.

Shouldn't that be £48 each trip?

P&O Season Tickets are cheaper in £

http://www.poferries.com/en/dover-calais/offers/season-tickets

and even cheaper in euro

No time-of-day travel restrictions although there are some High Season supplements for specific days http://www.poferries.com/medias/sys_master/h99/hb2/9558990389278/Season-Ticket-Peak-Dates-SS-GB-18Nov19.pdf

We've used frequent traveller now for 15 years, we took out a new booking just before Christmas and it was £46 a journey. So it's obviously increased, it appears to go up £2 every 2 or 3 years. While I agree with Pom that the PO offer is good. Extra time getting to the Calais port, extra hour Travelling and then trying to get out of Dover port, nightmare, adds about 2-I/2 hours to our journey. Plus of course, the trains run 3 an hour. So for us its train every time.

Pomme thank you for reading the post and yes £48 / trip.

Nick, yes, the price rises faster than inflation.

The main reason for using the tunnel is that we have a rescue dog. He had been used as a bait dog in dog fighting and is very seriously psychological damaged - not to mention the physical scars. He would be absolutely terrified being left on a car deck.

The other reason of course being the speed and convenience of the tunnel.

Ferry or Tunnel.

When I did our 1000mile trip on my own, frankly I preferred the ferry. A forced longer stop, stretch my legs, get some fresh air and maybe something to eat.

Both sides we had a long journey.

We have never been attracted by the prospect of a gloomy underground trip compared with a refreshing cruise across the channel while enjoying some fairly good food and hopefully excellent company [:)]

Credit where credit is due: We've just had an E/mail from Euro tunnel to say that due to the lockdown situation and travel restrictions our frequent traveller account has been extended by 12 months.

Yes, had the same thing. Did wonder if it was a case similar to the airlines that if the service could not be used then you were entitled to your money back. However, with the FT you can buy additional trips at the same unit cost as the original FT trips so very much a win situation......assuming it will be possible to travel between the two countries again :)
