sid
It's very odd! I posted on here about 2 years ago concerning noisy neighbours (all night party going on outside my bedroom window) and, in the main, got no sympathy... apparently I wasn't integrating properly!Anyway, I've since found ut that there are laws against noise and the hours at which it's forbidden completely. Next time it's the Gendarmes and that's the best advice I can give. I think you'll find it won't happen again.Sid

sid
Thanks Clair.I should point out that the instances are different in that our problem is intermittant whilst the OP's is constant. In his case it would be best to appraoch the Maire first I think, but in our case we never knew when the noise would happen, and you don't feel like phoning Mr Maire at 2.30 in the morning! And of course the next day is too late, you've already lost a night's sleep. Our Maire and his secretary was very helpful and explained the national and local laws. It's very distressing and stressful for those on the receiving end of the disturbance and advice like "be more tolerant" just doesn't work.RIPSid
mooky
Madame Mayor has been to see me today. She was a lot more friendlier. She has spoken to my neighbours, anf assures me there will be no more noise!

NormanH
I am surprised to see the comments advising contacting the Gendarmes. This is surely a sledgehammer to crack a nut, and will only lead to resentment and further aggressionThe sort of service of Médition which I suggested is clearly aimed at precisely this sort of situation, and specialises in non-aggressive solutions, yet no-body seems to have taken notice of it. opas
Well I must admit to causing a lot of hastle for my neighbours andtheir invites only a couple of weeks ago. Why? Becasue I am sick tothe back teeth of them inviting all and sundry to our village , theyarrive in cars with beeping horns, bring their bottles of wine, pastisand cannets of beer, start a BBQ at11 pm get louder drunker and let thekids make as much noise as they want ::::::::::then they drive off downmy village where my daughter and mates could be walking: I phoned thegendarmes; they came and told them that if they drove they would bestopped and brethelised: Result; noise till 2am and a neighbour andtheir mates who cannot believe what merde the English neighboursare:::::::::::am I bothered: not really , as no one was killed thatnight:Ohand i am not a goody 2 shoes; I do drink ; but only in the house andneither of us will drive after more than & glass of wine; we do nottouch spirits especially if they are not from an optic: This has been copied from the thread about drink driving:tomorrowwe have a rendez vous with the mediator; I cannot possibly see that itwill do any good with these neighbours as we have sent them letterswith extracts from the public service web site about the arrettprefecture for night-time tappage and noise:
opas
A brief update. We turned up at this office and were the only party there, i thought we were going to be sat round a table to bash out our differences. It turns out that our neighbour wrote the mediator a letter. What a pack of lies, the whole letter was a farce in not a joke. The poor mediator man looked worn out when we gave him our version.......of course you are only going to know our side! This neigbour has told the mediation that we sit on our garrage roof and look at their guests[:-))] , I think that in the 6 years we have lived here , mr O has been on there 6 times...to fit a satelite dish, to trim the Ivy and make sure it does not creep under the tiles and to clean said tiles of algi.moss.She said we are misserable[:-))]........she forgot to mention they were the cause of our missery, claims she is on anti depresants.....forgot to mention the spirits she downs them with[B]ooh the list goes on.I invited the bloke to come and live at our house for a couple of weeks to see who was having who on.We are supposed to get a phone call from this guy when he has spoken to this family. we as yet have not heard anything.I have stressed to this Mediator that the only thing we are asking is that they comply with the arrett prefeture, in our village that is 06.30 - 22.00.Then I will be content.
